<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Device for triggering the reversal of direction of travel of any mechanism.
The present invention relates to an apparatus applicable to any mechanical, hydraulic or electrical control for reversing the direction of travel of any mechanism.
Its purpose is to obtain instantaneous tripping and consists essentially in the use of two springs housed in the groove of a barrel and alternately compressed, means being furthermore provided by which the barrel is stopped. while one of the springs is stretched and is then released so as to allow the sudden rotation of the barrel under the action of the spring.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In the practical embodiment of the invention, two pawls between which there is a spring are provided as means for immobilizing the barrel.
With the barrel is aligned a disc bearing on the one hand, a finger alternately compressing the two springs of the barrel and, on the other hand, two lugs serving to release, at the desired time, the immobilizing pawls.
The disc receives its reciprocating movement, for example from a table with oscillating movements in the horizontal plane, this table bearing stops which act at each end of travel on a lever controlling the rotation of the disc.
The accompanying drawings show by way of example a device produced according to the invention.
Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of the entire apparatus.
Figures 2, 3, 4 and 5 are detail views.
In the attached drawings, 1 and 2 denote stops which are carried by the table and which, at each end of travel, act, each in the direction which is proper to it, on a lever 3 returned. integral with a fork 4 by means of an axis 31. This fork takes around a finger carried 5 / by a disc 6 provided on its other face with a second finger 7 located in the axis of the finger 5. This disc 6 is mounted on a pivot 8 aligned with a shaft 9 carrying a barrel 11 provided with a groove 10 in which there are two curved springs 12 between which the finger 7 engages. These springs work together. 'one on the right and one on the left. The rotation of the disc 6 therefore moves the finger 7 in the groove 10 by compressing one or the other spring 12.
The device further comprises pawls 13 - 16 between which there is a spring 17 and on which the projections 14-14 'provided on the disc 6 act.
Assuming that the device is in the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
position shown in particular in Figures 3 and 4, it can be seen that the barrel 11 cannot rotate because it is retained by the pawl 13. It is only when the lug 14 of the disc 6 has released this pawl 13 that the tension of the spring 12, which will have been comrpimé by the displacement of the lug 7, will suddenly move the barrel in the direction indicated by the arrow z. The movable contact 15 will then be violently removed from the terminals 18 on the left to be applied to those on the right 19. At this moment, the barrel will catch in this position by the action of the pawl 16 which, urged by the spring 17, falls back. in the notch 20 (fig. 4) of the barrel provided to receive it.
The motor thus starts to rotate in the opposite direction and moves the table in the opposite direction until the other stop (1 or 2), again actuating lever 3, returns the trigger mechanism to its initial position. The mechanism can in fact operate in both directions thanks to the presence of two barrel springs and two pawls, these two springs being alternately compressed and the barrel being, while the spring is stretched, stopped by a pawl which will be released by a lug 14-141, so as to allow the sudden rotation of the barrel under the action of the spring.
