<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
qu'un renflement dudit bord; on peut par exemple prévoir un bourrelet en matière élastique, tel qu'Un anneau de caoutchouc, disposé dans une rainure de 'galbe correspondant;
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"Connection device between two elements likely to fit into each other".
It is commonly used for the packaging of various products, such as, for example, cleaning products (blackberries, etc.), beauty products (creams, etc.), food products (jams, etc.), etc. ., metal or plastic boxes for which the most perfect seal is sought.
Such packages generally consist of a container or box and a cover: the folded cylindrical edges of the latter surround the raised cylindrical edges of the box and slide on them with gentle friction; these packages are then easily opened, but their tightness leaves much to be desired; thus, for example, products containing a volatile solvent tend to dry out therein.
A different solution consists in providing a fairly vigorous tightening between the cover and the housing: the sealing
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
oheity is then achieved in a satisfactory manner, but the opening of the container is made difficult; this is remedied by providing the box with a key forming a lever and which lifts the cover with a significant force thanks to the reduction produced by said key. Other solutions have been proposed to overcome the difficulty, for example by providing a tight seal with a clamping device, or a screw or bayonet closure, but none of these solutions is entirely satisfactory: a key is a protruding part and requires riveting; a gasket constitutes a manufacturing complication and a risk of loss.
The cost price of all these packaging is in any case higher than that of a normal box.
The object of the present invention is a box which makes it possible to remedy these various drawbacks: it is characterized by the existence between the box and the cover of a sufficiently large clamping to ensure satisfactory sealing, in combination with an arrangement allowing the lid to pivot easily about an axis perpendicular to the axis of revolution of the box, if it is a circular box, or parallel to an axis of symmetry and preferably to the minor axis of symmetry of the closure, if it is an elliptical or rectangular box, and close enough to the diameter or said axis of symmetry of the closure, which allows opening and closing of the box as easy as if the tightening was very weak.
Thus, according to a first embodiment of the invention, the clamping between the raised edges of the case and the folded edges of the. cover, which bear against an annular step of the box, is provided by a rib, bulge or transverse bead, and the pivoting of the cover by a slanted notch provided in the edge of the latter and limiting the support of this edge against the step of the box to an area of about 1802, or preferably 2402.
According to a variant, the clamping between the raised edges of the housing and the raised edges of the cover being ensured by any suitable means, the cover rests on the housing in only three points, which ensures perfect support for any force exerted on it. the cover inside the triangle having these three points for vertices, and allows pivoting about the axis passing through two of these points for any force exerted on the edge of the cover adjacent to said axis.
It is understood, however, that the invention is in no way limited to these particular embodiments and that it applies, in a much more general manner, to all devices or. objects comprising two elements capable of fitting into each other; such a connection between the two elements of the device or of the object offers the advantage of a very solid assembly, however, allowing easy disassembly without any special tool.
This is how a button can be made in three parts which constitutes a new industrial product.

Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the housing.
Fig. 3 is a similar view of the cover.
Fig. 4 is a plan view of the cover.
Fig. 5 is an elevational view of the box in the process of opening or closing.
Fig. 6 shows a first variant in cross section.
Fig. 7 is a view of a second variant in cross section taken along the line VII-VII of fig.8.
Fig. 8 is a plan view from below of the cover of the box shown in FIG. 7.
Fig. 9 is a cross-sectional view of a third variant.
Fig. 10 is a cross-sectional view of a button produced according to the invention.
Figure 11 is a plan view of the housing.
Figs. 12 and 13 show the cover seen from above and below, respectively.
Fig. 14 is a view similar to FIG. 10, showing the maneuver to separate the cover from the housing.
The box shown in figs. 1 to 5 comprises a cylindrical housing 1 and a also cylindrical cover 2; on the raised edge 3 of the casing 1 there is provided an annular bulge 4, of precisely determined diameter, on which friction contact is made with the folded edge
5 of the cover, ensuring the closure; the housing 1 also comprises at its base a bead 6.
The cylindrical edges 5 of the cover 2 have a diameter slightly smaller than that of the annular bulge
4; they have a slight elasticity, necessary to allow them to be mounted in friction and with a certain tightening on the case. The tightness is thus ensured in a satisfactory manner.
The opening of the box can then no longer be carried out. kill in a normal way. In fact, an exaggerated effort is required, making this operation difficult or even practically impossible.
To remedy this, the cover is notched over a sector of approximately 120, as shown in the drawing at 7; non-indented part of the cover comes to rest, @
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
when the box is closed, on the overhanging bead 6.
By pressing with your finger on point 8 of the cover, corresponding to the middle of the indented sector 7, the cover is pivoted about an axis X X. A certain force is thus required., due to the tightening of the cover to the case, but it should be noted that this force is strictly limited at the start of the movement and that it decreases very quickly. It is also greatly reduced compared to that required by the normal opening of a closed box with a similar clamping, the pivoting movement being initiated more easily than a sliding movement by translation.
It should be noted, moreover, that the organization of the hand makes it easy to make this effort, which is reduced to a tightening between the thumb and forefinger, whereas the normal opening force of a boot is difficult to control, and that the gripping force which one has to make tends to increase the tightening and consequently the difficulty of opening.
After pivoting this cover takes, relative to the housing, the position shown in FIG. 5 of. drawing.
In this position, the cover no longer clamps on the part bearing the annular bulge 4 of the case due to its obliquity. In fact, play occurs on the axis perpendicular to XX as soon as the cover takes an oblique position relative to the housing and, due to the elasticity of the cover, the play occurring decreases the tightening on the axis. of pivot XX and reduces it to a negligible value, which facilitates opening.
In order to have an easy and correct application of the force necessary for tumbling the cover, it is possible to provide in point 8, for example, a hollow pellet stamped or molded, or any other mark indicating net- the point of action. when pressing 8 on the closed cover, with sufficient force, the properties indicated above result in a sudden take-off giving a sharp noise. and immediately the cover can be removed effortlessly.
The box is closed without difficulty by placing the cover in the inclined position shown in FIG. 5 then straightening it as shown in FIG. 1 by pressing at 9. The notch 7 can be closed with wax or any other material, which must be removed in order to tilt the cover and open the box, and whose presence or absence therefore immediately indicate whether the box has been opened or not. Any other so-called tamper-evident device can be used.
It is understood that the embodiment of the invention which has been described above with reference to the appended drawing has been given purely as an indication and in no way limiting and that numerous modifications can be made without having to be understood. 'For this, leaves the scope of the present invention aside: thus the clamping between the edge of the oon- ment and the cover can be ensured by any other means
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
a bulge of said edge; one can for example provide a bead of elastic material, such as a rubber ring, arranged in a groove of 'corresponding curve;
the easy pivoting of the cover 'can also be achieved in any other way than by means of the biased notch in the edge of the opening, limiting to a sector of approximately 1202 the support of said edge against an annular recess of the box. ¯ -
Thus, fig. 6 shows a jar 10, which can be made of glass, earthenware, plastic or any other rigid or elastic material; it comprises a groove 11 in which is housed an annular bead or coil 12 made of rubber; the cover 13, which can also be made of any rigid or elastic material, has folded edges 14 which rest on three stops 15, integral with the jar 10 and arranged along the three vertices of an isocelial triangle.
It will be understood that a pressure exerted at 16, on the cover 13, causes it to pivot about the virtual axis constituted by one of the sides of the isosceles triangle and initiates the opening of the cover.
The box shown in Figs. 7 and 8 has a rounded-bottom 20 and raised edges 21; the cover 22 has flanged edges 23 arranged to ensure a tight closure with the raised edges 21 of the casing; it has three ribs 24, arranged along the three vertices of an isosceles triangle; pressure exerted on the edge of the cover, at a point 25 symmetrical with one of the ribs 24, causes it to pivot around a virtual axis passing through the other two ribs 24, and initiates its opening. box can in particular be made of molded material.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 9, the cover 30 penetrates inside the container 31; it has three ribs 32 resting on the edges 33 of the container; its opening is obtained as in the previous case, by a pressure exerted on its edge, at a point 34 symmetrical with one of the ribs 32, which causes it to pivot around a virtual axis passing through the other two ribs 32.
The button shown in figs. 10 to 14 is composed of two main elements that one can call the box 41 and the cover 42, by analogy with the corresponding elements of a box based on the same principle, and to use the expressions used in what precedes.
The folded edges 43 of the cover are arranged to fit together the raised edges 44 of the housing 41.
The cover 42 comprises, over a sector comprised approximately between 2/3 and 3/4 of the total circumference, a shoulder 45 which rests on the upper part of the raised edge 44 of the housing 41.
At the lower part of the folded edge 43, in the zone where this shoulder 45 does not exist and in the middle of this zone, a point 46 is provided which allows the user to easily find the point where he must exert his effort,
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
according to the arrows F1 and F2 shown in figure 5, to tilt the cover around the ends 55 of the shoulder 45 and thus cause the lifting of its opposite side according to the arrow F3
One could of course be satisfied with drilling the housing 41 with suitable holes through which the threads intended to sew the buttons in question could be passed; however, the holes thus made in a part of molded material generally have edges which are extremely ooupant.
It would be to be feared that by practicing in this way, the threads would not resist and that the button would come loose.
To remedy this drawback, a large hole 47 is provided in the center of the housing, through which the wires can be engaged without running the risk of rubbing against its edges and consequently of being cut; these threads 48, which pass through the fabric 49 on which the button is to be sewn, surround a part 50 comprising a central core 51, on either side of which are arranged in the extension of one of the other, tapered shoulders 52.
To prevent this part 50 from running the risk of rotating and thereby causing an untimely twisting of the threads 48 and possibly also of the fabric 49, low walls 53 are provided in the housing 41 to hold the shoulders 52 of the part 50 in place. .
The button thus produced has many advantages; it is thus, for example, that it leaves no apparent means of fixing, since the wire is hidden by the cover 42; in addition, the same box can be used with different covers having various ornaments, colors and curves which makes it possible to change very easily and inexpensively the appearance of the garment on which they are attached.
To consolidate the cover 42 and facilitate its pivoting when it is desired to separate it from the casing 41 by pressure-exerted along the arrows F1 and F2, it is possible to advantageously provide at the lower part of the cover 42 and in its center a projecting part 54 of which the curve corresponds to that of the central core 51, and which comes to rest on the latter when the shoulder 45 itself rests on the raised upper edge 44 of the housing 41.
It is understood that this embodiment of the invention is given only as an indication and in no way limiting and that many modifications could be made without departing from the scope of this present invention. invention.
