convection.

convection.
It follows that, in order to obtain in internal combustion engines an average temperature of the walls of the explosion chamber, as low as possible while the engine is running, it is necessary to fulfill the following double condition: a) absorption reduced to a minimum of heat by the internal face of the wall in contact with the hot gases of the engine cycle, b) evacuation pushed to its maximum, that is to say as quickly as possible of the heat which may have penetrate through the metal, this evacuation having to be effected by the external face of the wall in contact with the cooling fluid.
All other conditions, especially convection, being kept equal, taking into account the specific conductivity of the metal adopted.
The process according to the invention, which makes it possible to achieve these desiderata, consists in providing the combustion or explosion chamber of heat engines with composite walls, the internal face of which, that is to say in contact. with the hot gases of the engine cycle, has been subjected to a tightening of the molecules or surface hardening reducing its absorbing power, while the external face, in contact with the coolant, is reco @ green by any suitable means of a adherent oxide such as, for example, a sesquioxide increasing the emissivity of this wall, with the aim, on the one hand, by reducing the absorption of heat by the face of the wall in contact with the hot gases resulting from combustion or explosion and, on the other hand,
by increasing the speed of evaporation of the heat which may have penetrated into said wall, to make it possible to obtain an average temperature, in the cycle, as low

as low as possible, of the walls constituting the explosion chamber and, consequently, to increase the efficiency of the engine by raising the compression ratio without having to fear the phenomenon of self-ignition.
In the accompanying drawing which shows schematically, by way of example of an embodiment of the invention, embodiments of the engine to which this invention is applied:
Fig. 1 is a partial section showing the explosion chamber of a water-cooled internal combustion engine,
Fig. 2 is a partial soup of the explosion chamber of an air-cooled engine.,
In the embodiment of FIG.
1, the face 1 of the head of the piston 2 and the inner face 3 of the cylinder head 4 of the engine, 1 and 3 delimiting the explosion chamber 5 of the engine, are subjected, according to the invention, to a tightening of the Molecules or surface hardening obtained by rolling, hammering, or otherwise, thereby reducing the absorbency of said faces 1, 3.
The inner face 6 of the piston head not in contact with the hot gases of the cycle, but on the contrary, cooled by the ventilation of the crankcase and. the face 7 which delimits the water circulation jacket 8 of the cylinder 9, will on the other hand be coated, for example by an appropriate treatment, electrical, chemical, electrochemical or other, with an adherent oxide such as for example that a sesquioxide of the metal constituting these elements, which promotes the rapidity of temperature exchange between said walls and the fluid with which they are in contact.
In the embodiment of FIG. 2 ,, which shows a

subjected to a hammering or similar treatment, determining a tightening of the molecules or a surface hardening, the inner face 15 of this head being covered with an adherent oxide such as a sesquioxide of the metal constituting the piston.
The inner face 16 of the cylinder head 17 is also hammered, or collapses by an equivalent treatment, while the fins 18 which are on the outer face of this cylinder head 17 are covered with a suitable adherent oxide increasing the emissive power.
The invention presents, in addition to the improvement in engine efficiency resulting from the reduction in the quantity of heat withdrawn from the cycle by the walls of the engine, the following advantages resulting from the increase in the compression ratio: a - Increase in power and efficiency, b - Reduction in fuel consumption, o - Better idling due to a reduction in the quantity of burnt gases, d - Better start-up thanks to the better volumetric efficiency of the engine operating as a pump , e - Lower temperature of the exhaust gases, better conservation of the exhaust valves, f - Reduction at high speeds of the load on the big end of the gas pressure, balancing the inertia forces better.
The invention is applicable to the establishment of combustion or explosion chambers of heat engines, explosion, internal combustion or others, of any design, of any power, and for all applications.
