<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
15 lorsque celui-ci a basculé (fig.6).

<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
finalement déversées dans ladite poubelle ;

Apparatus for cleaning the fall pipes and automatic evacuation of household waste.
Until now the devices used in the apartments to evaporate the household refuse were either mobile devices such as the portable
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
kitchen garbage, either from fixed appliances such as hinged wall-mounted dry-operated sinks, or from sinks sealed in the kitchen floor, generally under the sink, working with water, by means of hand-operated valves. hand.
The mobile devices in which the garbage is kept and which must be taken down by the wall bars are unhealthy and inconvenient.
The dry empties, connected to a vertical duct which forms a drop, but also a call chimney, spreading odors during their opening for the introduction of refuse and deteriorate rapidly.
As for water sinks with valves, they have the following drawbacks:
The garbage can be introduced into the device without putting water in it and the valve can be lifted as quickly as possible, resulting in clogging of the drop pipes and their extensions.
The water which flows from the overflow when the body of the appliance is filled only seeps into the pipes without flushing.
The proportion of garbage to water is variable since the capacity that receives it is common to garbage and water.
The apparatus is dependent on the operation of a valve which can be done at any time even when it is not necessary.
The operation of the valve is painful because indefinite. during its weight to be lifted it is still necessary to overcome the weight of the column of water which surmounts it.
The valve must be tight; and it wears a fragile and perishable elastic seal.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
When the valve is lifted or if the seal is not tight, odors enter the apartment.
The apparatus for cleaning the fall pipes and evacuating household waste which is the subject of the present invention consists essentially of a drain body, of suitable shape, connected to a foot siphon and provided with a cover with a siphoned orifice which can be the sink itself, which sink body internally comprises an automatic rocker arranged so as to produce violent flushes of water in the drop pipes.
At the base of said pipe is placed the actual evacuation apparatus. This apparatus comprises a separating chamber where the water entraining the solid debris are received by a perforated conveyor belt which allows the water to pass through. punctures to a sewer line and takes the rubbish to a trash can.
The energy required to set the treadmill in motion can be supplied directly by the living force of the refuse at the bottom of their fall, by causing them to activate a tilting pallet, the axis of which is connected by inter- grained to the conveyor rollers of the carpet, or else 'be provided by an auxiliary motor, electric motor, spring or the like, operating intermittently, and released by the tilting pallet.
The description which will follow with regard to the accompanying drawing given by way of example will make it clear how the invention can be implemented.

Figure 8 is a section taken through the orifice line 8-8 of Figure 7.
FIG. 9 relates to an alternative embodiment.
The appliance consists of a sink 1 carrying a siphon plug 2 for the continuous flow of water and the introduction of refuse, a sump body 3, containing an automatic tilting device 4, a siphon of foot 5, and a drop fitting 6 interposed in a drop pipe 7
The sink has at its low point an orifice bordered by a grooved groove 8 which retains a small surface of water into which the projecting edge 9 of the siphon plug 2 plunges.
The upper part of this siphon plug carries orifices 10 for the passage of water and a surface baffle 11 which plunges into a water seal held by the projection of an outlet tube 12. The water can thus s '' flow continuously through the water seal that forms a hydraulic occlusion. There is therefore no communication between the atmosphere of the voidor body and that of the room where the appliance is located and consequently no odor can emerge outside.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
Inside the emptying body 3 is housed the rocker 4 which constitutes an automatic movable member.
, The rocker can oscillate freely around a horizontal axis 13. It is closed on all sides except at the top which is wide open. It is asymmetrical with respect to the axis. thanks to a longitudinal spout 14 which does not exist on the opposite side. Straddling the upper edges and in the middle of the opening is fixed a waste basket 15, in the shape of a scoop, the bottom of which is double sloped with a smooth part 16 and a perforated part 17 and whose cheeks
18 are also perforated.
The lower part of the emptying body gradually narrows in the shape of a funnel and ends with an orifice 19 immediately placed under the spout of the basket
15 when it has tilted (fig.6).
This orifice corresponds to that of the foot siphon 5 on which the body of the sump rests. Under normal circumstances and until the moment of overturning of the rocker, the weight of the water and garbage keeps the rocker in its horizontal position by pressing it against the stop 20.
The foot siphon 5 has a water seal which forms a hydraulic occlusion and which consequently prohibits any communication between the atmosphere of the drop pipe and that of the body of the drain, thus suppressing the odors likely to come from the network of sewers, while allowing the passage of waste water and garbage.
The foot siphon opens into the drop fitting 6 - to which it is connected by a removable gasket 21 'The drop fitting 6, located at the top of the current breeches, is symmetrical with respect to the horizontal / median plane.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
zontal of the tubing. Its profile is that of the drop parabola corresponding to the water load after the tilting mechanism has overturned. The lower walls are washed out at all points by the flush. In addition, the increase in section above the median plane combats the influence, on the water seal of the foot siphon, of the passage of the flushes of the upper floors in the drop pipe to the right of said foot siphon.
The operation of the device is as follows :.
The lost water coming from the draw-off tap above the sink, flows through the orifices 10 of the siphon-plug 8, through which it passes through the water seal, renewing it, then, overflowing through the outlet tube 12 it falls into the refuse basket 15, from where it escapes through the perforated parts to fall to the bottom of the tilt 4.
It collects in this rocker and its level rises there until it reaches the cantilever spout 14. The center of gravity of the rocker assembly moves towards the spout until it reaches. obtain the unstable equilibrium and the overturning of the rocker (fig. 5 and 6) The water flows suddenly through the longitudinal spout which, on approaching the vertical wall of the drain body, forms a resistance like the blade of a mill wheel (fig. 5) the assembly is therefore violently solicited in a half-rotation movement from top to bottom (figure 6)
This sudden and massive waterfall puts load on the foot siphon which pours the mass of water into the pipe 7, constituting an energetic flush. As soon as the tipper has emptied, it rises by its weight to take back its position. - initial position by leaning against the stop 20
As a result of this automatic operation, the drips usually lost in the
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
Sinks in useful flushes of water which maintain in perfect state of projection the pipes of fall and their extensions.
- But the device also serves as a garbage dump.
To this end, the housewife discovers the orifice of the sink 1 by removing the siphon plug 2; then through this orifice it introduces the household refuse suitably reduced in size into the refuse basket 15; it replaces the siphon-plug 2 in the grooves 8 of the sink. When new amounts of water have been introduced, the same effect as that described above occurs and the tilting lever overturns takes place. Then the garbage slides on the smooth bottom 16 receiving water injections by the perforated parts 17 and 18; then fall directly into the orifice 19 while, on each side of the basket, the masses of water suddenly pour out, maintaining or bringing the refuse to the center, pushing them into the foot siphon which they pass through rapidly.
From there the whole (water and household garbage) is entrained in the fall pipe.
To facilitate the passage of garbage into the siphon, it has a very elongated outlet curvature and a weak water seal. There can be no clogging since, by the very arrangement of the capacity garbage basket limited, there is a suitable ratio between the volume of garbage to be projected and the volume of water which ensures the projection.
In addition, the device is fully automatic and does not require any direct, delicate and untimely operation.
It goes without saying that one could however provide a hand control device such as an emergency crank which would fit on the extension of the axis 13 to imperatively produce the oscillation of the rocker in the event of accidental jamming; the axis 13 would then be fitted with a cable gland ensuring the seal.
The end of duct 7 can discharge into a
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
apparatus for receiving, draining and evacuating waste shown in FIGS. 7 to 9.
Garbage (water and solid waste) arrives via pipe 7 in a nozzle 3 8., - which opens into a closed chamber 3a this chamber is connected to the sewer pipe 4a for the evacuation of water and liquids , and an envelope 5a containing the bin 6a in which the solid residues must be poured after separation and draining.
On leaving the nozzle 2a the garbage falls on the pallet 'la which can pivot around the axis' 8 and is controlled by means of a pawl 27a of a ratchet 27b and a system of gears 9a 10a and il &, the rotation of a roller 12a supporting the moving belt 13a
This mat is perforated so as to allow liquids to pass and to retain only solid detritus, and it also carries partitions 15a, placed at intervals, to separate the refuse coming from two successive falls, so that partially drained garbage is not wetted again by the water coming from the following falls. Finally, under the carpet is provided a kind of deflector 16a preventing water passing through the perforations,
to soil the lower half of the carpet, which is washed by the water flowing from a perforated pipe 17a. The device works as follows: -
The garbage striking the pallet 'la causes it to tilt in the direction of the arrow f1 which causes, by means of the pawl 27a and the ratchet 27b, the setting in rotation of the gears 9a 10a and 11a and the displacement of the carpet in direction f2 The garbage then falls on the carpet and gets lodged between two partitions 15a where it drains completely, while being gradually moved towards the bin 6a during the following falls and is
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
finally dumped in said trash;
water passing through the perforations 13a is received by an inline plane 3b and discharged through the sewer pipe 4a
It is obvious that modifications can be made to the embodiment which has just been given by way of example, without thereby departing from the scope of the present invention.
The mat can be made in any suitable way, for example be formed by a Titan-like belt, or any other as flexible material (rubber, thin sheet, metal cloth, etc.) Its length will vary with the number. of falls that can occur during the day and the time during which it is desired that a fall remains on the carpet to drip there before being brought to the hen
If it is feared that the living force stored in the garbage is not sufficient to be able to move the belt as has just been described, the energy necessary for this movement can be borrowed from an auxiliary motor. - electric or spring-loaded. In the first case, the tilting pallet 7a will actuate,
as shown in figure 9 a contactor formed by a blade 12a normally pressing on the insulating button 19a but coming, when it is tilted, to face a conductive sector 20a to form the motor starting circuit. at 'spring, .la. The tilting pallet will also operate the engine start lever.
