DÉPOSÉ A L'APPUI D'UNE DEMANDE
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 2 est une vue de face correspondante,
Fig. 5 est une vue de coté correspondante.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

DESCRIPTIVE MEMORY
SUBMITTED IN SUPPORT OF A REQUEST
OF PATENT OF INVENTION Support foot or bicycle crutch.
The invention relates to a support leg or a bicycle crutch, which is fixed to the frame of the bicycle and the uprights of which can be rotated in the direction of travel.
The object of the invention is to simplify the construction of these devices, to increase the stability of the bicycle during their use and to facilitate handling by ensuring that it is sufficient to initiate the pivoting to automatically obtain the positions of the bicycle. limit switch.
According to the invention, a pivot is mounted on a keel, fixed projecting from top to bottom to the frame of the bicycle and embracing the bottom bracket from below,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
four uprights, the pairs of which pivot in the same plane, lend themselves to being folded into one another, to be joined by a locking device and to be brought together into and out of the position of use. According to another characteristic of the invention, the uprights are subjected to the action of an elastic force which, after initiation of the pivoting movement, causes them to pivot to the end-of-travel position and maintains them in this position.
The accompanying drawings show by way of example two embodiments of the invention.
Fig.l is a side view of the support leg in the position of use,
Fig. 2 is a corresponding front view,
Fig. 3 is a side view of the support leg in the non-use position,
Fig. 4 is a front view showing an example of a special embodiment with lockable locking of the two pairs of uprights, and
Fig. 5 is a corresponding side view.
In Figs. 1 and 3, reference numerals 1 and 2 designate the bars of the bicycle frame, 3 is the rear wheel fork and 4 is the bottom bracket.
On the fork of the rear wheel is fixed by means of a clamping plate 5 and a bolt 6 with nuts a plate 7 which is bent around the bottom bracket and which embraces it like a bucket. . From this bucket protrudes from top to bottom a keel 8 of U-shaped section, the wings of which are crossed by a pivot 9 constituting the pivot axis for the uprights of the crutch or of the bicycle support foot. The uprights are arranged in pairs, so that one can fold against each other, respectively, two uprights 10, 10 'and 11, 11' located in the same
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
pivot plane. The uprights are angled below the joint, so as to provide four points of support on the ground with a sufficiently large support base.
The web of the U-profile of the keel 8 is notched at the bottom, so that the uprights 10, 11 meet a stop in the position of use. For uprights 10 ', 11', the stops are formed by extensions 12 of uprights 10, 11.
Springs 13, attacking the keel 8 and the outer faces of the uprights 10, 11, ensure that the uprights are elastically attracted to their end-of-travel positions, both in the non-use position (Fig. 3) and in the non-use position (Fig. 3). the position of use. So that the uprights 10 ', 11' are also pushed towards the position of use, a torsion spring can be arranged around the pivot 9 constituting their articulation. In the folded position, the uprights can be connected together in a suitable manner, which is indicated, in the example shown, by slots 14 in which the locking members can engage.
To bring the stand from the position of Fig. 3 to the position of use, we first pivot forwards, at the foot, against the springs, the two uprights together, after which having crossed the neutral, they pass by themselves to the end position. A wheel of the bicycle is then lifted off the ground. After having unlocked the ends of the uprights, the uprights 10 ', 11' can be pivoted backwards, under the action of the torsion spring, so as to constitute a kind of easel on which the entire bicycle rests. cantilevered.
The device can thus be used, at will, either as a simple crutch or as a support foot.

Various changes can obviously be made to the construction without departing from the scope of the invention.
Thus, for example, the respective uprights 10, 11 and 10 ', il' can be rigidly connected together in pairs, so that a single spring 13 is sufficient.
Figs. 4 and 5 show a special embodiment with a locking device comprising a lock 17 movable on one of the wings of the keel.
On one of the wings of the keel 8 is slidably mounted a lock 17. This is pulled from top to bottom by a coil spring 22 fixed to the upper end of the lock by a pin 23 and it thus ensures, thanks to the wedge-shaped notch, of its lower end 21, engaging the ends of the pairs of uprights 15, 16 and 15 ', 16', that the uprights are prevented from folding unexpectedly from their position of use.
For guiding the latch 17, its lower end is hollowed out with a buttonhole 18 in which is guided a button 19 riveted in the wing of the keel 8 and constituting at the same time the attachment point of the other end of the spring traction 22.
On the button 19 is at the same time articulated a trigger 24 whose angled upper end 25 maintains in the lower locking position the raised part 26 of the latch 17. The trigger 24 is clamped by the spring 27 against the latch 17. For the guiding the lock, in addition, a yoke 20 is attached to the wing.
In the wing of the keel 8 is further provided a suitable hole for a key 28. When the key is turned, the trigger first pivots and thus allows, during a subsequent rotation of the key, the upward movement. of the latch 17, so that one can then fold back from their position of use
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
the two pairs of uprights 15, 16 and 15 ', 16'.
In general, when the support leg is unfolded into its position of use, the pairs of uprights 15, 16 and 15 ', 16' automatically jump into the wedge-shaped notch of the lower part 21 of the latch 17, and this n It is only after having inserted and turned the key that the support leg can be folded back from its position of use.
However, if one does not want to involve this automatic locking, one can maintain the latch 17 in its upper position by pressing the button 31 which, in general, is pushed outwards by a spring 32; the pairs of uprights 15, 16 and 15 ', 16' can then also be pivoted out of their position of use without using the key, given that the uprights are no longer blocked.
