<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Elastic joint tube reccord"
It has often been the practice heretofore to connect the ends of metal pipes by means of a weld which, while requiring considerable time, often left something to be desired from the point of view of the durable tightness of the junction. Such connections, moreover, must be made by tradespeople, which obviously greatly increases the final cost price.
The object of the present invention is a pipe connector which has as main characteristic that the connection of the two ends of the pipe is effeotée by means of an elastic joint ensuring the tightness and at the same time attaching the two elements. of the junction.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Sleeve fittings already exist for connecting metal pipes, but in these the joint is usually rigid and the pipe ends must be expanded to allow their attachment in the fitting. the device according to the invention, on the contrary, is a connector which consists essentially of a sleeve threaded externally at both ends, and onto which are screwed the connection rings freely crossed by the ends of the tubes to be joined, the tightening of these rings compressing plastic, elastic gaskets located in the sleeve cited and surrounding the end of the tubes in order to maintain them, and to make the junction completely waterproof.
The pressure of the tightening rings is transmitted to the elastic seals by means of one or more non-deformable washers which slip into the aforementioned stuffing boot.
The invention is not limited moreover to simple sleeves ensuring the connection of a single pipe, it is in fact easy to establish similar sleeves for biffurcations or multiple connection points.
In order to make it clearer.) The object of the invention and the fundamental idea which is the basis of its construction, a practical example is shown in longitudinal section in the accompanying drawing and detailed below.
The connection device according to the invention consists first of all of a central sleeve 1, preferably made of brass, and the two ends 2 and 3 of which are threaded on the outside, These ends 2 and 3 feel bored on the inside so as to form stuffing boxes 4 and 5. On the other hand, the central part 1 also carries denx housing 6,7, which hold the end ends of the pipe.
The stuffing boots 4 and 5 are filled with an elastic material, such as rubber, or simply plastic.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The boots mentioned bridge then closed by washers 8,9, practically non-deformable and which transmit the pressure exerted on both sides by the connection nuts 10,11. Its nuts engage on the external thread of the central sleeve 1 thereby causing increasing pressure on the parts 8, 9 and consequently on the prohibited jams 4 and 5.
The tube connector thus shaped allows the introduction from both sides of the ends 12, 13 forming part of the pipe to be connected. These ends must not undergo any treatment having the effect of modifying their profile, given that all the parts of the fitting allow these ends to pass, and that the tightening is only carried out when the tubes are in place. This tightening has first of all as supposed by the fact of the strong compression of the elastic materials in question, to ensure the etanoheity of the pipe, and then to maintain by the sole fact of this compression the ends of the pipe inside the sleeve according to the invention.
The advantages of such a device are multiple, but are mainly the ease of assembly by an inexperienced worker, the possible disassembly and the perfect tightness of the assembly, which provide superiority over other connection methods.
