<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"Electric expansion valve".
It is known that in most cafes, restaurants, brasseries, etc., beers are dispensed with carbonic acid. high pressure carbonic acid carboys are used for this purpose. The acid is evacuated by the intervention of a pressure-reducing pressure gauge which generally reduces the pressure to about 1 1/2 kg, and thus directed towards dispensing valves placed, in general, within easy reach. with his hand behind the counter, this way of proceeding has a major drawback in that it is not possible for the customer to assess exactly when and during what period of time he must operate these dispensing valves.
In fact, it should be noted that beer is saturated with natural carbonic acid, which must be maintained there by a constant pressure greater than that at which the beer has.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
been saturated.
To remedy this drawback, he has put on the market mano-regulators that adapt to the cylinder and are connected directly to the various barrels, which thus automatically ensures constant pressure. however, that these devices allow the stone to be debited in a satisfactory manner, they nevertheless offer the great drawback of remaining unattended because they are generally located in a remote place and in particular in the cellar.
Consequently, the dealer not being in any way warned of possible and even very frequent leaks at the connections of barrels, pipes, etc., it follows that a large part of the carbonic acid escapes in pure waste.
The invention consists in the main order in the combination of a valve, or any member, controlling the outlet of the compressed gas, with an electrical device whose circuit is established or broken according to the pressure prevailing at the places of use of the gas. compressed, which makes it possible to place, near the flow- * bitant, a visual or audible signal activated when the omitted gas is delivered and also, in a persistent manner, when the generator or accumulator of compressed gas is empty or pretty much empty.
The present invention also relates to an electric pressure reducing valve, very easily adjustable to the desired pressure and actuating a warning signal, placed near the flow-through, each time the carboy must deliver carbonic acid.
In this way, therefore, all the acid contained in the carboy can be used exclusively for the flow of beer and losses due to lack of sealing of the elements of the piping can therefore be avoided. In addition, the signal warns that the cylinder is empty, the signal remains on.

The apparatus consists substantially of two essential parts, the first of which consists of an automatic switch-off manometer, as it already exists. in operation 4 tion, while the second part is formed by an intake valve controlled by an electromagnet, itself controlled by the automatic switch.
In the attached drawing:
FIG. 1 is an installation diagram according to the invention and in which the part developed in detail below is indicated at A.
Figure 8 is a vertical section through the intake valve device.
FIG. 3 is a schematic elevational view of an automatic switch.
According to these figures and in accordance with 1'invention, the valve device therefore substantially comprises a valve body 1, fixed directly, for example by screwing, to the male connector of the cylinder. In the axis of the body 1 is placed a rod 2, which is terminated at one end by a conical bulge, capable of completely obstructing the orifice communicating with the carbonic acid compressed in the cylinder, this rod is held by an elastic diaphragm 3. which hermetically closes the valve body 1, so that the compressed gas can escape only through the piping provided for this purpose and extended by one or more conduits opening out. on the other hand, at the places of use.
The rod 8 is extended through the membrane 3 and the cap 5 of an electromagnetic device, this part 5 is preferably made of mild steel, and constitutes the envelope which closes the magnetic circuit of an electromagnet formed by a coil 6.a core 7 and said cap 5,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Finally, on the body 4. is still arranged a safety valve 8, of any model already. known on the market, In combination with this valve device is used an automatic pressure gauge, made in a particularly simple way and made up as follows:
in a coil spring 11 is introduced a rubber tubing 12, closed at one end and having, for example, the shape of a test tube. The interior of this elastic specimen is in communication with the pipe 13, itself connected to the pipe connecting the cylinder to the barrels. The connection between the specimen 12 and the pipe 13 is made by a connecting piece 14 , which, with the intervention of the screws 15, firmly clamps the bead of the rubber test piece between said connector and the support 16. The coil spring 11 is held in this support by one end and is integral with the 'other end, of a stopper 17.
On the other hand, the support 16 is integral with a rod 18, on which the foot of a mercury switch can slide. The latter consists, for example, of a slider 19, which can be moved on. the rod 18 and wedged therein, in any position deemed suitable, by clamping screws 20. This slider 19 carries a journal 21, on which is mounted a cradle 22 on which rests the mercury tube 23 forming the switch itself. A return spring 24 urges the cradle 22 and the mercury tube 23 permanently in their normal position, that is to say that closing the electrical circuit of the mercury switch.
Finally, the rod 18 is graduated in a conventional manner, so that the tilting of the mercury switch is caused under the required and duly pre-established conditions.
It is understandable, in fact, that the stop 17 will come into contact with the foot of the cradle 22 after a deformation of the spring 11 proportional to the position of the slider 19 on
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
the rod 18. Therefore./the operation of the apparatus according to the invention is therefore understood as follows:
after having adjusted: the automatic switch pressure gauge, for example the one shown in fig., so that the electrical circuit of the mercury switch is open when the pressure has reached a maximum, the current is established. . by this fact, the core 7 of the electromagnetic device is drawn into the solenoid 6 and thus moves towards the bottom of the casing or cap 5. ljar this fact, this core 7 pushes back the rod 2. which thus opens the communication with compressed carbonic acid. it can therefore normally be debited to the places of use. Consequently, it stevacues in the barrels and also in the test tube 12 of the pressure switch.
It is understandable that, when the pressure has reached within this last predetermined maximum pressure, this will also remain in the barrels and throughout the pipe. At this time, the spring 11 of the mano-switch being sufficiently deformed, it applies the stop 17 against the foot of the hoop 22, which oscillates around its pivot 21 and thus causes the tube to tumble. mercury 23. The electrical circuit is therefore broken.
It follows that the circuit of the solenoid 6 being or green, the core 7 is returned to its initial position due to the pressure exerted by the gas compressed against the corresponding part of the rod 2, which, while pushing back said core 7 , energetically closes the compressed gas outlet. The circuit will be reestablished when the pressure has decreased in the barrels and, consequently, in the piping and the pressure switch, and has reached a preset minimum.
Any visual or audible warning light or warning device is connected in parallel with solenoid 6.
