<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Concrete foundations.
The present invention relates to a foundation tank advantageously applicable to foundation walls, quay walls, retaining walls, bridge piers, etc.
In all these systems where it is a question of making underground walls, it has until now been necessary to have recourse for the realization of these, to important earthworks requiring not only a considerable manpower but also a generally long time
In order to remedy this drawback, the invention provides for making a foundation or the like formed by the juxtaposition of concrete piles arranged in the ground and welded intimately together.
The method for the execution of such a wall consists; according to the invention to be produced simultaneously by compressing fresh concrete in the ground, several juxtaposed piles
According to the invention, a series of pipes arranged along the axis of the wall or the like to be produced is driven into the ground, the earth is then driven back perpendicular to the axis of the wall during the sinking of the pipe, then raised by steps several of the pipes in place and we start with fresh concrete
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
in each of the pipes below the. part raised after each lifting step.
The lateral compression of the earth during the sinking of the pipes ast according to the invention obtained by a perforating hammer beveled and guided with respect to the pipes so that the bevel is oriented along the axis of the wall to achieve .
In order to prevent the pipes from rotating with respect to each other, the invention provides for guiding them with respect to each other during the sinking. This guidance is produced by ribs rigidly joined to each of the pipes, for example by welding, riveting, etc.
In the case where the foundations are reinforced by means of longitudinal reinforcements, the invention further provides for placing horizontal brackets around them. These stirrups are put in place by raising the tamper ram after each layer of tamping and by placing a horizontal stirrup around the longitudinal reinforcements, the descent of the ram ram having the effect of placing these stirrups automatically in the middle. chosen right.
The appended drawings indicate by way of non-limiting example various embodiments of the invention. This extends to the various original features which include the arrangements shown.

FIG. 6 relates to the application of the invention to the formation of bridge piers. The foundation system according to the invention consists in driving into the earth a series of steel pipes such as 2 held in relation to each other. to the other by back guides such as 2a made by steel slides welded to the arc or riveted on these pipes. A single pipe is driven in at a time having its base provided with a perforating sheep 3. This perforating sheep is beveled so as not to compress the soil in the direction corresponding to the axis of the wall to be formed.
In order to prevent the rotation of the ram perforated Them during the sinking, it is guided by ribs such as 2b arranged internally in the lower pipe 2k and engaging -dais suitable grooves such as 2d made by the perforator sheep.
Since the pipes cannot turn with respect to each other as a result of the guide rails 2a, it is easy to realize that in this way the bevel can easily be maintained, along the axis of the wall at form.
As shown in fig. 3, the pipes are normally provided with a slide 2a provided with grooves such as 2d in which are engaged ribs such as 2f belonging to a bracket 2m fixed to these pipes.
The pipes intended to constitute the angles of the. wall can be fitted with four brackets such as 2m arranged at right angles. The lower pipe receiving the sheep

perforator can be guided with respect to the immediately upper pipe in which it is engaged, in a manner analogous to the guiding of the perforator ram in this lower pipe.
The hammer drill, driven in by successive blows given, for example, by a steam hammer, sinks into the ground, bringing with it the pipe which serves as a guide. This pipe is provided at its lower part with a. bead retracted 2f on which the perforator leans. As soon as the pipe is inserted per example at 2 or 3 meters deep, a second is added to it and so on depending on the depth of the depression to be made. When a series of neighboring pipes is beaten to the desired depth, one of the pipes is lifted by a determined height, for example one meter, and concrete is poured into it, which is strongly pounded by means of the pestle = 4 shown at fig. 5.
This tamper ram is provided with holes such as 4a for the passage of longitudinal reinforcements such as 5 (see fig.l).
When the concrete poured in the first pipe is pounded, the second pipe is lifted and the same tamping operation is repeated.
The rammed concrete meeting on the one hand the neighboring pipe and on the other hand the concrete of the previously lifted pipe, it follows that the concrete is compressed in the side walls formed by the ground already compressed by the perforating ram.
The concrete being prevented from entering the ground indefinitely and stopped by the joining pipe, is compressed against the concrete placed by the previous tube from which is thus carried out an intimate welding of the two concretes.
Continuing, gradually lifting the pipes
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
and the tamping of the concrete, we manage to make a wall forming a real monolith
In the case where use is made of reinforcing irons such as 6, arranged horizontally, these brackets are put in place in the following way:
after pounding a layer of concrete corresponding to the distance between two of these stirrups, the tamper pestle is raised and a stirrup is placed below it and around the longitudinal reinforcements, which will descend to the layer of rammed concrete during the descent of the tamper ram In this way these brackets are automatically put in place
The foundation system according to the invention eliminates formwork and excavations and makes it possible to make completely watertight foundations without being subject to any kind of sliding,
It is also possible according to the invention to come and connect to an already existing wall, other side walls for example in the case where it is a question of making buttresses.
It is also possible to make bottomless underground caissons for the construction of bridge piers (see fig. 6). When the walls made by driving pipes have reached the same height and flowing towards the bottom of the river, they are covered with a reinforced concrete slab or with a vault on which the construction can be erected. The interior of the caissons can even be filled with tamped sand on which to build.
