<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

{Prepayment device for automatic billiards.
The present invention relates to a prepayment device for automatic billiards, combined with a clockwork mechanism for releasing, after introduction of a coin, the balls of the game and allowing the re-use of the balls which have fallen into the holes of the billiard table, for a period of time. time interval set by the owner of the device, for example 15 minutes.
The object of the invention is an apparatus of the aforementioned type, which operates only by the introduction of a coin of strictly determined diameter, which is at the same time very simple, very robust and which surely prevents any fraud.
The various advantages and characteristics of the invention will become apparent from the description which follows, given with the support of the appended drawing given by way of non-limiting example of embodiment and in which: FIG. 1 is a longitudinal section of the device , Fi g. 2 is a plan view,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Fig.3 is a section along line III-III of fig.l, and
Fig.4 is a section along the line IV-IV of fig. 1.
In this drawing 1 designates the wall of the billiard table in which there is a slot for introducing the coin towards an inclined guide lane 2. From the side where the coin tends to fall, the lane 2 carries an opening 3. Only the parts having the exact diameter of the chosen part are prevented from falling through this opening by a slight rim 4. The other parts of a smaller diameter fall through this opening and do not allow the operation of the device. On the other hand larger coins cannot pass because of the dimensions of the intro duotion slot which exactly match the diameter of the chosen coin.
In a plane located under said guide passage are slidably mounted, longitudinally to the device, two parallel bars 5, 6. These bars are slidably mounted in the supports 7. The bar 5 comprises a rod 8 which passes through the wall 1 of the table and carries beyond an operating button 9 allows both to pull the rod 8 and the bar 5 towards the wall 1, against a spring 10 stretched between an attachment 11 of the bar 5 and a fixed point of the device.
The bar 6 comprises at its front end a longitudinal slot 12 having sufficient dimensions to allow the coin to pass out of the field and located under the end of the corridor 2. On the other hand at the end of the bar 5 is fixed a member 13 forming a cup and normally located under the slot 12 of the bar 6, The cup or internal housing 13 'of the part 13 has a shape suitable for receiving said coin by the edge and is open from the side of wall 1.
The bar 6 comprises on one side a rack toothing 14 in engagement with a clockwork mechanism shown schematically at 15. This clockwork mechanism is designed in such a way.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
so that the movement of the bar 6 towards the front of the device, that is to say towards the wall 1, raises the timer, this timer then operating to gradually return the bar 6 to its initial position for a time determined, for example 15 minutes.
Towards wall 1, and opposite rule 5, there is an adjustable stop 16, allowing the forward movement of bar 5 to be adjusted.
At the rear of the device is mounted on a pivot 17 an angled lever 18, one branch of which carries a board or rake 19 resting on and transversely to an inclined plane 20 on which the balls passed through the holes of the billiard roll, this rake in normal position retaining all these balls.
The bar 6 comprises at its rear end a hook 21 which, during the movement of the bar 6 forwards can come into contact with the arm 22 of the angled lever 18 in order to make the latter vote and raise the rake 19 by releasing all the balls. The hook 21 also carries a rod 23 which releases by the same movement a lock 24 of the rake 19.
The arm 22 has a projection 22 'which is capable, by the lever movement of the rake, of being hooked by a hook 24. This hook 24 pivots on a pivot 25 and has a tail 26 which is located in the return path of the rake. the bar 6 so as to raise the hook 24 and release the angled lever of the rake for the latter to drop.
The device thus constructed operates as follows:
The coin is pushed into the introduction slot, and this coin travels through the guide passage 2, if it has the fixed diameter. The part falls into the slot 12 and into the cup or housing 13 '. The coin is retained in the housing 13 'while having its upper part still engaged in the slot 12 such that the two bars 5 and 6 remain integral as long as the button 9 is pulled.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
maneuver, the bar 6 is moved forward at the same time as the bar 5 and the clock mechanism is reassembled. The hook 21 first operated the unlocking of the lock 24 of the rake 19 and then raised this rake by acting directly on the arm 22 of its bent lever 18.
The rake remains raised by the hooking of the projection 22 'by the hook 24. In this position the rake has first released all the balls retained by it; these balls roll on a succession of inclined planes to a poohe from which they are taken. Then all the balls which fall into the holes of the billiard pass freely under the rake 19 and can be taken back.
When the button 9 is released, the bar 6, hooked by the clockwork mechanism 15, remains behind. Consequently, the cup or housing 13 'open on the side of the wall 1, concealing itself under the slot 12 and under the coin retained in the slot 12, the coin falls into a case provided for this purpose, and not shown.
Bar 6 slowly returns to its original position, under the action of the clockwork mechanism. The duration of this return can be adjusted at will by the timer and fixes the duration of the game during which the balls return freely to the players' arrangement. Finally, the end of the bar 6 acts on the tail 26 of the hook 24 which releases the projection 22 'of the angled lever and allows the rake to return to the position for retaining the balls, a position in which it is immediately locked by the latch 24. To obtain balls s, it is then necessary to insert a new coin and pull on button 9.
FIG. 4 shows the detail of the construction of the guide corridor 2, established to remedy a possible jamming of an unauthorized part in this corridor. For this purpose, the corridor has a fixed wall 27 and a movable wall 28 pivotally mounted relative to the part 27 by a hinge 29.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
A coil spring 30 surrounding this hinge normally maintains part 28 applied against part 27 to form the normal passage 2. If an unauthorized part gets stuck in this passage, it suffices to rotate part 28 by the tail 31, to make drop the stuck piece.
