BREVET D'INVESTI ON- Charle s LABIAUX "Miroir à éclairage électrique".

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

     DESCRIPTIVE MEMORY filed in support of a request for
INVESTMENT PATENT - Charle s LABIAUX "Electrically lit mirror".

   The present invention relates to a mirror provided with a device that illuminates the face of the subject who is mirrored.

   It is known that mirrors of the ordinary type do not include a device making it possible to illuminate the face of the subject who is looking at himself in the mirror.

   This has drawbacks, in particular when a mirror is used for the purpose of shaving or applying makeup. Indeed, often part of the figure is illuminated while the other remains in the shade *
The present invention, which sets out to remedy these drawbacks, has as its object a mirror provided with a device which illuminates all the parts of the face of the subject who is mirrored equally.

   A particular feature of the invention consists in providing a device enabling the face of the subject's face to be illuminated using the: mirror and this without blinding it.

   The mirror is essentially made up of two adjacent parts, one of which is in frosted glass covering the device used for lighting and the other the reflecting surface itself '- ... #

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

In addition two ulectrique bulbs located laterally and behind the frosted glass serve as a light source.

   In addition, a semi-cylindrical element reflects the light and sends it to the frosted glass.
Other features will become apparent from the description of the drawings appended hereto; memory given by way of nonlimiting example of a particular embodiment according to the invention.

   In these drawings:
FIG. 1 represents a front view of a mirror produced according to the invention.

   Figure 2 is a side view.

   Figure 3 is a top view of such a mirror.

   As shown in Figure 1, the mirror according to the invention is composed of a reflecting surface or mirror proper and of a frosted glass part 2. These two elements are separated by the horizontal cross member 3 and surrounded by the frame 4. Between the cross member 3 and the upper edge of the frame 4 are fixed laterally semicircular or other elements 5 carrying the frames 6 which are screwed the electric bulbs 7 connected to the network by the socket 8 and subjected to the. action of switch 9. On the semi-circular elements 5 is placed a plate 10 matching the shape of the latter and made of cardboard or of another material.

   It is obvious that the frame 4 as well as the horizontal cross member 3 can be made of any material such as wood, forged ter etc.

   In addition, the rectangular shape given to this embodiment is not restrictive of the invention * any square, rectangular, oblong shape, etc. may be used depending on the circumstances.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

In addition the various forms given to the assembly may require the splitting into two or more of two parts of the ground glass plate; Its divided parts can even in special mirror shapes become lateral and each contain an illuminating bulb.

   The lighting device can also be located according to the needs above and in front of the reflecting surface of the Mirror so as to overhang the latter.

     The use of bulbs of about 15 watts of power or a fluorescent tube has so far given the best results which obviously depend on the opacity of the frosted glass plate. This has the great advantage of diffracting the light and of transmitting on the user's face only a thin light, subdued / and not dazzling but strongly illuminating all the details of the figure *
