nothermiquel,
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Dans ce dessin : la fig. 1 est une vue schématique de l'ensemble du groupe de chauffage ainsi que de la buse de chauffage et de son support ; les figs. 2 et 3 sont respectivement des vues en plan correspondantes du support de buse es de la tête de gielage;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

nothermiquel,
The present invention relates to a mobile heating unit for thermite welding, the said group being remarkable in particular by the fact that it comprises a giolage device to which the gasoline arrives from a pressurized tank and which sprays it in a current. low pressure air supplied by an oompressor or booster. This avoids any gasoline heating device.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
As a whole, and here is another remarkable particularity, the group object of the invention comprises, mounted on a rolling chassis for a wheelbarrow or two-wheeled stroller, the salivants: a gas tank, an air pump, preferably Maneuverable by hand, to put this tank under pressure, a compressor or booster and a motor driving the latter, a jetting head and pipes connecting this head to the gasoline tank and to the compressor.
Preferably, the giolage head is double in order to make it possible to supply at the same time deum heating nozzles.
Moreover, another remarkable arrangement resides in that the heating nozzle is carried by a support independent of the group and allowing the nozzle to be adjusted in height and direction, support consisting for example of a stake inserted into the ground and a set of sliding sleeves.
By way of non-limiting example, there is shown in the attached drawing a particular embodiment of the group which is the subject of the invention, an embodiment having the remarkable features mentioned above as well as certain other features also forming part of the invention.
In this drawing: fig. 1 is a schematic view of the entire heating unit as well as of the heating nozzle and its support; figs. 2 and 3 are respectively corresponding plan views of the nozzle holder and the gel head;
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
fig. 4 is a sectional view, on a larger scale, of the nozzle.
In the example 'embodiment shown, the group comprises a low carriage 1 with two wheels at the rear, at the. like a wheelbarrow, two feet 2 and stretchers 3. On this trolley are mounted a small internal combustion engine 4 and a booster 5, respectively arranged at the two ends of the trolley, a gasoline tank 6 placed in the middle, a pump hand-operated air 7 and a spray head 8. The motor 4 is connected to the booster 5 by a clutch, not shown, and a belt. A pipe 9 connects the air pump 7 to the tank 6 and a serpentine pipe 10 connects the spray head 8 to a tube 11 which plunges to the bottom of the tank 6. A shut-off valve 12 is placed at the bottom. outlet of this tube 11 from the reservoir 6.
On the delivery port of the booster 5 is mounted a right-angle elbow 13 extended upwards by a vertical pipe 14 which carries the jetting head 8.
It will be noted that it is the cylinder of the air pump 7 itself arranged vertically which constitutes one of the feet 2.
As shown in fig. 3, the giolating head 8 is double. It comprises an elbow 15 at right angles which covers the upper end of the tube 14 and which has a horizontal branch 16 directed towards the reservoir 6. This branch opens into a transverse pipe 17 terminating at each end at a horizontal pipe 18. A valve 19-placed on the pipe 17 allows to isolate one of the pipes 18. At the end of each pipe 18 is mounted a nozzle 20. The giolage section is adjustable by a central rod 21 with a needle which is screwed into the gi -
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
alue and can be operated by an external button 22.
This seat has, after the needle, a part 23 forming a needle in order to completely close off the gielage orifice. A pipe 24 connects the two jets 20 to one another and it is to this that the gasoline inlet pipe 10 ends. The heating nozzle 25 is bent and slidably mounted in a sleeve 26 or it can be immobilized by a pressure screw 27. This sleeve 26 carries another sleeve 28 which is perpendicular to it and which can slide on a horizontal bar 29; a pressure screw 30 makes it possible to immobilize the sleeve 28 in any position. The bar 29 is itself carried by a slide 31 movable along a pile 32 which is plugged vertically into the earth; the slide 31 can be immobilized by a pressure screw 33.
Each heating nozzle 25 is connected to the corresponding pipe 18 by a flexible pipe 34.
The operation and use of the group described above are as follows:
The tank 6 having been pressurized from 2 to 4 kgs. by means of the air pump 7, gasoline reaches under pressure in the jets 20 as soon as the tap 12 is open. When the needle 23 is moved away from the freezing orifice of one of the nozzles 20, the gasoline escapes through this orifice, is sprayed and is entrained by the air current which circulates in the corresponding pipe 18.
From there the mixture travels through flexible pipe 34 to heating nozzle 25 at the outlet of which it is ignited. When the tap 19 is open, the air is distributed between the two pipes 18 and the group can thus supply two heating nozzles 25; if the tap 19 is closed, the group can only feed one nozzle 25 but
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
the heat source which this nozzle constitutes is then more intense than when the two nozzles are in service simultaneously.
In its journey along pipe 34, the fuel mixture perfects its privacy.
Furthermore, the connection 13 serves as an oil separator. The oil entrained by the air delivered by the booster comes to be deposited in effect.on the vertical face of this connection which is located opposite the discharge port of the booster and is struck perpendicularly by the air current. The oil collects in the bottom of the connection from where a drain cock allows to evacuate it.
To weld a railroad rail on site, for example, the pile 32 is grounded near the weld to be made and the heating nozzle 25 is suitably oriented while the mobile unit remains relatively far away, then it is placed in the latter walks.
The second nozzle allows a second weld to be carried out simultaneously a few meters from the first.
