<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Drill tool".
The subject of the invention is a drilling tool more especially intended for perforating and / or cutting hard materials and more especially still glass.
Substantially, this tool is characterized in that it comes in the form of a tubular member with a strong and thin wall, abrasive or made abrasive preferably in all its part usable as a wear means.
This tubular element is driven in a rotational movement around its longitudinal axis and, thus, applied with a certain pressure against the wall - usually glass - in which we want to drill a hole or out of which we want to cut a circular window of a diameter equal to

.IJçns these: Ir figure 1 schér; T: -. tises a radial cut by the tool itself. It is formed of a thin-walled netal tube 1 in which, over a length 1, for example, small grains or fregraents of a very high quality such as silica, cornidon, dicil1lbnt or other. In this way this part of the tool is highly abrasive and able to wear hard .11ç, such as glass for example. This arrangement offers the advantage that the active edge of the rotating tube has
EMI2.4
really like a serrated tool since the 'grains
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The hard edges of the said edge "bite" only the material we cut. The result is clean and relatively quick work.
It is possible to admit through the tubular element an appropriate coolant, lubricant or the like so as to promote the wear work of the tool and to ensure a clean section of the cut.
FIG. 2 is a diagrammatic elevation with partial radial section of an alternative embodiment in which the tubular element 2 with a thin wall has a section 3 in constriction. The latter is trapped in the mandrel 4 of the rotary machine. A coil spring 5 is placed inside the tubular section 2 and bears against the inner shoulder of the neck 3. Preferably this spring will be fixed in said tubular element in such a way that normally its free end 6 protrudes from the edge. free of the tubular element. 3.
In this way, as shown schematically in FIG. 2, the cut fragment 7 is automatically ejected at the instant when the cutting operation ends. This fathers arrangement therefore always maintains the tool in a free state, that is to say ready to operate without fear of clogging or obstruction, for example by the accumulation and / or jamming of such a fragment cut out of hard material.
FIG. 3 shows a perspective view of the combination of the executions of FIGS. 1 and 2, respectively. In fact, the tubular element 1 is internally fitted with a coil spring, the latter projecting slightly and being duly immobilized in the inside the tube so that it cannot be separated from it freely during handling of the tool.
In general, the spring arrangement is only suitable for tools of relatively "small diameter."
FIG. 4 schematically shows a preferable execution for cutting with a larger diameter. It is indeed necessary to prevent
