La figure 1 est une vue en plan d'une partie d'un premie.r mode de réalisation du dispositif perf ectionné objet de la présente invention; La figure 2 en est une vue par l'avant; La figure 3 représente un détail vu en coupe; La figure 4 représente, vu en plan et avec coupe partielle, un deuxième mode de réalisation du dispositif perfectionné conforme à l'invention;
<EMI ID=3.1>
qu'ils s'usent également moins vite.
<EMI ID=5.1>
<EMI ID=6.1>
<EMI ID=8.1>
<EMI ID=9.1>
<EMI ID=10.1>
"Improvement in suspension parallelograms connecting independent wheels to the chassis of motor vehicles".
<EMI ID = 1.1> resists vibrations which are transmitted to the chassis and to the bodywork, and to be subject to rapid wear at the articulation points.
The present invention relates to an improvement made to the connecting devices in question, an improvement which eliminates the aforementioned vibrations and wear, which improves road holding.
of the vehicle, which reinforces the front bumper of the car and which constitutes an additional fulcrum for the starting crank.
The device which is the subject of the present invention, a device applicable to each suspension parallelogram consists of a reinforcing bar connected, on the one hand, to one of the oscillating arms of the parallelogram in question and, on the other hand, to an axis mounted in the extension of the torsion bar and integral with the latter, the free end of the axis in question being integral with one of the two elements of a shock absorber. friction whose other element is, in turn, integral with the symmetrical element of the friction damper provided for the symmetrical wheel.
In the accompanying drawing, there is shown schematically and by way of nonlimiting examples, several embodiments of the device which is the subject of the invention, in its application to the suspension parallelogram connecting the independent and driving front wheels to the chassis or to the carcass. of a front-wheel drive motor vehicle.
Figure 1 is a plan view of part of a premie.r embodiment of the improved device object of the present invention; Figure 2 is a front view; Figure 3 shows a detail seen in section; FIG. 4 shows, in plan and in partial section, a second embodiment of the improved device according to the invention;
Figure 5 is an end view of Figure 4; FIG. 6 represents a partial sectional view of a variant of part of the device shown in FIG. 4; FIG. 7 is a view similar to FIG. 6 of another variant; . FIG. 8 is a plan view, in partial section, of another variant of the improved device according to the invention; FIG. 9 is a perspective view on a larger scale of one of the members of the new device.
In the embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 3 of the accompanying drawing, the lower articulated rigid arm integral with the torsion bar 2 is designated by 1, the upper articulated rigid arm at <EMI ID = 2.1> is designated by 3.
front left wheel of a vehicle, arms which are connected by means of ball joints 4 and 4 'to the spindle of the wheel
5. The spindle lever is designated by 6, by 7 an individual tie rod, by 8 the main tie rod, by 9 the sliding motor shaft with constant velocity joint and finally by 10 the usual hydraulic damper connected. , on the one hand, at 11, to the lower suspension arm and, on the other hand, at 12 'to the chassis 13 of the vehicle.
In accordance with the present invention, the torsion bar 2 is extended by an axis 14, the free end of which is integral with one of the two elements of a friction damper 15 and of a reinforcement bar 16 of which the other end is fixed at 11 to the suspension arm 1 by means of the device for fixing the hydraulic damper 10. The other element of the friction damper 15 is fixed to the end of a spacer cross member 17, the other end of which is, for its part, integral with the symmetrical part of the damper 15 'provided for the other wheel.
The front end of the axis 14 comprises (see Figure 3) a housing 18 in the bottom of which is a helical spring 19 compressed by a sliding rod
20, the front of which is integral with a cross member 21 connected to a symmetrical sliding rod 20 'provided for the other wheel. The cross member 21 is associated with any system of springs 22, the middle part 23 of which is integral with the bumper 24. In addition, the cross member 21 is connected to two blades 25-25 'forming, with said cross member, a non-deformable triangle of which the subject is made up of a guide
26 for the passage of the starting crank.
We immediately see that, thanks to the improvement made to the suspension parallelogram, the following advantages are combined:
The presence of the reinforcing bar 16 and its ancillary members considerably relieves the entire suspension device and in particular the joints of the arms of the parallelogram, joints of which. wear is thus considerably reduced at the same time as the vibrations which can arise on certain roads are eliminated. The seals of the sliding motor shaft 8 also benefit from-
<EMI ID = 3.1>
they also wear out less quickly. Finally, the vehicle has better handling.
The effect of the shock absorber 9 is reinforced by that of the shock absorber 15 connected via the
<EMI ID = 4.1> the additional shock absorber 15 (and 15 ') can be replaced by a suitable articulation.
Finally, thanks to the presence of the reinforcement device mounted on the front of the new auxiliary suspension members, the bumper 24 is considerably reinforced and the user finds at its disposal an additional fulcrum and guide. for the passage of its starting crank.
In the embodiment shown in Figures 4 and 5, the torsion bar 2 is connected, by means of a coupling system 27, to a sleeve 28 fluted externally and passing through the fluted hole of the lower arm 1 du: suspension parallelogram. According to the invention, on the end of the splined sleeve 28 which opens out of the shock absorber block 29 (of the type known in the trade under the name of "silentbloc", for example) integral with the cradle of the vehicle engine, is threaded a sleeve 30 bearing in
31 an inner groove capable of engaging with the outer groove of the sleeve 28 '.'
The end of the sleeve 30 opposite to that which engages the grooved sleeve-28, carries a piece
52-which, on the one hand, is connected, via the reinforcement bar 16, to the arm 1 of the parallelogram and, on the other hand, carries one of the elements of the friction damper 15.
<EMI ID = 5.1>
which cooperates with these parts, are secured by means of a rod 33, one end of which is wedged in the.
<EMI ID = 6.1>
the drawing) being engaged on a threaded part of the rod in question to ensure the locking of the various aforementioned parts between them.
A protective casing 34 covers the various parts, this casing being fixed over the block 29 by means of the same fixing screws connecting said block to the. engine cradle. At the end of this protective housing, there is a ring 35 serving to guide the sleeve 30, a lubricating device 36 ensuring the lubrication of the aforementioned sleeve in the ring.
35. The same end of the housing 34 is connected, by
<EMI ID = 7.1>. Corresponding unit of the symmetrical housing of the parallelogram suspension of the symmetrical wheel.
The device specified above is completed, as can be seen in Figure 5, by a triangulation bar 38 connected to the end of the housing 34 and fixed to the cradle of the vehicle engine by means of a bolt 39 .
The variant of detail shown in Figure 6 differs from the embodiment just described by the elimination of the shock absorber
friction 15.
In this figure, we see in particular the nut 40 engaged on the rod 33 for locking the various elements.
In the embodiment of FIG. 7, example in which provision has also been made for the elimination of the friction damper 15, the end of
torsion bar 2 is end-to-end engagement with a spline sleeve 41 passing through the spline hole of the arm
1 of the suspension parallelogram, the end of this sleeve not opening out of the silencer unit 29 fixed to the cradle of the vehicle engine. According to the invention, a sleeve 42 is introduced into the silencer block 29, the end of which, in contact with the sleeve 41, is grooved and engages in the grooved orifice of the block 29.
As in the previous example, the sleeve 42 carries the part 32 connected to the reinforcing bar 16. Likewise the housing 34, which covers the block 29, carries a guide ring 35, a lubricating device 36, the transverse bar. link 37 and the triangulation bar 38 (not visible). The parts 32, 42, 41 and 2 are joined together using a rod 4 <3>
<EMI ID = 8.1>
In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 8 and 9, each of the shock absorber blocks 29 (of the type known in the trade under the name of "silentbloc" for example ^ integral with the cradle of the engine of the vehicle and serving as an articulation to the arms 9 of the suspension parallelograms, is capped with a sleeve 45 secured to said shock absorber and to the cradle using the existing bolts 46. The front part of smaller diameter of each of the sleeves 45 is suitably split over part of its length and provided with clamping tabs 47.
In the portion of smaller diameter of the sleeves 45 are threaded cylindrical ends 48 of a corselet 49 suitably ribbed and organized. to properly surround and protect the front part
<EMI ID = 9.1>
and to strengthen the engine cradle. On each side of the corselet 49 and behind the ends 48, there is a hemispherical cavity, the center of which is on the extended geometric axis of the corresponding torsion bar (not shown in the drawing), this hemispherical cavity being closed by a cover 50, also hemispherical, so as to be able to contain a rubber sphere 51 suitably compressed, in its spherical housing, thanks to the bolts 52 serving to block the cover 50 on the corselet.
The rubber sphere 51 receives the head (not visible) of the adjustable reinforcement bar 16, the opposite end of which is fixed, as before, to the arm 9 of the suspension parallelogram.
Thanks to the fact that the articulation of the reinforcement bar 16, articulation constituted by the head encased in the rubber sphere 51, is located in the extended geometrical axis of the corresponding torsion bar, a perfect reinforcement assembly is obtained. and without play of each of the suspension parallelograms.
The cylindrical ends 48 of the corselet 49 are locked in each of the sleeves 45 by means of screws 53 passing through the attachment tabs-47. A spacer 54 of the corselet 49 carries in its middle an iron
<EMI ID = 10.1>
oval fices 57 formed in the fitting in question. This fitting is raised forward to be secured to the bumper 24 and it has, from below, a ring 58 serving as a towing ring.
The raised front part of the fitting 55 also comprises a removable support 59 for the starting crank 60.
It is also possible to combine the various embodiments specified above with one another; the variant of FIGS. 8 and 9 can in particular be combined with friction dampers (15) mounted immediately in front of the sleeves (45) and interconnected by means of the cross member (17).
