<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
dans la position voulue , le levier accroche le piston ;

The portable firearms used in the infantry and firing the regular cartridge of this weapon are non-automatic repeating rifles, machine guns or machine guns.
The repeating rifle requires for each shot the hand cocking of the rifle, the firing and the ejection of the empty case.
These operations being carried out by hand necessarily prevent the rifle from being unhooked and the re-aiming for each shot.
Submachine guns and submachine guns are usually heavy and fire a large number of cartridges without correcting the line of sight.
The object of the present invention is to eliminate 1 the drawbacks of the maneuvering of repeating rifles, inter alia to reduce the fatigue of the shooter, the slowness of the firing of the few cartridges contained in the magazine and the re-aiming of the rifle and 2 failure to correct the lines of sight of machine guns and machine guns.
This invention consists of an automatic rifle firing the regular cartridge of the infantry rifle and discharging the contents of the magazine in adjusted fire, that is, without
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
shoulder the weapon and without leaving the line of sight, pulling the trigger with each shot, as with automatic pistols.
This rifle is moreover capable of carrying out repeating fire like an ordinary repeating rifle and single shot loading firing.
The accompanying drawings show by way of non-limiting example one embodiment of the invention. This extends to the various original features included in the arrangement shown.
The fig.l is a longitudinal sectional view of the weapon.
Fig. 2 concerns the method of attaching the danon and the sleeve (shown on an enlarged scale).
Fig.3 is a rear view of the sleeve.
FIG. 4 is a view of the lock provided with its slide.
Fig. 5 is a plan view of the fi.l: the crosspiece and the forearm being removed.
Fig. 6 concerns the mode of action of the lock knob (enlarged scale).
Fig. 7 shows the method of guiding the bolt in the breech box (enlarged scale).
Fig.8 is a section âans the axis of the lock knob.
Fig. 9 shows the connecting pin between the cylinder head box and its crossette (enlarged scale).
The butt 2 has a special shape. Indeed, the handle of the rifle, instead of being behind the breech box 3, as in the other rifles, is formed in the butt itself below the box of breech through an opening 2a made in the butt in
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
rear of the trigger 4. The rear part of the butt also has a longitudinal opening 2b intended to grip and handle the rifle for fencing or bayonet combat.
The barrel 5 is not fixed directly to the breech box, it is fixed to a circular sleeve 5a by means of tenons and mortises 5m and 5n circular alternating exterior for the barrel and interior for the sleeve, As can be seen at FIG. 2 these tenons and mortises do not extend over the entire circumference but leave longitudinal passages 5p in which the tenons of the barrel can slide longitudinally.
This arrangement makes it possible to quickly dismantle the barrel, to reassemble it or to replace it without going through the workshop.The extent of the tenons and mortises is however large enough to allow a relative displacement of about a quarter of a turn between the barrel and the sleeve without the barrel tenons escaping from the sleeve mortises.
The sleeve 5a slides in the cylinder head box; it has at its rear part locking tenons 5b (see fig. 3) and at its front part a helical groove 5c (see fig. 1 and 5) in which the end of a screw 5d fixed to the box engages cylinder head and is subjected to the action of a helical spring 21 which urges it continuously forward. The baleen locks 5b engage in grooves 6a of the lock 6 and then in a groove 6b of the latter to lock the arma and form an integral whole between the barrel, the sleeve and the lock.
The lock ast connected by a rod 7 at its rear part, to a slide 7a capable of sliding longitudinally
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
in grooves (see fi.7) of the breech box. This slide carries a notch 7b on one side and on the other, a pin-tenon 7c which extends towards the front of the breech box passing next to the store. The lock also carries a shock absorber 8 at its rear part and is connected by the lower part of the rod 7 to the recovery or arming spring 9.
The shock absorber comprises a cylinder 8a screwed into the rear part of the lock and the bottom of which has two diametral grooves in which two protrusions 8b in the form of a tenon engage. These protuberances are maintained in the grooves by the action of the damping spring 8c which bears on the one hand against the bottom of the cylinder and on the other hand against the head of the damping piston 8. The head of the damping piston has two flats (not shown). ) so as to be able to be easily grasped by hand and to turn it like a screwdriver to unscrew the cylinder without the aid of any tool, and after having removed the rod 7.
When the rod 7 is placed, its upper end rests against a flat of the damping cylinder so as to oppose any unscrewing thereof.
In order to reduce the length of the weapon, the recovery cylinder is arranged at the upper edge of the butt and is located substantially in the extension of the axis of the barrel.
The barrel carries at its lower part a hooking projection 10 and the breech box carries, with respect to this projection of the barrel, a locking lever 10a of the barrel pivoted in the frame of the weapon and requested by a
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
coil spring. The rear end of this lever is arranged so as to be able to be lifted by the rod-tenon 7c of the slide.
The cocking device consists of a slide 11 sliding longitudinally on the side of the breech box and carrying the axis of rotation 12a of the knob 12 (fig.5 and 6).
This axis of rotation carries two flats cooperating with a spring 12b fixed on the slide and making it possible to maintain the pommel in its raised and lowered positions. The axis of the pommel carries a small toothing cooperating with a rack toothing provided on a tongue 11a which can slide vertically in the slide. Jans the raised position of the lock, this tongue engages in the notch 7b of the slide of the lock.
The end 12c of the pommel axis (fig. 5 and 8) is profiled in the form of a cam and cooperates with the end 13a of a locking lever 13 pivoted on the breech box and subjected to the action of 'a spring. In the lowered position of the knob the cam flank acts to pivot the locking lever against the action of its spring so that the other end 13b of this lever penetrating through the breech box comes engage in a mortise of the sleeve 5a of the barrel to prevent any longitudinal displacement of the latter.
To cock the rifle, the pommel is raised, which has the effect of releasing the end 13b of the lever 13 from the barrel sleeve and engaging the tongue 11a in the notch 7b of the slide. The pommel is pulled back by driving the latch and its slide and compressing the recovery spring 9; we then let the lock return to introduce
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
a cartridge in the magazine. During the backward movement of the lock the hammer 14 is pushed back by the part 14a of this lock until the trigger 15 falls into the cocking notch.
The rifle being loaded and cocked, if the trigger 4 is pressed, the trigger body 4a moves forward by compressing the trigger spring 4b; the end of the trigger body acts on the trigger 15 which releases the hammer which in turn strikes on the firing pin 16 contained in the bolt to cause the blow to start.
As soon as the shot is fired, the pressure of the recoil will push the barrel, the sleeve and the bolt - in the case of three parts being integral - towards the rear. But the sleeve having its helical groove 5c engaged in the end of the screw 5d fixed to the cylinder head box, will be obliged to turn on itself while moving backwards while the bolt will move back without turning. At a given moment, 9 the locking tenons 5b of the sleeve will be located opposite the longitudinal grooves 6a of the tâta of the lock and consequently will no longer hold the latter. The latter will continue on its own backwards in the known manner by compressing the recovery spring which will absorb part of the energy of the latch and towards the end of its travel the latch will abut against the stop piece after having compressed the spring. shock absorber.
The drawn cartridge case will be ejected in the ordinary manner and the latch will be pulled forward and push a new cartridge into the chamber in the known manner.
In its backward movement, the barrel was hooked by the lever-hook 10a in the breech box and is retained by it. This attachment of the barrel retains
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
the sleeve back so that the tenons of the latter are in front of the longitudinal grooves of the head of the lock when the latter presents itself in front of the sleeve to fit into it When the lock is fitted into the sleeve, the rod-tenon 7c of the slide 7a of the lock triggers the hooking lever which retains the barrel and the sleeve, the latter pushed on the one hand by its coil spring and,
on the other hand by the bolt, regains its original position forward, by driving the barrel and turning on itself to lock the breech. The rifle is loaded and cocked again ready to fire without unsupporting.
It should be noted that from the start of the recoil movement a small lever 16b pivoted on the frame of the weapon is pushed back downwards under the action of a ramp 16a belonging to the bolt, This lever pushes the end back. of the trigger body downwards by pivoting it around the axis 4d against the action of the small spring 4f. This swivel end acts as a shot separator and prevents "machine gun" fire from the rifle.
In front of the recovery spring is a piston 17 capable of being hooked by a lever 18 fixed in the stock, This lever is subjected to the action of a spring 18a and is actuated from the outside by a button 18b housed in an excavation of the butt without protruding on it and intended to make the lever take two positions that of hooking the piston and that; the non-hooking,
If you want to fire repeatedly, you cock the rifle as for automatic firing by pulling the pommel backwards which causes the bolt and compresses the recovery spring, the operating button of the stop lever 18 being turned.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
in the desired position, the lever hooks the piston;
in this way, the recovery spring is maintained and there is no need to compress it for the following strokes.
Then, we bring the pommel forward, which causes the lock and introduces a cartridge in the chamber of the barrel; then the pommel is turned downwards so that the eccentric or cam end of the front of its axis causes the lever 13 to pivot and causes the end of the latter to enter the corresponding mortise of the barrel sleeve. It only remains to squeeze the decanter and repeat the maneuver.
The partial disassembly of the weapon is done as follows. the connecting pin 19 (fig. 1,5 and 9) is removed by turning it about a quarter of a turn.
With the tip of a bullet, the stopper 20 of the recovery cylinder is forced out of the hole in the butt plate in which it is engaged. Take hold of the damping cylinder and lift it parallel to itself; in this movement, the gripper 21 of the breech box rises out of the vertical slides 21a of said box. With the cover removed, the lock can be easily removed by pulling on the knob.
