<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Mechanism for gradual change of transmission ratio within given limits".
The invention relates to mechanisms for the progressive change of the transmission ratio within the given limits, in which the movement of the control shaft is transmitted to the controlled shaft by means of a pin which can be moved radially in gaidages. of the controlled shaft and aa means of an oa plasiears clutch mechanisms.
The object of the invention is formed by a particular construction of this mechanism, which differs from known mechanisms in particular by its constrmtion achieving an economy of space and parts.
The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the object of the invention, namely, in figure 1 in longitudinal section and in figure 2 in transverse coape salient A-A in figure 1.
At the free end of the control shaft 1 of the embodiment according to Figures 1 and 2 is disposed an

4 one in the cavity by spiral springs biased in pressure or in tension / which are housed in grooves provided in the periphery of the disc 3. In the front surface of the freely rotating disc 2 is cut a gaidage for the pin 5, the stone-shaped part of which is gaidated by means of an ecro thread along a threaded spindle 6. The spindle 6 is rotatably supported at its ends in bearings 7 and 8 qai are attached to disk 2.
At the end of the spindle rod 6 extended beyond the bearing 7 is wedged a toothed wheel 9, which meshes with a toothed wheel HERE of the same size by means of an intermediate wheel 11. The toothed wheel 10 is wedged on a shaft short 12, brought into a projection of disc 2, at the other end of which is fixed a conical roae 13 which meshes with conical roaes 14 and
15. The conical roaes 14 and 15 are mounted loose sar un assarées part 16 fixed to a bearing of the shaft 1 and are brought against toat axial displacement by a prison 17, the shoulder 18 of the part 16 and a ring 19.
In a longitudinal groove of the part 16 and in a longitudinal groove touching this groove in the bearing of the shaft 1 is guided a connecting rod 20 to which is fixed a braking tank 21 which. by displacement of the connecting rod 20, can be brought into meshing contact with the toothed roae 14 oa 15 and thus prevents one or the other wheel from rotating freely, but, in the middle position, allows the driving of both wheels by the bevel wheel 13 toarnant with the disk 2. The adjusting movement of the brake ring 21 is effected by a lever 22 or an analogous member.
To the bearing of the shaft 1 is added a cylindrical housing
23 in which are fixed axles oa several shafts 24, the other end of which is anchored in a disc 27 connected to the bearing 25 of the controlled shaft 26. On each of these shafts 24

is mounted, so as to oscillate poavoir, a lever 28 provided with a slot.) the moyea 29 of which is fixed to ane part 30 of an coupling 30, 31 of arbitrary construction which cannot be engaged qae in one direction. Sar the coupling part 31 is screwed a roae 32 which transmits the clutch movements of the coupling part 31 to toothed ane roae 33 wedged sar the controlled shaft.
To reduce the friction between the ankle 5 and the lever 28, it is possible to slide the ankle 5 of the coalising bags 34. The free end of the ankle 5 peat, for the expansion, be guided in a radial arm mounted foa on the ordered shaft. It is clear that by a progressive radial displacement of the pin 5 the magnitude of the travel of the lever 28 and therefore also the magnitude of the clutch movement of the gradually increasing coupling piece 31 and thus also the ratio of transmission can be changed without any shock.
The radial displacement of the pin 5 can be done in different ways and that is by hand, one of the bevel wheels 14,15 being braked by displacement of the braking ring 21, so that the conical ring 13 rolls on the ring eoniqae immobilized and turn spindle 6 in the other direction, where again automatically by load change.
For automatic adjustment of the pin when the load changes, the discs 2 and 3, coupled one to the other by coil springs 4, in particular, change their relative position. This change of position can hearth atilisé diane simple way poar the adjusting movement of the braking bagae 21 and therefore aassi for the adjusting movement of the pin 5 in the year or the other direction. The spindle 6 in this case aassi long qae the coil springs 4 qai couple the two discs 2 and 3 again reach their zero position.
In this embodiment the coil springs 4 are tensioned equally hard for a period of time.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
arbitrary but invariable load and their voltage then changes when the load varies.
We can also use the change of position of the coil springs 4, for a changing load, for the direct radial displacement of the pin 5, for example, by radial adjustment displacement of the spindle 6 in the guide of the disc. 2. In this case, each load then corresponds to a determined tension of the springs 4.
