<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The object of the present invention is a framework for a metallic coating, more particularly intended for mine galleries and capable of adapting to all the conditions required by practice.
The object of the invention is characterized by the combination of metal parts which can slide all or in part, with one or more articulations, in addition to the natural articulations constituted by the feet of such covering frames which rest. directly or indirectly on the ground; this combination therefore forms an articulated polygon with several branches, ie five, for example, one of which is formed by the ground, the main support base. The profile used for these metal parts can be an ordinal profile -re, L, T, I, U etc., or any special profile: rails,

and others.

The articulation will be formed by a pivot around which the adjacent branches of the polygon pivot. It may, however, also be constituted by a ball joint, a universal joint or any other equivalent technical component.
The invention will be described by way of example with reference to the figures of the drawing. Annex,
Figure 1 is an elevational view of a cover frame according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a cross section at the location of the sliding joint of the suit of Figure 1.
The figure is an elevation of an alternative embodiment, among the many different cases of application, the example of figures 1 and 2 relates to a polygonal element with five branches, in V-section profile, with three joints to pvot. This esc frame made up of two half-branches A-A ', articulated in pl. Two half-branches B-B 'are connected in the same way to the straight legs C-C', which can move around the articulation pivots P2-P3, substantially parallel to the pivot P1. The right feet CC 'can move around the pivots P2-P3 in a pian perpendicular to these pivots, and they can also move around the natural pivots, at their point of support D and D' on the ground . The half-branches A-B, A'-B 'overlap each other over a length of about 40 cms.
Two plates H forming friction liners are interposed between the half-branches, and the assembly forming a joint is clamped by stirrups E, on the branches of which a bridge is applied. fully tightened by nuts G screwing on the threaded ends of the stirrups E. this assembly allows relative sliding of the branches A, B and A ', B'.
The combined device of a frame with sliding branches and articulations, constitute an articulated polygon and sliding parts, either with five branches or any other number of ael- les, will adapt to any pressure from or. let her come.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The technical advantages of this arrangement, perfected by the combination of sliding and articulations, are numerous and interesting.
The support frames of this species are softer and more elastic than any other; they adapt to all cases of practice, whatever the direction of the pressure.
'Thanks to the joints, throughout the duration of the sliding, the half-branches forming a sliding assembly sound; relatively movable, preferably having the same radius of curvature, will always have a common center in any position and this unlike all other single sliding frame devices, as they are currently on the market. half-paid.
In these anaiens devices, the two / branches, even supposing that they have a common center at the time of placement, have different centers which move further and further apart as the branches slide, this which has for result, by separating the two half-branches more and more, to cause dangerous tensions in the bolts or assembly brackets, tensions which go up to the rupture of these, which always presents danger to personnel and maintenance of the coating; tension not only occurs in the assembly elements, but, in the case of particular profiles, compression of the half-branches is caused which radically eliminates any possibility of sliding, and this inevitably results in deformations of the assembly.
The new improved coating has, on the other hand, the advantage that the section of the gallery will be much better preserved under any pressure.
As the whole of the coating remains in the same plane, the overlap of the branches with respect to each other so prejudicial in certain known coatings will be eliminated.
At the end of the sliding, the two half-branches form a

very resistant assembly and the disassembly remains in any case very easy. The recovery and, therefore, the re-installation

plo: L of these coatings sarJno rt # an maximum, because the various constituent elements are less exposed to deformation. The devices according to the invention apply in all cases of practice, thus, for example, in the figure
3 is illustrated an alternative embodiment intended for only vertical pressures. this covering comprises M, N beams assembled at the head by a joint
P1 assembled at the ends of the joists by fish-joints
K.
Two slides R, R 'are formed at the feet of the frame, secured by suitable assembly brackets. rather, this form produces a three-sided polygon, one of which is formed by the ground.
Claims'
