"Shoe sole and its manufacturing process" The present invention relates to a shoe sole suitable for mass production, characterized by the essential points below with reference to the accompanying drawings which represent, by way of example, the main characteristic elements of the invention.
On these drawings @
Figure 1 is a cross-sectional view of the sole and heel,
Figure 2 is another cross-sectional view showing the leather sole to which is attached another sole formed of articulated slats.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Figure 3 shows, in plan and in section ,, the constituent elements of the sole formed of lattars articules s.
FIG. 4 is a perspective view in which has been schematically represented the operating mode used for the stamping of the leather which forms both the heel and the sole.
FIG. 5 is a detail view showing the stamping work and making it possible to understand the way in which the dies act.
Figure 6 shows, seen from below, the completed sole *
To carry out the invention, which essentially consists in embossing, in an appropriate manner, a single piece of leather forming both the heel and the sole, a metal jig, for example made of cast iron, is used, on which a piece is stamped. of leather which forms in 12. the heel and in b 'the sole.
The piece of leather b used is shown in broken lines in Figure 4, the latter was intended to show the general shape to be given to said piece, at the same time that the arrows drawn in this figure indicate the directions in which the product occurs. stamping work; FIG. 5 shows that action is taken both by vertical pressure in the direction of the arrow and by horizontal pressure directed along the arrows f1. After stamping, the template a is replaced by a final heel made of wood, gutta-percha or any other material, which is fixed by gluing or by any other means.
This process which applies to all kinds of

heels, like Louis XV, shoemaker, English, etc ...... eliminates the shaping of the heel groove since it is in one piece or holding with the whole of the sole and the faces, of the body of the heel, only the right end, Ç, is added, in the ordinary way.
A steel arch µ. Embedded in the thickness of the sole and of the heel is fixed at 9.4 by a screw in the hollow of the heel socket and can affect various arrangements depending on the nature of the arch required by the shoe. we manufacture.
The sole object of the invention can, of course, be manufactured in all fitting widths and in different sizes, both in width and in length, on demand.
For certain special applications of the sole which is the subject of the invention, and in particular with a view to its application to the beach shoe, it is possible to add to said sole, a sole formed of articulated slats, as is shown in Figures 2 and 3.
FIG. 3 represents the mode of constitution of this articulated Somalia which is composed of adjoining slats L fixed by gluing or other process on a support 9, constituted either by any fabric or by felt, rubber crepe, leather, or even by the sole itself.
The articulated sole is fixed, by gluing, pa.r screws or by any other means, on the sole b '. as shown in figure 2. the slats 1 may be of wood of any suitable species or of rubber, fiber, etc., and they are bevelled, up to

1 flower of the sole, in order to leave free play to dust or sand liable to get stuck in the slots.
It can be seen in FIG. 2 that the sole formed of slats is inserted inside the leather sole in the arched part of the taldn, so as to get lost at the tail of the heel in the general movement of the throat.
It is also noted that for this reason the thickness of the slats 1 is reduced in this latter region.
We reserve the right to apply the sole in articulated slats described above, not only to shoes comprising a single piece of leather with the heel, but also to all other shoes regardless of their manufacturing process.
