<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
La fig. 1 montre une vue et coupe de la paroi chauffante;
La fig. 2 représente une coupe correspondante
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
à II-II de la fig. 1;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
(fig.

Metal heating wall for internal heating distillation furnaces.
The invention relates to interior heating walls for still furnaces provided in the furnace in a movable manner to facilitate the emptying of the coke. The walls of this kind are very bulky; they are used, for example, with a width of 3 m and a height of 5 m and it is essential that they be absolutely waterproof. Any deformation during service is to be avoided, given that the destillation chambers arranged between these walls are only 100 m / m wide.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
It has already been suggested to manufacture these cast steel walls or two large sheet metal plates joined by welded or riveted partitions. Molding the walls is very difficult, as the cores are very long and tend to twist. If, on a large scale, a fairly sound and tight cast iron is required, the thick walls become inevitable, which makes the heating walls too heavy and expensive.
On the other hand, with the cast walls, having sufficient rigidity in themselves, there is a risk that they will work in service *
The manufacture of the walls in two TV panels with riveted partitions did not give satisfactory results, because the temperature being constantly high, the rivets get tired and there are non-seals giving access to the gases to the water. inside the walls which, by being consumed here, cause a rapid distruotion of the walls.
Welding the sheet metal walls is also impracticable, the interior space of the heater being insufficient to allow the worker to work there safely and economically. Walls of this type also have the drawback of insufficient rigidity.
The difficulties mentioned above are of such scope that they have hitherto prevented the operation of distillation furnaces of this construction.
The aim of the present invention is to eliminate these difficulties by forming the heating walls by strips of profiled sheet, arranged in the direction of the combustion gas draft, each of the strips forming for example a partition and adjacent parts of the outer wall.
The accompanying drawings show by way of example several embodiments of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a view and section of the heating wall;
Fig. 2 shows a corresponding section
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
to II-II of fig. 1;
Fig. 3 shows other possible profiles of the heating wall.
The wall according to fig. 1 and 2 consists of strips of sheet 1,2 of suitable thickness and U profile.
The free edges 2 of the U-profile are welded to the walls of the neighboring profile as visible in figure 2. The welding can be carried out anywhere outside, since with the chosen construction all the welds 3 are arranged. outside the wall and by bringing together the desired number of profiles, walls of any width are possible. The combustion gases enter through the opening 4 (fig.l) in the interior of the heater and are distributed in a front chamber 5 formed by cutting part of the partition 1 with a strip, and arrive through the heater 6 in a chamber 7 from which they exit through the other side of a partition 8 and through heaters 6 and 9 passing through chambers 10 and 7 and finally leave the heating wall through the outlet opening 11.
Because the partitions 1 are integral with the parts of the wall, this results in great rigidity and no internal tension is to be feared. The rigidity of the construction can be increased by arranging the parts 2 at different angles at the right angle, ie at the acute or obtuse angle (see Figs. 3 to 8). Figs. 3-4 show examples with profiles V, U, Z, while fig. 6 shows a construction where C profile bands are used only. The rigidity increases naturally as it approaches a pure triangular construction.
The non-planar execution of the heating surface (see Figs. 3 to 8) presents in certain embodiments the important advantage of a considerable increase in the heating surface without appreciable increase in the cost price. If the heating surface is not
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
not flat, it is advantageous to provide as much as possible for the chamber 12, intended to receive the coal to be distilled, an invariable thickness in order to ensure uniform heating of the coal everywhere, which can be achieved by adjusting the bands in such a way that in faoe of an elevation of one wall there is everywhere a hollow of the neighboring wall, this is achievable without difficulty with the selected profiles.
The same advantages or results can be achieved by bending or corrugating the heating surface portions. (fig. 5 to 8).
Since the weld is on the outer surface of the heating wall in all the shapes of section presented, the manufacture is not only inexpensive, but also very easy to control. In addition, the rigidity of the angles between the partitions and the walls is of absolute perfection given that a partition with two neighboring elements of the wall are made from a single piece of sheet metal; in this way the box construction has the strength of a cast wall. The advantage over cast walls consists above all in the fact that a chosen section requires only one or two small rolling or stamping dies for the production of the sheet metal strips regardless of the length and width of the strip. wall to be constructed, while fabrication in cast steel requires special molds and devices for each length and width.
