<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
A l'effet de faire ressortir les caractéristiques essentielles de l'invention, des modes d'exécution sont décrits plus en détail ci-après et schématisés aux dessins.annexés, dans lesquels : la figure 1 est une coupe radiale par un entonnoir perfectionné, placé sur un récipient; la figure 2 est une coupe suivant la ligne II-II de la figure 1; la figure 3 est une coupe suivant la ligne III-III de la figure 1; la figure 4 est une coupe radiale par une variante d'exécution, réalisant notamment un modèle plus simple et par conséquent plus économique ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
D'acre part,on
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

"Improved funnel".
The present invention relates to an improved funnel having various advantages and particularly valuable in many applications. The essential aim of the invention is to provide a funnel which allows the containers to be filled to predetermined levels, without any special attention on the part of the attendant. This same improved funnel can be removed with impunity from the container even when it still contains a certain quantity of liquid. Finally, this funnel allows the normal release of the air included in the container, which therefore allows the latter to be filled in an absolutely normal manner.
Substantially, the funnel is composed of the same parts as the ordinary funnels, with the characteristic that the duct extending the conical vessel is blocked at its free end and has orifices arranged laterally towards this end. Around the tubular part is a fitted, soft rubbing sleeve. This sleeve is extended so that it can
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
normally obscure the aforementioned orifices, being called permanently in this position by an appropriate return spring. This same sleeve is superiorly extended by a protrusion capable of coming to rest on the neck of the container. This prominence has at least one orifice for the escape of the air discharged as the container is filled.
According to the invention, this protrusion can be extended, either by an air exhaust duct extending to the upper level of the funnel itself, or, preferably, this protrusion takes the form of a small funnel into which the air exhaust port (s) emerge. The purpose of this arrangement is to be able to receive the liquid which would come to overflow from the maximum level of the container. As the air exhaust orifice (s) are capillary, the resistance of the liquid is such that this small auxiliary funnel will in any case be sufficient to recover what would come to exceed the upper level of the container.
When the funnel is removed, by grasping it in the ordinary way, the return spring is automatically released from the weight of the funnel and this spring is disengaged by instantly pushing the sleeve towards its position of concealing the lateral orifices of the funnel. the central tubular element. The liquid passage is therefore automatically cut off and the funnel can be removed without any danger from the receptacle. The little liquid which would have been collected in the secondary funnel flows normally into the container.
An important feature of the invention relates to the immobilization means provided for the funnel when it is placed on the container to be filled. Indeed the small mechanism interposed between the upper part of the container and the lower part of the funnel itself determines a certain overhang of the latter. It is therefore important to be able to assume this against any movement and spillage, in particular when it contains a certain quantity of liquid. For this purpose the invention provides for placing between the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
outer sleeve and the inner wall of the neck of the container one or more clamps or elastic elements which, by deforming, exert a radial pressure ensuring the stability of the funnel.
Obviously, these prescriptions make it possible to produce improved funnels by means of very variable construction forms, in particular the dimensions and the conformation of the different parts of the funnel can be modified so as to create various types of funnels.
In order to bring out the essential characteristics of the invention, embodiments are described in more detail below and shown diagrammatically in the appended drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is a radial section through an improved funnel, placed on a container; Figure 2 is a section taken on line II-II of Figure 1; Figure 3 is a section taken on line III-III of Figure 1; FIG. 4 is a radial section through an alternative embodiment, in particular producing a simpler and consequently more economical model;
Figure 5 is a section along the line V-V of Figure 4,
According to Figures 1 to 3, the execution given by way of example, therefore comprises a receptacle or funnel proper 1, extended by a tube 2, blocked at the lower part and having at least one side orifice 3 towards this end. Around the tube 2 and over a certain height, a sliding sleeve 4 is provided, which is secured by its upper end to a small annular chamber 5, into which a tube 6 emerges, extended to the upper level of the receptacle 1. This tube 6 is preferably profiled so as to present a minimum bulk, with the aim of following as much as possible the conformation of the receptacle 1.
At least one orifice 7 passes through the internal wall of the annular chamber, which makes it possible to put the latter in communication with the interior of the receptacle 8 to be filled with the intervention of passages 9, provided for this.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
effect in the outer wall of the sleeve 4. The annular chamber 5 is surmounted by a ferrule 10 serving as a partial housing for a return spring 11 surrounding the tube 2 and the other part of which is housed in a second ferrule 12 which can s' telescopically fit into the first, in particular when the spring 11 weakens. Under the annular chamber 5 is preferably placed a substantially conical seal 13, which normally fits over the corresponding part of the sleeve 4.
The purpose of this seal is to ensure the seal between the device and the upper edge of the container 8 to be filled. The displacement of the ferrule 12 in the ferrule 10 is provided in such a way that when these two elements are telescopically nested, the openings of the axial tube 3 are completely released, that is to say lowered, in such a way that they protrude the lower end of the sleeve 4.
An important characteristic of the invention consists in the provision on the sleeve 4 of a device for immobilizing the funnel.
In this case, it is formed by a ferrule 14, in which are fixed elastic blades 15. These blades are placed in a bundle, the size of which is greater than the diameter of the neck of the container to be filled. By normally introducing the funnel into the container, the bundle of blades 15 is deformed by banding the latter, which therefore press with sufficient radial pressure on the internal wall of the container 8. One can obviously imagine any other fulcrum or means. pressure to stabilize the advanced funnel in its active position.
The lower end of the axial tube 2 is blocked by a plug 16, extended by a shaft end 17, on which can advantageously be adjusted an elastic ring 18, itself held in place by an auxiliary piece 19 coming from therefore screw on the threaded end of the plug 16.
This arrangement provides both a sealing means when the improved reservoir is in the closed position, a shock absorber for the outer sleeve 4 and, finally, a method of adjusting the level of the liquid in the receptacle 8. Indeed, pn may vary the room
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
make-up 19. which therefore encumbers more or less strongly the container, to which responds a more or less significant lowering of the level of the liquid in the container, after having removed the improved funnel. Therefore, the operation of this device is simple, since it suffices to introduce it into the neck of the container 1 in the usual manner of an ordinary funnel. Automatically, the funnel is firmly clamped in its normal position by the reaction of the elastic elements 15.
By introducing the liquid into the receptacle or the funnel itself 1, it flows through the axial tube 2. And as under the weight of the latter and all the elements it carries, the spring 11 has been compressed, this assembly is therefore lowered by an amount such that the orifices are released and, consequently, the liquid can normally flow through these orifices into the receptacle 8. At any time, the funnel can be released from the container. container and this regardless of the liquid level in the funnel.
Indeed, any effort made in order to remove the funnel, automatically brings about the release of the spring 11 from the weight of the moving elements and the liquid and, consequently, the relaxation of this spring and the instantaneous concealment of the orifices 2 by the corresponding part of the sliding sleeve 4.
An alternative embodiment is shown schematically in Figures 4 and 5.
The aim of this variant is above all to show that the essential characteristics of the invention are applicable to any execution and that it is also possible to produce improved funnels of extremely simple construction.
In this case, the actual container 1 is also extended by a tube, blocked at its lower part by a stopper 16 and having side openings 3 towards this end.
Around the tube. 2. The sleeve 4 is arranged. In accordance with the characteristics of this variant, the sleeve is superiorly extended by a conical bowl 20 having at its lower part capillary orifices 21. capable of putting the inside of the receptacle 8 into communication with the outside. Between the upper part
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
of the sleeve 4 and the lower part of the receptacle 1 is interposed the return spring 11. On the same sleeve is fixed the stabilizing means of the funnel. In this case, the same elastic lamellae 15 fixed by a ferrule 14 have been shown schematically.
The lower stopper 16 of the axial tube 2 is profiled so as to present a base 22 serving as a support for the elastic ring 18, constituting both the seal and the bumper of the sliding sleeve 4.
The operation of this execution is substantially identical to that of the previous example, given that by introducing the funnel into the neck of the container 8, it is instantly fixed and under the weight of the axial tube 3 and of the receptacle to which it is integral, the spring 11 collapses and consequently releases the side openings 3. The bowl 20, by its taper, fits perfectly and is centered on the neck of the container and at the same time forms a seal. This cup could obviously be made of elastic material which fits onto the upper part of the sleeve 4.
Therefore, if the level of the liquid rises in the container 8, up to its upper level, the air can still freely escape through the orifices 21, while the liquid, having regard to the capillarity of these orifices, is braked and is prevented from exiting. However, the little liquid which could possibly escape would be automatically retained by the bowl 20. Similarly, by removing the funnel from the container, the return spring 11 is released, which instantly pushes the sleeve 4 into its lower position. The orifices are therefore immediately blocked.
It should be noted that in both cases, the improved funnel stabilization device, in this case the elastic blades 15, promotes instantaneous closure of the funnel when it is removed, since the outer sleeve is braked when attempting to remove the device.
We can obviously give the various elements described above extremely variable shapes and dimensions. Of course, we
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
can also change their relative position. Only the original combination of the various mechanical elements offered matters.
