<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

"Rubber coupling mahchen for ventilation pipes".
This invention relates to a device intended to ensure the tight coupling of ventilation pipes and, in general, of gas circulation, such as, for example, the ventilation pipes of coal mines.
The object of the invention is to achieve a more om less elastic connection between the various pipes of the oanali.- sation, and, at the same time, to ensure the seal, which often leaves much to be desired.
The coupling device according to the invention consists essentially of a sleeve of flexible material and, of
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
preferably elastic, formed by rubber or a rubber compound, which can be reinforced by means of fibers or fabrics embedded in the material.
In order to allow the tubes to 'follow certain curves, these sleeves comprise, according to the invention, longitudinal corrugations or folds forming longitudinal ribs provided during manufacture, and which allow local compression or elongation of the sleeve under the effect external solicitation.
These corrugations also increase the resistance of the sleeve itself and they allow the binding of the sleeve to the metal piping in the case of ascending or inclined pipes,
The object of the invention is described below, by way of example, and shown in section in the accompanying drawing.
Figure 1 shows a section of a coupling in a straight line.
Figure 2 shows a section of a coupling without inclined path.
In these figures, 1 and 2 are the tube ends used for ventilation and which must be connected in a sealed manner and, preferably, removable.
To this end, the invention provides a sleeve 3 of vulcanized rubber, which can be reinforced with fabrics, fibers or other reinforcements, embedded or surface. In order to allow reciprocal inclination of the tube ends, the sleeve in question has corrugations 4. These corrugations extend mainly over the central part of the sleeve and completely cover the surface of this part.
The ligation of the sleeve 3 on the tube ends is effected either simply by the elasticity of the sleeves, or by means of any ligatures currently known for this use.

It is obvious that the sleeve according to the invention can be manufactured for all common diameters of tubes and to the desired thickness.
CLAIMS. l.- Coupling device for ventilation and other piping, characterized in that it consists of a flexible material sleeve, preferably formed by rubber or a rubber compound, reinforced or not by fibers or fabrics , drowned in matter.
