<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
toutes les surfaces placées autour des cylindres 1 ou 2 et fortement chargées de matières sont garnies de plateaux fixes ou animées perforées et 10 cylindre 2 est lui-même encore utilisé pour enlever, transporter ou véhiculer les matières désagrégées;
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
2) les plateaux fixes ou mobilee, perforés amonagées au dessus du cylindre ne sont pas exposés au danger d'être bouchas et qu' ainsi le rendement de ces machines ou installations reste inva- riable, même si le plateau perforé inférieur incliné ou incurvé venait se boucher un peu;
3) les plateaux susmentionnés ainsi que les autres artifices dé- crits favorisent une forte déshydratation ultérieure supplémentaire des matières, assurant ainsi une consistance bien supérieure et presque constante des matières évacuées; 4) les matières projetées à travers la plaque inférieure perforée susmentionnée ou la traversant par voie de rinçage sont amenées directement par l'entremise de canivaux de circulation et d'arti- fices de propulsion et de projection, ainsi que par le chemin le plus court ou plus ou moins long au travail du cylindre, ce qui augmente le rendement de oes moulins désagrégours, surtout lors- qu'il s'agit de matériaux difficile désagréger, à dissoudre ou à diviser;
6) les rateaux à fonctionnement continu ou périodique et nettoyage automatique enlèvent aux matières toutes les impuretés surnageant ou flottant; 6) l'artifice favorisant et activant la vitesse d'écoulement ou d'avancement des matières dans lesdites installations, augmente ainsi leur rendement; 7) l'élévateur d'impuretés à fonctionnement continu ou les fosses collectrices à travail périodique débarrassent la machine, faisant l'objet de la présente invention, de toutes les impuretés et corps spécifiquement plus lourds; 8) le cylindre est muni de palettes dentées placées en long en en large ou entrecroisées, ce qui active la désagrégation rapide des matières;
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

Mill to break up old paper? waste paper and semi-finished products from the paper industry
The used mills known under the name "Dutch" intended for dissolving and disintegrating waste paper, waste paper and semi-finished products of the paper industry have only either a fixed perforated floor or a fixed vault and perforated inclined. Also used are disintegration mills provided with rotating, perforated drums placed vertically or horizontally in the flow of materials.
In all these machines there is only a small part of the surface surrounding the fraying, conveyor and projecting cylinder, fed in a specially superabundant way of material by this cylinder, which is opened with perforated trays while the, upper vault fed the most material) is completely neglected in this respect.
Material sprayed or rinsed through the small area perforated bottom plate or through the small inclined perforated arch is discharged to a consistency degree of 2 or at most 5%, so that the water
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
excess must be removed from the material by means of a special dewatering plant,
in the event that the materials have to undergo further disintegration (grinding) to a degree of consistency of 7 - 10%,
During careless handling, it can happen that in Known disintegrating mills all of the water in the maohine can escape through the lower perforated plate, leaving the material there to be disintegrated so that it is impossible to obtain in these disintegrating ("Dutch") mills a uniform consistency of the material discharged as the treatment progresses.
The fraying cylinders, conveyors and projectors of known mills are equipped only with simple, smooth steel knives which do not break up the introduced materials, formed into large pieces, only very slowly since they are not provided with longitudinal and transverse teeth. Foreign bodies (ropes, wires, metal bands, etc.) introduced during the loading of the maphine with the non-matched waste papers arrive at the cylinder and the perforated lower plate and wind up on the unprotected shaft of the cylinder. , thus putting the shaft jam and the side wall of the mill in danger of breaking; these bodies are also introduced into the holes of said surface, thus greatly reducing its efficiency.
None of these known disintegrating mills has lower surfaces and perforated upper vaults which promote dehydration of the material thrown through these surfaces, and highly diluted in water, nor do any of these machines offer the possibility of bringing again directly to the fraying cylinder, conveying and spraying the past material eg. by rinsing or projecting through a lower plate with coarse lights, and co on a longer or shorter path as well as separated from other materials
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
and by curries,
- to diverted p in order to thereby achieve faster dissolution of all difficult-to-dissolve materials ,,
Neither of these known disintegrating mills includes self-cleaning rakes, continuous or periodic operation animated with a movement from top to bottom and vice versa or with a rotational movement, no longer used until this heavy. periodically folding rakes or performing a vertical movement from top to bottom and vice versa,
which must be cleaned by hand
The known machines also do not include a device that activates the flow of materials as well as the work of the unraveling conveyor cylinder, nor do they have special mechanisms for the continuous mechanical removal of the specifically heavier impurities accumulating in the tank. lowest part of the bottom of the machine
These mills also do not include the accessories for intensifying the work of the aforementioned fraying cylinder by the arrangement of pulsating bucket chambers and bucket wheel for the removal of dissolved materials from the interior of the cylinder.
Following the principle of the invention and of the devices which form part of it, all these defects and imperfections are removed.
According to Figures A, B, C and D, the new so-called "Dutch" disintegration mill comprises a cylinder 1 provided with pallets 11 (Fig. I, II and III) fitted with teeth placed at an angle, transversely and in the direction. longitudinal or other, and the axis 12 of which is lined with a gland 15, a fixed protective sleeve 14 and a membrane 15 (Fig. IV).
The fixed protective casing 14 pockets the wires, strings etc. to wind up on the shaft 12 and the membrane 15 allows
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
to cylinder 1 to rise instantly, we. hopping, when forced to project momentarily upward ot lolong of the curved perforated lower plank 3 large agglomerates of material *
The lower perforated curved plank 3 is fixed to a frame 17, fixed or animated by shaking, provided with an evacuation channel 16 which opens into the collecting boot a in which the materials are temporarily retained.
The perforated horizontal arch 4 and its superimposed scraper device 18 are permanently fixed in the box 19.
The horizontal position of the perforated upper vault 4 and the path that the strongly diluted material projected through the board 4 must take before reaching the collector box has led to a strong dehydration of the materials which, thanks to the mechanism scraper 18, achieve a degree of consistency of 10%,
The upper plate 5, perforated and inclined) forming part of the vault $ is arranged in a fixed or mobile material collecting boot 21 (animated by jerking movements) provided with an outlet channel 20.
Above the flat or semi-cylindrical and possibly finely perforated floor of the box 21, it is possible to arrange a scraper mechanism or an endless screw which conveys the highly diluted materials projected through the board 5 to the container a, while leaving the water will drain off during this course through the holes in the finely drilled floor of the container 21.
In the side channel 10 of the disintegration mill is arranged a continuously rotating rake 22 (fig. VIII and IX) coupled with an automatic auxiliary rake 22a, which removes the material from it, as well as a paddle wheel etc. 23 which activates the advance of the thick introduced materials flowing slowly.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
Specifically heavier impurities accumulate on the bottom of the pit 26 and are continuously removed through a bucket elevator 27 etc.
According to fig. E, we have above cylinder 1 or 2 an endless belt pierced with wide openings or a transport chain 28 lined with perforated plates.
In figures F, G and H, we place the board at. large openings 3 upstream of a circulation channel 16, whether or not containing an endless screw 30, in order to bring back the divided and pre-wet material by the shortest path to the cylinders 1 or 2. Above these are placed, parallel or transversely to the axes of the cylinders, perforated drums 31 or 32, in the interior space 33 of which operates a roller compressor.
The material projected by the cylinders 1 or 2 into the interior of the drums is strongly dehydrated during its journey to the collecting vessel a; this result is further promoted by the steamroller 34p so that the materials arrive at the container a at a degree of consistency of about 12%.
In figures J, K and L the material composed of large pieces, projected or passed by rinsing through the large lumen plate 3, if we go through channel 16 in the circulation channel 7 where the part 35 operates. cylinder 1 or a special projection device which projects large-caliber material directly or by the shortest path to the cylinder at the
According to Figures M and N is placed behind the cylinders 1 or 2 a rotary drum with suction cells 37 accompanied by an endless belt with large perforations 36,
and which is only subjected to the action of the vacuum insofar as this concerns the part to which the materials thrown or brought by way arrive.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
rinsing; this drum sucks up the disintegrated, divided materials out of the mill; it is fitted with a blower device which detaches large-caliber adhering materials.
The perforated endless belt 36 coming from the drum 37 is constantly cleaned by brushes to which the water comes under pressure.
Above the cylinders 1 and 2 also rotates a perforated horizontal plate 38 on which the materials, passed by projection, are strongly dehydrated under the action of pressure rollers 39,40 so that the mechanism for removing the materials 41, comprising a scraper and a fine worm screw scrapes the materials to a degree of consistency of 12% on the turntable 38 to then transport them to the collector a. b According to figures O, P, Q and R, one places above the selector cylinder 2 (fig.
V and VI) provided with scoop buckets 42, the lifting wheel 43 and the movable stuffing box 44, a perforated plate 45 animated by jolts $ which abandons the materials * having crossed it by projection, strongly dehydrated with the propeller without end c which removes more water from them because of the perforated bottom of the tank which contains the said screw and finally rejects them at a degree of consistency of 12% to the collecting tank a.
The materials projected through the plate 3 or passing through it with the rinsing water, arrive at the circulation channel 8, in which the continuously rotating rake 22, 22a and the lifting wheel 46 are arranged.
In order to help the work of the selector wheel 2, two or more wheels are further introduced into the channel 8, upstream of the lifting wheel 46. pallets 49 and 50, which project the material totally broken up and free of any floating or specifically heavier body against the upper trays 47,48 forming the arch; from where the materials fall into the gutter d which transports them to the collecting tank a.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
In figures S, T, U, V and W, an endless belt with large perforations 36 is placed downstream of cylinder 1 or 2.
The materials projected or passing with the rinsing water through this screen 36 arrive through the oanal 16 to the tank a.
The driven arm of this band is constantly cleaned by means of brushes with water under pressure.
The scraper mechanism 18, which removes the material from the upper perforated sheet of the arch 4 passes over a suction chamber 55, or else the material passes through a press 56 in order to fall into the tank a to a degree of consistency of 12-14%.
The material discharged through the elevator wheel 46 through the upper perforated plate 3 falls into the circulation channel 9 where the continuously rotating rake 22,22a works, while upstream of the cylinder 1 or 2 is arranged. the rake 29 moving up and down (and vice versa) with periodic action (fig. VII), this rake tilting into its highest position, due to the upper bend of the guide rail on which it slides? and thus cleans itself automatically.
In order to constantly remove the specifically heavier impurities, a pit 57 is arranged outside the channel 10 into which 6 to 8 tubs 68 with perforated walls are immersed, hanging them from a cable, etc., which are removed daily, following the opening. requirements, the upper bin filled by means of any lifting device
Thanks to the disintegration mills (so-called "Dutch") described above and shown in the drawings, pon eliminates all the defects and drawbacks of the known installations, used to date, for the following reasons! because 1)
all surfaces placed around cylinders 1 or 2 and heavily loaded with material are lined with fixed or animated perforated trays and cylinder 2 itself is still used for removing, transporting or conveying the disintegrated material;
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
2) the fixed or mobile, perforated plates stacked above the cylinder are not exposed to the danger of being blocked and thus the performance of these machines or installations remains invariable, even if the lower inclined or curved perforated plate came get clogged up a bit;
3) the aforementioned trays as well as the other devices described promote a strong additional subsequent dehydration of the materials, thus ensuring a much higher and almost constant consistency of the discharged materials; 4) The material projected through the aforementioned perforated lower plate or passing through it by means of rinsing is brought directly through the circulation channels and propulsion and projection devices, as well as by the shortest route or more or less long to work the cylinder, which increases the efficiency of these disintegrating mills, especially when it comes to materials difficult to disintegrate, to dissolve or to divide;
6) rakes with continuous or periodic operation and automatic cleaning remove all supernatant or floating impurities from the materials; 6) the device promoting and activating the flow rate or advancement of the materials in said installations, thus increasing their efficiency; 7) the continuously operating impurity elevator or the periodically working collecting pits free the machine, object of the present invention, of all impurities and specifically heavier bodies; 8) the cylinder is fitted with toothed vanes placed sideways or crisscrossed, which activates the rapid disintegration of materials;
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
9) The new cable gland prevents iron wires, twines etc. to wrap around the shaft, thus avoiding a breakage of the packing etc.
The mills thus equipped and built according to the new principles require, depending on the output required, a maximum of two workers per load in order to be able to introduce the materials and to possibly activate the rakes, and provide, by virtue of their almost automatic operation, a quantity of materials and a consistency that has not yet been achieved.
The embodiments, given by way of example, can naturally undergo many transformations and groupings of details, for example p.expl. the inclined perforated vault, shown in @ fig. B, can be replaced by a rotating drum 31, 32 with perforated walls.
In addition, the side channel 10, shown in this figure can still receive paddle wheels 49,50.
