<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
La figure 1 montre le schéma d'unmécanisme hydraulique de conception connue; la figure 2 montre le schéma du mécanisme conforme à l'in- vention; la figura 3 est une coupe longitudinale du mécanisme à hau- te pression conforme à l'invention; la figure 4 montre un détail du mécanisme, à échelle plus grande; la figure 5 montre la commando de l'arbre de distribution, partie en coupe, partie en vue en plan; la figure 6, partie gauche, est une coupe pratiquée suivant la ligne a-b de la figure 3 et, partie droite, une coupe prati- quée suivant la ligne c-d de la figure 3; la figure 7 est une coupe horizontale pratiquée suivant la ligne e-f de la figure 6 ; les figures 8 et 9 montrent shcématiquement diverses varian- tes de distributions;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
Ceci a pour but d'éviter les
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>

"Hydraulic mechanism".
The invention relates to a hydraulic mechanism which can function as a pump and also as a hydraulic motor. The mechanism differs from devices of the same type, known, by its simplicity, by its favorable efficiency and particularly by the fact that it can be regulated between wide limits. Then, due to its design, it can be used as a hydraulic transmission with adjustable ratio; for this purpose, two devices are used in accordance with the invention which are coupled and one of which then functions as a pump and the other as a motor.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In this case, the group is adjustable both on the pump side and on the motor side.
The device works with pistons moving in a reciprocating motion and with a distributor register or spool which places the suction channel and the discharge channel alternately in communication with the pump compartment. - pa. According to the invention, the register which regulates the arrival and departure of the liquid is arranged in a channel placed transversely to the longitudinal axis of the pump piston. The central part of this channel is in communication with the piston compartment; in one of the side sections of the register opens the suction channel and in the other side section opens the delivery channel.
Other features of the invention will be explained with the aid of the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 shows the diagram of a hydraulic mechanism of known design; FIG. 2 shows the diagram of the mechanism according to the invention; Figure 3 is a longitudinal section of the high pressure mechanism according to the invention; FIG. 4 shows a detail of the mechanism, on a larger scale; FIG. 5 shows the control of the distribution shaft, part in section, part in plan view; Figure 6, left part, is a section taken along line a-b of Figure 3 and, right side, a section taken along line c-d of Figure 3; Figure 7 is a horizontal section taken along the line e-f of Figure 6; Figures 8 and 9 schematically show various variations of distributions;
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Figure 10 shows in section the automatic pressure adjustment device; FIG. 11 schematically shows the operation of the dispensing device.
In the known device represented by FIG. 1, the piston pump is regulated by the rotary journal 1. This journal 1 rotates at the same speed as the crank 2 which controls the piston 6. With the delivery compartment 5 passages 3 and 4 provided in the journal 1 alternately enter into communication. During the suction stroke, the compartment 5 is placed in communication with the suction channel through the passage 3, while during the suction stroke. delivery stroke, it is in communication with the delivery channel via passage 4.
In contrast to this known arrangement, the device according to the invention is governed by a piston register driven by a reciprocating and balanced movement. This distribution device is shown schematically in Figure 2 and consists of piston registers 101 and 10? / Which are connected by flange 10 to form a single piece. The registers 101 and 102 move alternately in a passage placed transversely to the longitudinal axis of the piston 6 'and the central part of which is in communication with the compartment 5'. To the left of this central part is the piston 101 which governs the suction channel 3 'and to the right is the piston 102 which
EMI3.1
xxxzxxx.axxxx @ governs the delivery channel 4 '.
In the figure, the register 101,102,10 is in the central position and the piston 6 controlled by the crank 2 'is in its upper neutral position. The movements of the register are accomplished to the right and to the left of the median line or xx axis In the position shown, the register 101 closes the suction channel 3 'and the register 102 closes the discharge channel 4' .
The com-
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
manda of register 101,102,10 which is not represented and which will be described later operates in such a way that when the piston 6 'is lowered, the register 101,102.10 moves first to the left, that consequently the register 101. opens the suction channel 3 ', then .. going to the right the ref3rme and that the distribution is in the central position shown when the piston 6' reaches its lower neutral point. Ending this time therefore, the piston compartment 5 'is in communication with the suction channel 3'.
During the next half-turn of the crank 2 ', that is to say during the return stroke, communication is established in a similar fashion between the compartment 5' and the discharge channel 4 '. as a result of rightward movement of piston 102.
The registra or drawer according to figure 2 is much simpler than the register of figure 1, given that the registers 101,102,10 accomplish a much shorter path than the periphery of the journal 1. The journal 1 must, then, have a large diameter, so that passages 3 and 4 can be accommodated therein, so that the peripheral speed of the journal is also considerable.
The practical realization of an apparatus conforming to the principle explained is represented by FIGS. 3 to 11. The arbra II of the apparatus controls three identical pumps A, B, C but offset one on top of the other (fig. 6). One of these pumps is shown in section in FIG. 3. The crankshaft II controls, through the intermediary of the connecting rod 13 and the butt journal 14, the butt 15. The butt 15 is in relation by the 'intermediate of the support in the form of a spherical cap 16, removable in the lateral direction, with the piston. The tensile forces are transmitted by the dovetail guide 17. The distribution is effected, in the manner previously described by the distribution register 101,10,11, 12.
In this case the register is designed so as to be able to work with imperative masking. This is to avoid
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
losses of liquids under pressure, losses which always occur as a result of overflow in the suction channel, in the variant according to figure 2; then to avoid dangerous water hammers in the pump compartment, which occur in the arrangement according to figure 2 when the central position of the damper is not reached at the same time as the neutral points of the damper. piston 6 '. To avoid these drawbacks, the register arrangement is proposed in accordance with FIG. 3, which by its covering ensures good etanoheity and which can be reversed in any position whatsoever.
It is thus possible to adjust the quantity of liquid delivered by the pump. To this end, there is provided, in accordance with the invention, on the narrowed shaft 10 'of the register 12, a piston forming a seal 11, which FIG. 4 shows on a larger scale. The spring 21 constantly pushes the piston 11 on the shoulder 103 of the assembly part 10.
The other end of the spring 21 rests on the register 12 which is fixed on the barrel 10 ', closes the delivery channel 4' and the outer face of which is engaged by the cam 20. The piston 11 carries a cylindrical bead 22 which surrounds the shoulder 103. The bead 22 and piston 20 group on the one hand and shoulder 103 and shank 10 'on the other together form a liquid cataract which absorbs shocks.
The timing shaft 19 which carries the cam 20 is in FIG. 5, actuated by means of the gears 24,25. The toothed wheel 25 turns idle on the fixed shaft 26 and is actuated by the chain wheel 28 clamped on the main shaft 11, and the chain 27. The timing shaft 19 is carried in arms 29 which can pivot, in the direction of the arrow 30, around the irremovable shaft 26.
The three pumps A, B, C are connected in parallel. To this end, the discharge compartments 4 'of the various pumps are in respective communication via the common passage IV of FIG. 7. To dampen as much as possible the pulsation of the liquid.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
discharge, there is in line IV a reservoir 74 filled with liquid of adequate size. This reservoir acts as a capacity and compensates for the pressure oscillations of the IV line by its elastic variations in capacity. Likewise, the suction compartments 3 ′ of the three pumps A, B, C also communicate with each other, through 1 T intermediary of channel III for example.
When the mechanism rotates rapidly, and a liquid entrainment is therefore to be feared, there can also be provided in this pipe a reservoir 75, as described above, into which a pump can send the liquid if necessary. The suction compartments of the A.B.C pump can communicate with the interior of the liquid reservoir 32 by passages of very short length 54 (FIG. 3). In this case, the reservoir 32 is suitably designed as a pump casing.
As shown in Figures 3 and 7, the cylinder bores of the pumps, the passages for the distribution pistons and the passages which put the suction or discharge compartments of the various pumps in communication with each other. others are parallel or even arranged in groups perpendicular to each other. This therefore makes it possible, without the slightest difficulty, to form all these passages in a single forged block. The massive shape of this one-piece block makes this type of construction particularly suitable for high pressure hydraulic machines.
The device described operates as follows:
When the shaft II turns (figs. 2,3 and 6) the cranks offset one on the other by 1200 move the pistons 61, while the distribution shaft 19 controlled by the chain 27 and the wheels toothed 25 and 24 or the eccentric 20 located on the shaft in question move in synchronism with the pistons 61, the spools 101,10,11,12. The relative position of the pistons 61 and the corresponding registers 10 is such that when the pistons
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
are in neutral position, the registers are in a central position so that the registers perform an oscillating movement around this central position (b, in fig. 3).
As a result, the pump sucks during the entire suction stroke and delivers during the discharge stroke.
The quantity of liquid delivered by the pump can be adjusted by moving the body of registers 101, 10, il, 12 out of the central position so that the center line of oscillation xx (axis of oscillation) of the ccrps of the Regester comes to the left of the center line b (axis) of the pump. In this case, the compartment 5 'remains in communication with the suction channel 3' for a longer time than the time corresponding to a full stroke of the piston 61. Likewise, the time during which the compartment 51 is in communication with the delivery channel 4 'decreases accordingly; in this way, the pump delivers less liquid in this channel than when the register is in a symmetrical central position.
The discharge into compartment 4 'does not begin until register 101,10,11,12 is pushed sufficiently to the right so that register 102 closes channel 3'. Consequently, when the damper is moved to the left by a value equal to half a damper stroke, the pump no longer delivers since the suction compartment 3 'is not closed and the discharge compartment 4 'is not open.
This mode of distribution is explained with the aid of the device shown in FIG. 4. In fact, during the periods of the delivery stroke in which the register 102 has already cut off the communication of the compartment 3 with the compartment 5 ', the liquid which is under pressure in the compartment 5 'pushes the closing slide 11 against the antagonistic action of the spring 21 until it opens the delivery channel 4'.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
In this way it cannot Sa produce harmful pressure in the compartment 5 '. It is the device shown in FIGS. 3 and 10 which is used for this adjustment. The register body 101,10,11,12 is moved out of the symmetrical central position by the displacement of the shaft 19; for this purpose, the shaft 19 is. housed on the rocking shaft 26, in the manner already described. To ensure distribution, the crank-like housing 29 has been moved to the left in the direction of arrow 30. The attack of the toothed wheels 24 and 25 does not change.
For distribution, the shaft 19 can be controlled either by hand or automatically, depending on the pressure of the liquid delivered. FIG. 10 shows the device which allows this automatic distribution. Thanks to this, it is possible for the pump to maintain a constant pressure even when the quantity of pumped liquid varies; on the other hand, there is no need to use a safety valve. The basic member of the automatic adjustment device is a differential piston 34 located in the plane g - h of the wrought iron block of the pump, in the passage 33. The cylinder compartment 35 of the differential piston is in communication with the delivery compartment of the pump 4 'through passages 36, 361 and 362.
The canal
37 361 is closed by a ball valve '- The piston body 34 protrudes through the passage 33 at both ends. On the left end of the piston 34 is placed one of the doorbell lever arm 38, the other arm of which is articulated with the spindle 421. On the spindle 421 can turn through the intervention of the flywheel 40 and of the coupling 41, the nut 42 which comes to rest on the spring 391. The spring rests on the console 39 of the casing. It is thus possible to give the spring 391 different tensions.
The right end of the differential piston 34 is in relation by the articulation 431 and the bearing 43 with the timing shaft.

When an exaggerated pressure is created in the delivery compartment 4 'of the pump, this is transmitted through the passages 362 361 and 36 in the cylinder compartment 35 and pushes back the piston 34, against the antagonistic action. spring 39, to the left. The seeding shaft is then also moved to the left by means of the assembly 43,431 which also moves to the left the center line or x-x axis of oscillation of the distributor spool. When the pressure drops in compartment 4 ', the spring 391 returns the differential piston to the limit position shown in figure 10.
So that these movements of the differential piston do not take place at exaggerated speeds and so that no harmful shocks occur, the channel which serves to let the liquid pass is provided with a reduction. The member used for this purpose is the ball valve 37, with imperfect closure which, when the piston 34 is returned, only lets the liquid flow back slowly.
FIG. 8 is a diagram of the distribution which has just been described. When the piston body 101,10,11,12 is pushed to the left out of the symmetrical middle position, the compartment 5 'is in communication with the compartment 4', only during the time taken by the crank 2 'to exit position m and go, in the direction of the arrow, to position n. During this time, the piston 61 has traveled a path h '.
In all the other positions of the crank, the compartment 5 'is in communication with the suction compartment 3'. The spool reversal points m and n are arranged symmetrically with respect to the central position of piston 61; when the discharge period is shortened still further, they approach more and more the point at which there is no longer any communication between 5 * / and 4 ', therefore of the point at which the pump no longer delivers liquid. The switching (points m and n) takes place, however, at increasingly high piston speeds and the acceleration of piston 61 is all the greater as the speed is
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
larger at the time of switching.
To avoid the nuisance of this situation, the di, iiensions of the piston 5 'can be increased, in accordance with FIG. 11, by the value of the compartment 52 which increases the mass of elastic liquid between the piston 61 and the register body or drawer. 11.
The register 101,10,11,12, however, can also be controlled so that the angle of advance of the spool, that is to say the position of the spool shown in figure 11 always remains invariable. even when the pump load varies. For this purpose, use will be made of the dispensing device shown in fig.ll.
The piston 61 is controlled by the shaft II. The toothed wheel 45 wedged on the shaft II meshes the toothed wheel 46 and rotates the shaft 54 with the ratio 1 to 2. The arm 191 can pivot on the shaft 54. In this arm can turn the shaft 19 '. which forms the axis of the toothed wheel 48. The toothed wheel 48 meshes the internal toothing of the toothed wheel 460 which gives a 2 to 1 ratio; it follows that the speeds of the wheels 48 and 45 are equal. The toothed wheel 460 is wedged with the toothed wheel 46 on a common shaft 54. The crank button 51 which is wedged together with the toothed wheel 48 on the common shaft 19 and whose radius is equal to the radius of the sector of the toothed wheel 48 moves the register 101,10,11,12 by means of the bent lever 49 and of the coupling rod 55.
If the shaft 19 ', which in this case is the distributor shaft, is moved with the arm 191 in the direction of the arrow 47, the wheel 48 rolls on the internal teeth of the toothed wheel 460; as a result of the ratio of diameters 1 to 2, the button moves 51 / according to the diameter 0-0 'of the big wheel. If the connecting rod 50 is long enough, the drawer 101,10,11,12 will move in practically negligible proportions during the advance of the button 51; the change in direction of spool movement will therefore match the neutral position of the pump piston.
However, during movement of the journal 19 ', the center of oscillation of the spool will move proportionally towards the
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
left without the register advance varying.
Figure 9 shows the diagram applicable to the pump operating speed. The distribution in accordance with FIG. 11 is done so that the reversal of the direction of travel in the event of constant advance occurs each time the crank reaches a position of 180; the second reversal occurs at point M, the position of which coincides with the various pump speeds and which is between 0 and 180. The reference h designates the delivery stroke and the arrow which is the circle, the direction of rotation.
If the device is used as a hydro-motor, it is expediently distributed as indicated on the right side of figure 8. The distribution is adjusted so that the spool reverses constantly at neutral point 2 'and the second reversal between 2' and 180, in correspondence with the position of the distribution at this moment, and in the example chosen, at point M. The engine thus receives pressurized liquid on the path h and produces work accordingly. The arrow on the circle indicates the direction of rotation.
Finally, in accordance with the invention, it is possible to combine two devices in a single group, which collaborate, one acting as a pump and the other as a motor. As it follows from the foregoing, a group of the species forms an adjustable hydraulic mechanism which can be distributed both on the pump side and on the motor side.
