<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Tool for cutting hair",
So that after the cut, the hair can be arranged exactly, we taper the hair, that is to say we take care to cut all the hair of a lock to different lengths.
Unraveling has hitherto been carried out with the aid of diseaux, owing to the fact that these birds perform forward and backward movements on the hair held in one hand by the point, and that individual hairs of the lock. The hair thus receives different languor.
The proper execution of this work requires experience of several years, but the present invention aims to facilitate
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
this work and to establish a simple instrument or tool, economical and easy to use, so that even less exercised people can carry out this thinning of the hair and can proceed accordingly to a complete haircut.
According to the present invention, a blade, for example an ordinary razor blade, an automatic razor blade, etc., is placed on a comb on a comb, so that the cutting or cutting edge of the blade partially penetrates into the teeth of this comb. By passing such a comb through the hair, the blade cuts hair, so that the cut hair has different strands.
The tool is preferably constructed so that the cutting edge of the blade is adjustable with respect to the tips of the teeth of the comb, and can optionally be stopped. By stopping or fixing the cutting edge at a greater or lesser distance from the tips of the teeth, the cutting effect is modified. The blade can also be completely removed from the teeth, in order to be able to use the comb as a comb proper, that is to say not for the cut, but to arrange the hair. The device for adjusting the blade can also be arranged so that the cutting edge of this blade protrudes from the tips of the teeth of the comb. In this position of the blade, its edge can be easily sharpened, by ironing on a sharpening body, on leather, etc.
The accompanying drawings show, by way of example, embodiments of the invention.
The tool of figures 1 and 2 comprises a double comb 1, made of metal, horn, of suitable artificial mass, such as celluloid, etc., with handle?, In which a razor blade 4 is mounted so as to be able to turn and be adjustable. The double comb 2 has teeth 5, the teeth 6 are interconnected by their points, and the blade 4 rests between the two side parts 7,8. A stop 9 provided on the handle 2 ensures one of the extreme positions of the blade 4. Instead of a fixed stop, an adjustment screw can also be provided, which allows the position to be changed.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
extreme of the blade. The blade '4 is guided by a pin 10 in a groove 11 of the handle 2.
If the blade 4 is placed in the teeth of the double comb and the tool is passed through the hair to be cut, the hair is automatically cut to an unequal length. By removing the blade 4 of the teeth of the comb 1, 2, this comb can be used to arrange or comb the hair, the procedure is preferably as follows:
The hair is first arranged with the comb; we fix the parting, then the hairdresser grasps the lock of hair with the left hand by the ends of the hair: The shorter hair is combed back with the comb and by a pressure of the finger of the blade 4 is set in the position according to figure 2.
The longer hair held in the left hand is then tapered, that is to say cut to an unequal length by means of the blade 4.The lock of hair thus cut is then applied to the head from the inside to the the outside evenly forming a point.
Instead of a double comb, it is also possible to provide two combs 71,89, arranged side by side (FIG. 17). On the other hand the toothing can also be oblique to the handle @ The blade instead of turning on the rivet 10 could also be movable parallel to itself in the comb
Figures 3 to 14 show other embodiments of the tool in which flat blades are used, for example safety razor blades.
The front end, in the form of the head of a handle 15 (figures 3 to 5) is provided with teeth on both longitudinal sides, the teeth possibly being as fine or of different fineness on the two sides. a sheet-shaped steel blade 16, similar to the blades of safety razors, is applied to the toothed head piece, and on this blade is a protective plate 17, which is also provided with toothing on both sides. The teeth of the parts 15 and 17 match each other; parts 15 and 17 together form a
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
comb, to fix parts 16 and 17 to the handle 15, screws 18 are used, which pass through slots 19 in the cover plate 17 and pass through holes 20 in the blade.
In Figure 3 the blade is placed in the opposite position, but as shown in Figure 4 it can also be moved to one side, so that the cutting edge exceeds the tips of the teeth of the comb 15. The slots 19 of the part 17 allow to move this part 17 backwards at will on the lower part 15 or beyond this part, in order to be able to cut the shortest hair without hurting yourself. The parts 15,17 may be flat as shown in Figure 5, but may also be curved, as shown in Figure 6, so that the blade 16 is bent and is subjected to some tension.
The protective plate 17 can also be wider than the head part 15 and wider than the blade 16 so that, as shown in figure 6, the cutting edge is behind the tips of the teeth of part 17 and in front of the tips of the teeth of part 15.
As shown in Figures 7 and 8, the comb can also be provided on one side with a toothing 22 serving only to arrange the hair, but not to cut them, while it is provided on the back of the handle 21 a blade 16 which can be adjusted and can be fixed by means of the. screw 18.
As shown in Figures 9 and la, the blade 16 can also be connected to the handle 25 by means of a resilient clamping piece 26 and a stirrup 27, which stirrup engages at its ends at. form buttons 28 between the branches of the elastic clamping piece 26 and thus press the protective plate 29 on the blade 16 and this blade on the head piece 25 of the handle * By exerting a strong pressure on the stirrup 27 it is possible to disengage from the position shown and we can thus remove the blade 16 of the comb 15, The bracket 27 can also be provided at its ends with threads to screw nuts which strongly press the plate 29 on the comb 25.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The blade 16 may have the form shown in Figures 11 to 14. The blade 16 is provided with protrusions 40, notches 41 and slots 43 of different shapes, in order to be able to grip it easily with the finger and to be able to adjust it to the desired position on the handle.
The blade 16 of Figure 14 has cutting edges which form an angle between them; this blade makes it easy to cut hair along the hairline on the head
In the embodiment of Figures 15 and 16 there is provided on the handle 30 a head with a tooth of different fineness on the sides or edges opposite. The blade 32 is provided on the opposite small sides with a toothing 33. The blade 32 is joined by a plate 34. Soft bushings 31 toothed on their periphery are mounted and rotate in the parts 30,34.
The bushes 31 engage in the teeth 33 of the blade, and by rotating these bushes you can adjust the blade at will. In order to fix the wool 32 in the desired working position, clamping plates 44 are used, which, tightened by means of screws 35, tighten the parts 30, 32, 34.
In the embodiment of Figures 18 and 19, two combs 45 and 46 having the same teeth, are connected to each other by means of rivets 48 so as to be able to rotate. The combs 45, 46 can rotate independently of one another. The combs are held in the position shown by means of a dowel 49 disposed on the comb 45. The razor 47 is mounted between the combs 45,46 so as to be able to rotate freely. In this embodiment of the tool, the razor can also be used with a single comb, or in the manner described with reference to FIG. 1.
