EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"Improvements to the fabric manufacturing processes
EMI1.1
sue de er8lDe dyed in pieces ".
The present invention relates to an improved method of making piece-dyed crepe fabrics comprising two strings of yarn and a weft of crepe.
A known process is that which consists of weaving in
EMI1.2
gold fabrics # pe, apBe1és or8: p6 Georgette, a series of effect threads by arranging them regularly to obtain in this way as an ornament a drawing effect On the other hand, we know that the raw thread in the taffeta-bonded fabric called crepe de chine, which comprises a chain of crepe and a weft of crepe, retains as a result of these elastic properties and as a result of the tension which occurs during weaving, a certain tension
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
chain or thread,
whence it anneals that the swelling and spreading of the primary greige threads is restricted after the dyeing treatment and that the fabric has a great luster as a result of this tension of the untwisted threads left exposed Thanks to the reciprocal relations existing between the warp and the weft and to the preliminary treatment which is subjected to the materials of the warp and the weft, as regards the twist and the arrangement of the twist, one thus obtains with the two fabrics in question closed characteristic effects. While Georgette crepe has a matte and crepe appearance, crepe de chine has a more solid and shiny appearance.
The object of the invention is to create a new and in particular loosely woven crepe fabric comprising two strings of threads with a crepe weft, this fabric having a crimped appearance, with a velvety luster and crystal points. shiny. While the Georgette crepe, despite its fuzzy appearance is entirely devoid of luster, the novel fabric, forming the subject of the invention, offers the advantage of exhibiting a soft velvet luster in combination with luminous tips. While the Georgette crepe is furthermore only a fine crepe fabric, the fabric according to the invention, in spite of its transparent character, is light, soft, shiny and filled, in combination with great extensibility.
According to the invention, a warp composed of slightly twisted or not twisted yarns is, as seen from the filling, introduced into a crepe chain uniformly yarn by yarn with one or more bottoms over the entire width, so that the yarns of this warp are relaxed after longitudinal retreat of the fabric by the dyeing, the primary yarns spreading out or moving away from each other to a greater extent thereby filling the fabric and simultaneously producing an effect more shiny, the very extensible crepe threads of the crepe warp therefore absorb the longitudinal traotion of the fabric,
while the slightly twisted or untwisted threads come to the state
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
relaxed spread out more or monk chrome each other.
These conditions give rise to great softness, stretchability, fill and lightness of the subject fabric, qualities which heretofore have not been achieved by any silk or similar fabric abbreviated on looms. On the amount of relaxation and the temporary tension of these filling threads, depends, during the movement of the wearer of the fabric, the relative light play of the fabric.
According to the invention, it is also possible to use a frame which is slightly twisted or not. twisted for uniform filling picked by pick at one or more ends, so that the primary yarns of that weft fill swell after the fabric has retreated by the dye to a greater extent and spreading apart from the width of the fabric. one of the other filled. feels in the relaxed state the fabric and simultaneously producing a shiny effect. The binding method of the filler warp made up of slightly twisted or untwisted threads may be identical to that of the crepe chain of the fabric or even be different.
The slightly twisted or untwisted filling weft may, in turn, be lined with the crepe weft or else be independent thereof. Thanks to this variety of combinations, it is possible to produce the most varied crystal effects in the presence of a more or less large crimped texture and a struggle of various content of the fabric.
By using materials which have undergone a different pretreatment, for example a filler warp made of dyed yarns solid in fleets. And also a dyed filling weft, solid in fleets, one can still make vary these effects, therefore, obtain in the special example exposed above effects of different colors.
The drawing shows schematically, by way of example, the embodiments of the tssus according to the invention.

Figure 4 is a longitudinal section along the weaving thread 1 of the fabric warp according to Figure 3.
Fig. 5 is a top view of the taffeta weave binding diagram of a third embodiment.
Figure 6 is a longitudinal section along the wire
1 weave / fabric warp according to figure 5.
The various warp threads are designated by reference numerals 1, 3, etc. The crepe warp bindings are shown in the top plan view and in longitudinal section respectively by a hatched square and by a 1% ne in zigzag,
The bindings of the lightly threaded filler warp forming the object of the present invention, twisted or not twisted which spread out are shown in the view from above and in the longitudinal section respectively by solid parts and by big lines. The crepe trama is represented in the view from above by the white squares and in the cross section by empty circles, All six figures are intended for greatly enlarged scales, in particular the three longitudinal sections 2,4 and 6.
The methods of binding the filling chain can be understood directly without any explanation on examination of figures 1, 3 and 5, @
In the first example of binding (figure 1 and '2), we obtain a fabric having the crêpe appearance of a fairly tight Georgette crepe with luster and fine grain crystal points, and this as a result of the binding of the chain filler in taffeta weave, that is to say pick by pick.
In the second example of tying (figures and 4), a fabric with a more faulty appearance is obtained, as a result of the tying of the failing type, that is to say the floating of the filling line on
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
two wefts, which gives a stronger sheen and brings out more weakly both the warp crepe and the weft crepe.
Thanks to the floating of the filling yarns on two tramasse fabric is softer, silkier and more abundant to the touch than the fabric according to the preceding example,,
In the third example of binding (FIGS. B and 6), a taffeta weave fabric is obtained, the binding diagram of which therefore corresponds to that of the first embodiment according to the invention; however a filling weft is doubled by the crepe weft, as can be seen by the longitudinal cut of the warp (figure 6). As a result of better filling of the fabric in both directions, the fabric appears a little brighter while retaining a light appearance.
In a crepe de chine where the crepe character is visible, the tying stitches and the slightly twisted or not twisted chain have a shiny appearance. In the fabric according to the invention (see Figures 2, 4 and 6), this effect is further enhanced by the fact that the upper tie stitches of the filling chain on the one hand are more distant due to the dye retreat. considerable crepe chain, and on the other hand contras-. so much: powerfully with the crepe chain which is matte.
As a material allowing the realization of the invention, we will mainly use silk. However, you can also use cotton, wool and artificial silk. For example, according to the invention, new varieties of fabrics will be manufactured by employing a warp of slightly twisted or unshorn acetate threads, as well as viscose orepe and pure silk crepe.
