<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
4.
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>
<Desc/Clms Page number 12>
<Desc/Clms Page number 13>
<Desc/Clms Page number 14>
12, qui coopère avec¯ un siège 13, 7 désigne la tige du clapet principal qui est vissée dans une tige de manoeuvre 8;
<Desc/Clms Page number 15>
<Desc/Clms Page number 16>

<Desc/Clms Page number 19>

"IMPROVEMENTS TO VALVES OR SHUTTERS FOR PRESSURIZED FLUID PIPES AND CAPACITIES, IN PARTICULAR FIRE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS AND SIMILAR".
The invention relates to closure means for conduits and pressurized fluid capacities, in particular under high pressure, and relates in particular, but not exclusively, to shut-off devices with valves, the valves of which are associated with mechanisms. such as levers, cams, or the like to ensure their operation.
In devices of this kind, it is important to ensure perfect sealing of the shutters and valves which they include not.only for all the conditions to which said capacities may be subjected in service, but also during the transport of these capacities.
If in general the levers, cams or similar are locked during transport, this locking, provided by links, seals, safety seals and similar devices,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
more or less resistant, is in fact only relatively safe, and does not absolutely prohibit an accidental external action on the valves and the untimely operation of these *
In addition, the capacities provided with their levers, cams, or other maneuvering means, are not only more cumbersome, but also require, in order to avoid damage to these components, to be handled with more care, which does not is not always the case.
It follows that there would be a serious advantage in being able to separate the levers, cams and other maneuvering means, from the valves or plugs for the transport of the capacities which comprise them. Due to the overcrowding, possible damage
EMI2.1
which can be caused during their transport not only to the levers, cams and the like, but also to the marl valves, by in #battage on their seats, valves, or loose plugs, for example intended for pipes, there is also interest in or to block them being able to separate these members from said valves or plugs / for their transport.
The object of the invention is above all to remedy the inoonv- and to satisfy the above desiderata! "clients reported / it aims, moreover, to provide better valves - 'C'" or plugs meeting / than up to now to their conditions of use.
To this end, it consists, mainly, in making these valves or plugs understand, at the same time as a lever, cam, or the like, for maneuvering, which is easily separable, devices suitable for allowing, without the assistance of said lever, cam or the like, to block on its seat at least one valve closing the capacity or pipe. By lever, cam and the like, for operating, is meant according to the invention, devices for operating valves or pluggable shutters providing at least the axial displacement of these valves.
Apart from this main provision, the invention

EMI3.1
also consists in associating a valve closing the capacity, or pipe, called main valve, and capable of detpre blocked on <for the fluid its seat, a second valve, capable of.isoloi-'le passage / of the maneuver mechanism p1! lE # x: isx:
both the load and the discharge, and advantageously organized so as to be able to block on its seat by the operation of the device provided for blocking on its seat the first of the named valves * In addition and preferably, the said valves are provided with gaskets of stable and unalterable materials, such as metals and metal alloys, fiber, ebonite, or.des materials behaving in a .anaîoe manner, such. the 'synthetic rubber resins syntÉ6tj "queo / gt similar, and preferably also they are established with useful surfaces of different extent is particularly with a useful surface of more important deéténduo -, principa! ...', for the valve / closing the capacity or pipe in order to obtain a greater action of the fluid on this valve.
Finally, we can still associate, with the named valves, either a valve also conditioned to close the capacity or pipe, or the assembly of a diaphragm and a striker meeting the same purpose.
And so that the aforementioned arrangements, as well as other features still characteristic of the invention, can be well understood, certain preferred embodiments will be described below, given by way of example, and illustrated by the drawings. annexed, on which:

Fig. 18 mpntre - an alternative arrangement.
Referring to Figure 1, 1 denotes a body of a valve mounted on a high pressure fluid capacity partially indicated in 2, for the purpose of controlling the discharge of the fluid from this capacity through the nozzle 3, to which can be connected any distribution duct, not shown.
In the body 1 is mounted a valve or valve 4, resting on a seat 5, with the interposition of a seal 8 which is preferably formed from one of the named materials.
For its control, the valve 4 is connected, for example by screwing, by an extension 7, to a sliding rod 8, passing through a guide 9 screwed onto the body 1.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
Beyond this guide, the operating rod is threaded as seen in 10 *
On the other hand, formed integrally with the rod 8 where attached thereto, there is provided a plate 11, in which is formed a circular recess, which recess also receives established a sealing gasket, 12, of preferably, for example in one of the named materials, suitable for cooperating with a seat 13 formed or attached in the body 1, such that when the rod 8-10 is lowered to move the valve 4 away from its seat, the plate 11 comes, by its trim 12, to be applied on the seat
13 and form joint with the latter.
The passage 14 is formed between the seats 6 and 13, making the interior of the capacity 2 communicate with the nozzle 3 when the valve 4 is moved away from its seat *
Furthermore on the body 1 is mounted, in an easily removable manner, preferably by means of a pin
15, or the equivalent, 'an operating lever 16, preferably provided with a more or less elongated recess 171 coming to bear on the end 19 of the threaded part 10 of the control rod *
On this threaded part, and below the lever 16, is threaded a stop 18, advantageously convex to cooperate with the edge of the guide 9, The arrangement is such that if one 'screws the stop 18 on the threaded part 10,
until contact with the edge of the guide 9, the valve 4 is mechanically brought upwards and firmly applied, by its gasket-6, against its seat 5, ensuring perfect sealing.
Under these conditions, the lever 16 can be dismantled and separated, and the capacity provided with its valve, the valve of which is blocked, can be transported in complete safety, without fear of damage to the lever or of the inadvertent opening of the closing valve.
Note that if the valve is transported detached
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
capacity, when lever 16 is removed and the valve
4 is brought back against its seat 5 by screwing the stop 18 on the threaded part 10, this valve cannot beat its seat under the effect of shocks or trepidations, which is suitable for keeping these organs in a perfect state of operation and to significantly reduce the size of the shutter.
To ensure the operation of the valve, it suffices to raise the lever 16, by placing the pin 16, after which the stop 18 is moved away from the edge of the guide 9 in order to allow the longitudinal displacement of the valves.
It is therefore possible, by acting on the lever 16, to move the valve 4 away from its seat and, in addition, to bring the gasket 12 of the plate 11 into contact with the seat 13, thus isolating the passage of the fluid from the capacity 2 to the 'nozzle 3. This maneuver is facilitated by the association with the body 1 of a handle 24, also easily removable, and for this purpose, for example established / in the form of a hollow body, engaged on an extension
24da body 1 and secured thereto by means of screws or the like, 242,
The intimate application of the gasket 12 against the seat 13 can still be ensured by establishing the valve 4 with a useful surface greater than that of the valve 11, so that once the valve 4 has moved away from its seat, the fluid under pressure exerts a greater thrust on this valve than on the valve 11.
This also applies in the case of recharging the capacity 2 with pressurized fluid, which is generally carried out via the nozzle 3 and the passage 14. Under these conditions, the compressed fluid, by acting on the valve 4 moves the latter away from its seat by simultaneously applying, in a firm manner, the plate 11 with its lining 12 against the seat 13, due to the larger useful extent of the valve
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
4.
This application can of course be improved by manual action on the lever 16, but in practice we observe that the action of the fluid on the valve 4 is sufficient to obtain a good seal @ '@
It would be possible, if it were necessary, to obtain an even more perfect seal, by blocking the valve 11-12 on its seat, and fig62 shows a means of ensuring this result.
According to this figure, there is provided in association with the po @ gnée 24 a lock 27, articulated therein in any way, for example using a pin, not shown in the drawing, and provided with at least one notch such as 29 suitable for engaging the end 23 of the lever 16 when the latter is lowered into the position of application of the valve 11-12 on its seat.
By then raising the stopper 1 @ along the threaded part
10, so that it comes to rest against the duly locked lever 16, the trim 12 can be applied against the seat 13 with all the desired pressure *
One could moreover, in addition to both of the preceding results, provide 1. using the arrangement a temporary mechanical blocking of the valve 4 on its seat, and FIG. shows an example of such an application.
In this figure, the stop; 18 is established with a narrowed portion 181, which is advantageously formed two lateral flats. By then introducing a member-18, the tightness of which is fork-shaped, between the stop 18 and the upper face of the guide 9, the return is automatically obtained, and the inapplication with the desired pressure, of the valve 4 on its seat.
The association of the branches of the fork and the flats of the stop 19, will also allow the -'butée 19 to be moved on the 'threaded portion 10; by providing additional tightening of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
stopper and additional pressure on the valve. The handle of the. fork can if necessary be shaped and joined with the end of the lever during the temporary blocking of the valve 4 on its seat.
In the arrangement of Figure 4, we find the members la ?, 14 to le and 24 in the same arrangement as that described with reference to Fig.1, but the rod 7 of the valve 4 is made integral, for example by screwing , of an operating rod established in the form of a screw, with a more or less rapid step, and preferably of left step, of which an extension 91 is equipped with a means suitable for ensuring its rotation, for example a handwheel 32 ,
The screw 8 is engaged in a sliding sleeve, constituting the member 11 of the previous arrangement, on which is formed a bearing surface, preferably conical, 11, which can be provided with a sealing gasket, ( not shown) and which cooperates with a seat of corresponding conformation, 15,
formed on a cap 34 screwed to the end of the body 1.
Another bearing surface, preferably also conical 36, is formed on the sleeve 11, which cooperates with a corresponding seat Se formed at the end of a sleeve 31.
The sleeve 11 is also provided at the lower part with a shoulder 35 forming a stop for the lower end of the screw, and it is mounted so as to slide, in the sleeve 31, screwed into the body 1, the rotation of the member 11 in the sleeve 31 is prevented by an appropriate means, such as a longitudinal rib 32, engaged in a corresponding groove of the manohon Si *
A device arranged as said, operates as follows.
The valve 4 being applied to its seat by the pressure of the fluid from the capacity 2, if one acts on the handwheel, by turning in an anti-clockwise direction for a left thread of the orgame 8, the sleeve 11 is lifted
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
and, sliding in the sleeve 31, comes to rest by its bearing 11 against the seat 13, forming between these members a seal 'and reed. From this moment, the continuation of the rotation of the handwheel 32, in the same direction as previously, causes the via 8 and consequently the rod 7 and the valve 4 to descend, moving the last one from its seat. Fluid can thus flow from capacity 2 through passage 14, or fluid can be introduced into capacity 8 through the same passage.
The reverse rotation of the flywheel 38 and of the rod 3, causes the rise of the screw @ relative to the sleeve 11 until the valve 4 returns to its seat, after which the sleeve II descends relative to the sleeve 31, and this until contact between the bearing surface 25 and the seat 36, any additional rotation of the handwheel 32 energetically blocking the valve 4 on its seat.
To maneuver this valve using the lever 16, it would suffice, after having raised a little, or until contact between the bearing surfaces111 and seat 13, the sleeve 11 relative to the sleeve 31, to lower the said lever, which has the effect of sliding the sleeve 11 in the sleeve 31 and removing the valve 4 from its seat, and this until the bearing and seat 35 and 36 come into contact with each other , forming a tight seal between them. The fluid could thus pass from the capacity 2 through the passage 14, as the fluid could be introduced from the outside into the capacity.
From the open position, le.retour of the valve 4 on its seat takes place under the action of the fluid from the capacity, but if it was necessary or desirable, a spring or other could be provided, elastic return member arranged between the shoulder 37 of the body 1 and the inferior la.face.inférieur of the sleeve 11.
In the arrangement of the figure-et. We have taken the whole
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
of the two valves 4 and 11 of FIG. 1, but the operating rod
8 is shaped in the form of a fast-pitch screw, engaged in the guide 9 as shown, the top of which is provided with a drive square 50 and equipped with an anti-friotion member, such as a ball or roller 39.
The pitch of the screw 8 is such that the pressure of the fluid in the capacity 2 is sufficient to move the crew of the valves 4 and 11 and of the screw to apply the valve 4 to its seat, after which a slight rotation in the same direction is communicated. square 33 using a wrench or other suitable tool perfects this application by determining a slight jamming of the screw in its guide.
To open the valve 4, and apply the valve 11-12 on its seat 13, it suffices to lower the lever 16 until this application is obtained, after which a slight additional rotation of the via 8 generates a significant pressure of contact by a slight wedging of the screw @ in its guide 9.
According to fig. 6, the arrangement of the valves 4 and 11 is the same, but the intimate application of the valve 4 on its seat is in principle ensured by a strong spring 40 mounted between a shoulder
41 of the body 1 and a guide 42 mounted so as to be able to slide in the body 1, without however being able to turn in the latter due to the presence of a lug 43 at the head 44 partially engaged in the guide 42 and partly in body 1 and retained by screwing in the latter
The actuating rod 8 of the valves is threaded and screwed into the guide 42.
To open the valve 4 and apply the valve 11-12 on its seat, it suffices to lower the lever les, the opening of the valve - * taking place against the pressure of the spring 40.
The return of the valve to its seat is obtained by the action of the spring 42, and that of the fluid, but if the application obtained was insufficient to ensure perfect sealing, it would suffice
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
to rotate the via 8 in the unscrewing direction, which has the effect of making the guide 42 penetrate further into the - - body 1 and further compress the spring 40 by increasing the application pressure.
Nothing would prevent the remainder from continuing the rotation of the screw 8 until obtaining the contact of the guide 42 and the shoulder 45 of the body 1, after which any rotation to the additional area of the same direction, of this via, force mechanically the valve on its seat.
Likewise, the forced application of the valve 12 on its seat 13 could be achieved by sufficiently screwing the member 8 into the guide 42, retained by the head 44 of the screw 43, as can easily be seen by inspection due drawing.
In FIG. 7, the application of the valve 4 on its seat is still obtained by the action of the spring 40, the guide 42 however allowing itself to pass freely through the threaded rod 8, which is prevented from rotating in this guide by known means, not shown, while the greater or lesser tension of the spring is controlled by the nut 46 or an equivalent member *
The arrangement is otherwise the same as in Figure 6, except that the application of the valve 4 is only elastic, and that of the valve 11-12 only controlled by the lever 16.
In FIG. 8, the arrangement is such that the forced mechanical application of the valve 4 on its seat does not appreciably modify the operating conditions of this valve by means of the lever 16.
According to this arrangement, the guide 43 of the pin is established in the form of a sliding sleeve in le.corps 1 and a spring \ 4? bearing on the rear face 48 of the valve 11 'maintains this sleeve against the nut 46 threaded onto the threaded rod 8, Transversely, in a housing 49 of the body 1, a sliding latch 50 is provided which is pressed by a spring 51
<Desc / Clms Page number 12>
compressed between the latch 60 and a screw 62 closing the housing 49, said latch comprising a projection 53 suitable for engaging from below the lower rim 4 of the sleeve 42, and an inclined bearing surface 65 following this projection.
On this inclined bearing rests a removable finger-56 guided in a perforation 57 of the body 1, and extending upwards to a level higher than that of the end of the threaded rod '6, so as to be engaged by lever 16 prior to any action of this lever on said threaded operating rod.
In the position of the members illustrated by the figure, which shows the projection 53 of the latch 60 engaged under the edge of the sleeve 42, we realize that the valve 4 cannot be moved away from its seat as long as a pressure exerted on the finger 56 has not determined a movement of withdrawal of the lens 50 against the action of the spring 51, and a fortiori if the finger 5b is extracted from its housing 57 as is the case during transport capacity or detached valve.
On the other hand, by acting on the nut 48, it is possible, by a screwing movement, to mechanically force the valve 4 into contact with its seat 5.
If, on the other hand, the finger 56 is depressed by a lowering of the lever 16, the latch 50 is moved against the action of its spring 51 and releases the sleeve 42, so that the lever 16 coming into contact with the end of the threaded rod 8 will be able to move the latter and, simultaneously, move the valve 4 away from its seat, this movement being able to be continued until the valve 11-12 is applied to its seat 13.
The return of the valve 4 to its seat is obtained by the action of the fluid of this capacity on this valve, an action which the.on can assist, if applicable, by that of a spring or other elastic member mounted between the shoulder 41 of the body and the valve 11.
<Desc / Clms Page number 13>
At the same time as the removal of the crew of the valves 4 and 11, the sleeve 42 rises and returns to its initial position, allowing the latch 50 to re-engage its projection 53 under the lower edge of said sleeve.
If then the sealing of the valve 4 were not perfect, it would suffice to tighten the nut 46 a little to obtain a perfect seal.,
In FIG. 9, the arrangement comprises the same set of valves 4 and 11 as before, but the operating rod is threaded only at its outer end, where it is provided with a nut 46.
Between this nut and the shoulder 4 @ formed by the upper face of the valve 11 is mounted a sleeve 69 ′ sliding on the rod 8 but engaged by a thread, preferably with rapid pitch, in a housing ¯ 89, of the body. 1.
We realize that by moving this sleeve in its housing, thanks to a suitable rotation imparted to a polygonal or knurled surface 581 that it carries, we can intimately apply either one or the other of the valves 4 and 11 on his seat. Likewise by a limited displacement, du'dit sleeve, we can give the valves sufficient freedom for one, 4, hearth away from its seat and .1'autre 13. be applied to its seat, by 1, 'lowering lever 16.
In the arrangements following the preceding figures, the operation of the valves is ensured-in particular by a simple lever, and it was previously observed that this operation could also be carried out by other means.
In FIGS. 10 and 11, the actuation of the valves is obtained in particular by means of cam levers * apple previously, 1 designates a valve body, 4 a main valve, preferably provided with a gasket formed from one of the indicated materials, 6, and cooperating with a seat 6, 11
<Desc / Clms Page number 14>
denotes an auxiliary valve, provided with a seal, preferably also made of one of the materials indicated,
12, which cooperates with a seat 13, 7 designates the rod of the main valve which is screwed into an operating rod 8;
3 designates the discharge nozzle and 14 the passage for the fluid between this nozzle and the capacity in line (not shown) to which the valve is associated. 9 designates the guide screwed on the body 1 and crossed by the rod 8. here
This rod is terminated by a ring in two parts, 60 and 61, interconnected by screws or the like 62, so as to constitute a rotation bearing for an axis 63 guided in slots 64 of a member in bell-shaped 65, screwed at 66 on the body 1. This axis ends with non-circular cross-section surfaces, and for example square, 67, on which one can engage a lever or other operating member 68, as is the case. shown in fig. 11.
In addition, the axis 63 carries two cam-shaped members, 69, and in a recess 70 of the bell-shaped member 65 is engaged a movable stop 71 whose position can be adjusted at will by acting on the screw 72 terminated by a square or other bearing 73 for adapting a key or other operating member.
The conformation of the '69 cams is such that, in the. position shown in the figures, they bear, by a boss 74, against the upper face of the guide 9 by consequently raising the rod 8 and the valves 11 and 4 and strongly applying the gasket 6 against the seat 5, while for another position, obtained by rotating the lever 68 in the direction of the arrow in FIG. 11, preferably at an angle equal to or only slightly greater than 90, they bear, by a boss 75, on the stop 7.1 and, simultaneously, lower the rod 8 and the valves II and 4, moving the latter away from his seat
<Desc / Clms Page number 15>
5 and strongly applying the gasket 12 to the seat 13.
As both the stop formed by the guide 9 and the stop 71 are adjustable, it will always be possible to close one of them. or the other valve, increase the pressure between its metal seal and its seat to remedy any leakage.
For the stop 71, the adjustment is carried out by acting on the screw 73 as indicated above, and for the stop 9, the maneuver can be carried out using any suitable device, for example using a rod or other member introduced into perforations 76 formed in the periphery of 1'.organe 9, as shown.
In practice, the stops 9 and 71 are adjusted so that the action of the cams, when they come into contact with said stops, prooure the required energetic application.
It is easy to see that just as in the arrangements described above, the lever 68 controlling the operation of the cams 69 can be separated for transport; that the passage 14 can be isolated from the operating mechanism both during the discharge of the fluid and during the recharging of pressurized fluid from the capacity or pipe to which the valve is associated, and that, during the recharging, the application valve 11 on its seat can be maintained automatically
<Desc / Clms Page number 16>
mont, by the fact that the useful extent of the valve 4 can be provided greater than that of the valve 11, the auxiliary mechanical application of the latter valve on its seat making it possible to prevent any possibility of leakage from this valve.
If desired, the pin 63 can still be locked in one or the other of the valve blocking positions 4 and 11, for example by placing on the square surfaces 67, levers or similar members, 77, which are engaged on the other hand, by hook-shaped notches, 78, on screws or the like, 79, screwed into the body 1.
In the arrangement of Figures 10 and 11, the main valve 4 opens against the pressure of the fluid, the auxiliary valve opening in the opposite direction. Without modifying anything in the rest of the arrangement, it is possible to arrange for the main and auxiliary valves to open on the contrary respectively in the direction of the pressure of this fluid and in the opposite direction, and FIG. 12 shows, by way of example, an arrangement meeting this condition, in which the seat 5 of the main valve faces upwards, and the seat 13 of the auxiliary formed valve faces downwards and, moreover, on an insert sleeve, 111 , mounted in a sealed manner in the body 1, for example by screwing, the thread of each of the members extending over a considerable length.
The so-called valves are formed on a single member 112, sliding in the body 1, and integral or in other way with the operating rod 9.
According to the embodiment of FIGS. 13 and 14, part 9 of the operating rod is provided with two flats 80 in the extent of which this part of the rod is pierced with an elongated opening 81. Beyond the flats 80, the operating rod comprises a thinned and threaded portion 10, on which is threaded a bell-shaped stop 71 and an adjustment ring 82.
<Desc / Clms Page number 17>
In the opening 81 is freely engaged uh axis 83, which advantageously receives a square section, and on this axis are mounted two cam-shaped members 69, pressing against the flats 80 and each having two bosses 74 and 75 clearly visible in fig. 14, adapted to come to bear, by rotation of the axis 83, respectively, on the bearing surfaces 84 of the rod portion 8 and on the outlets of the adjustable stop 71.
On the axis 83 are also engaged two sleeves 85 preferably having square openings 86 fitting on the axis @ 3 and, externally, cylindrical surfaces @ 7, engaging in corresponding openings 88 of a bonnet 80 screwed at 90 on the body 1 of the valve. A nut 91 secures the cap 89 in its adjustment position.
As in the arrangement of figs. 10 and 11, a lever 68 is engaged on one of the ends of the axis 83 for the operation of the valves and, in the position of this lever illustrated in the pin 14, for which the bosses 75 bear on the stop 71, the operating rod is raised by applying the valve 4 vigorously to its seat 6, while if, from this position, as indicated by the arrow in fig 14, the bosses 74 are brought to act on the bearing surfaces 84 of the rod / They lower the latter and apply the valve 11 to its seat.
The energy of these applications is regulated respectively by the nut 83 and by the position of the cap 89 relative to the body 1, by screwing or unscrewing this cap, fixed on the other hand in the position of, adjustment by the nut 91,
Sum in the embodiments previously described, when recharging the capacity or associated pipe (not shown) in pressurized fluid, the maintenance of the valve 11 on its seat can be ensured by a differential action of the fluid on the valves 4 and 11, l 'mechanical action exerted on the cams 69 which can intervene to help prevent any possibility of leakage,

FIG. 15 shows the application of the invention to a valve further comprising an additional closure device illustrated by the assembly of a diaphragm and a striker, but which could also be constituted by another valve. .
In this embodiment, we find the general arrangement of Figure 1 or 2, arranged in an auxiliary body 92, mounted in a sealed manner in the body 1, for example by a sufficiently extensive reciprocal screwing by interposing if necessary a seal Sealing 93. The passage 14 for the fluid is formed partly in the body 1 and partly in the auxiliary body 92, so as to coincide when the auxiliary body is in place.
On the other hand, in a housing 9.4 of the body 1 is mounted in the usual manner a metal diaphragm 95 closing the passage 96 of the fluid, and a striker 97 extending to the vicinity of the underside of the valve 4.
Under these conditions, when the latter valve is actuated for the. first time, with a view to its opening, it comes into contact with the end of the striker 97, and causes the latter to penetrate into the diaphragm 95, giving passage to the fluid of the associated capacity 2. The emptying of the latter can then continue, as has been explained with reference to Figures 1 and 2, but it is obvious that the plugging by the diaphragm can only be restored by replacing the latter after complete emptying of the diaphragm. capacity.
It will be appreciated, however, that by locking the main valve in its seat with the aid of the member 18, while allowing the separation of the lever 16 and the handle 24, the diaphragm 95 will not be altered or affected. destroyed during transport either of the valve mounted on a tank or of the detached valve.
With reference to the arrangements described, it has been indicated that the tightness both to the load and to the discharge was perfectly ensured by the defined valve arrangements.

However, during the passage from the open position to the closed position, or vice versa, there may be a slight escape of fluid if the movement is not executed with one. extreme speed *
This can leave the impression of a lack of tightness of the shutter.
For y ,, one can foresee in. the valve control mechanism requires an appropriate seal with regard to its nature and location.
Simply, as an example, we have shown in fig.16 how a seal. could be associated with a shutter according to fg.7 ,. this arrangement, or a similar or equivalent arrangement which can, where appropriate, be associated with the other shutter arrangements described.
In fig. 16, between a portion of the plate 11, one of the rod 8, and the c, orps 1, one has, envisaged,: a garnish,., Which is. advantageously formed with the aid of one or more washers 8b of more or less soft metal, such as lead p, for example, threaded onto a bearing surface of the plate 11 or of the rod 8 ,. or inserted into the body 1. In the example, the assembly is carried out on the plate 11 and the washer (s) 8b is or are held in place by a screwed b, 8d. In the case of several ¯, washers 8b, the latter are preferably separated by hard metal washers or the equivalent.
Although the invention has been described in relation to certain embodiments only, it is understood that it is not limited thereto, and that various modifications could be made to the arrangements defined, and used, other maneuvering devices providing at least one ,, axial displacement of the valves than those more especially. described, without departing from the limits of the invention *
