"APPARATUS TO CLEAN AND SOFTEN WATER"
The present patent relates to an apparatus intended to purify and soften water in which a simple rotation of the evacuation tube integral with a cone acting as a plug housed in the head of the apparatus makes it possible to reverse the water passages, during regeneration, without having to open a cover or operate a tap, in which the central tube or several tubes with the distributor allows the passage of water through all the softener mass or material filtering, in two different directions.
Other characteristics of the apparatus will be set out in the specification below.
In order to bring out the above description more clearly, the accompanying drawings represent, by way of example of a constructive modality, an apparatus executed in accordance with the object of the invention.

FIG. 2 represents a cross section of yours in the apparatus according to AB FIG. I, the vertical outer tube, that is to say in position to give fresh water.
Fig.3 shows a sectional elevation of the distributor head according to CD fig.2.
Fig.4 shows a sectional elevation of 1: distributor head following CD fig.2, the inner cone turned 45 and the outer tube inclined 45 washing and regeneration position.
Referring to the figures above, the apparatus comprises a swiveling combined head, the hollow body or reservoir, the central tube or several tubes with the distributor, and finally the softening mass or filtering sand.
The combined head consists of a cast iron body I with suitable recesses.
The seven recesses provided to house the male cone 2, the circular hollow 3 into which the openings emerge! hard water inlet, openings from foundry.
The other openings' indicated in the drawings are drilled and countersunk and are: a) the hole 5 coming from the base of the body I ending in 2. serving as a housing and guide for the central tube 7 b) the channel of air evacuation 8. end at 6. c) the hole in the sleeve 9. d) the pipes 10 and II.
The arrival of hard water is made by an adjustment, which is fixed either to the right in 10 or to the left in II of the combined head I, in 9 the externally threaded bush has a smooth opening which serves to receive and guide the needle 12 regulating the discharge of air, a. nut 13 fixed on the external thread of the sleeve 9 to its drilled and threaded axis to receive and allow the operation of the needle 12 and. is also used as a press

The male cone 2 has several passages. a) The chamber 14 with 2 buttonholes 16 and 17 serving to put it in communication with the circular hollow 3 through openings 4. b) The continuation in 8 'in the cone 2 of the air evacuation channel 8 of the body I which joins at 6 the tube 15. c) Two holes 18 and 19 drilled perpendicular to the horizontal axis of the cone 2 and inclined at 45 with respect to the vertical axis;
see, fig. 4, serve to put the tube 7 in communication with the. tube 15 when the regeneration is carried out, the tube 15 being inclined to the left cu right to. 45. d) A hole drilled along the horizontal axis receives the tube

2 is retained dans.its housing by a stuffing box nut 20 serving at the same time as a stop for the pressure spring 2I, assuring the contact seal between the body I and the cone 2.
.
The combined head I is secured to the hollow body 38 by a threaded ring 22. A part 23 intended to ensure the suspension of the device from the wall by means of the support 24 allows the head.
I a rotational movement.
The opening 25 drilled in the sleeve 26 of the combined head serves as a guide for the tube 7, a rubber ring 27 ensuring the sealing of the assembly.
The distributor consists of a stamped part 28 cone whose open top is welded to the central tube 1 or several, four holes drilled at the edge of this part are used to 'assemble by means of rivets 29 the following parts:

By this new construction the water passes uniformly throughout the mass in both directions, which is of capital importance for the correct functioning of the apparatus.
