<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Fig. 6 montre la barre de recourbage .
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
On peut faire varier la forme du lien 4 telle qu'elle est représentée , Afin d'offrir une résistanoe minimum au passage de l'eau par le tuyau, ce lien peut être conformé au creux de londulation (comme représenté) si de la tôle ondulée est employée ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
soit l'une, soit les deux, peuvent être recourbées vers lels haut ou vers le bas et ceci peut être fait à pied d'oeuvre . Le lien peut être intérieur aussi bien qu'ex- térieur, et il peut se conformer ou non au cercle du tuyau;

Fastening link for interlocking construction elements such as pipe elements "
The object of the present invention is a pormet- tant link (brings together:! 'Elements of pipes or other sheet metal objects established to be nested in one another with a view to transport' It is particularly applicable to metal pipes. removable tallies of all kinds intended for use as conduits, tube culverts,
canals, etc., such as those used for drainage or irrigation works and which may be composed of complementary semi-circular elements provided with edges
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
fitting and fixing devices suitable for keeping them assembled to form the complete circular pipe.
There are several advantages to the fastening link being separable from the sheet metal element. Indeed, as this type of pipe is particularly suitable for shipment in a low volume, this is born - necessary for export or when the use must be made in a remote location, the fixing links must not interfere with the fitting of the elements in the form of packages. But precisely 'the invention makes it possible to package the links separately when the danger due to the loss or to the damage is negligible.
The removable link of the invention has many advantages which are specific to it: It is in one piece; it does not have screw threads and does not need nuts; it is very easily and quickly set up on the job; it can be put in place without any manipulation from inside the pipe or other object. Further, it offers very little impediment to the flow of water when employed with corrugated pipe, as this link is shaped to fit in the recess of the corrugation.
The link can be designed to be used on all kinds of pipes that can be disassembled and fitted, Its role is to tighten or block against each other each pair of pipe elements that you want to assemble.
If the assembled hose has to be transported from one place to another and disassembled, the tie can be quickly removed and used again or even replaced 1

at a very low price.
This improved link will now be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawing which shows its preferred embodiment, it being understood, however, that changes may be made thereto without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a partial elevation of pipe as-
4 seemed, showing the link / in place,
Fig. 2 is a section taken on line 2-2 in Figure 1.
Fig. 3 is a section taken on line 3-3 of Figure 1, showing the completed coupling.
Fig; 4 is a section, also taken on line 3-3 of FIG. 1, showing the method of inserting the link.
Fig. 5 shows a method and a device which can be employed for bending the link.
Fig. 6 shows the curling bar.
Fig. 7 is a section showing the bending of the protruding ends of the link in either direction.
The type of interlocking duct which is represented is a simple example of embodiment, its conformation being able to be modified if desired, 3 are protruding pressed tabs cut on both sides in the edges of the lower plate 2, in which are inserted the edges of the semicircular element united 1.
The bottom of the stamped tabs 3 forms a very satisfactory stop for the upper part which rests on it, the wing link 4 prevents the separation of the holes 5
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
and 6 (of which there may be one or more pairs) which are performed in tales 2 and 1 respectively; it therefore provides the required rigidity when the pipe is subjected to forces,
Figure 4 shows link 4 in the form suitable for use during its installation. It is in fact inserted, in this form, into the hole 5, as shown in this figure, by holding the projecting lower end 8.
Using the hole 5 as a pivot point on which the transverse part 8a of this link can turn by pushing down on the end 8, to bring it into the position shown in dotted lines, the other curved end 7 moves. along the dotted line and it meets hole 6, goes through this hole and protrudes out of this hole.
It is now necessary to bend the end 7, retort shown in dotted lines in Figure 4, to bring it into the position shown in solid lines in Figure 3.
A very satisfactory way to effect this curving is to use the lever 9 shown in Figures 5 and 6. The upper end 7 of the link 4 is placed in the hole 10 of the lever 9 and the latter is placed in the position shown in solid lines in figure 5 0 The lower end of this lever acts as a pivot and, when this lever is pushed to bring it into the position shown in dotted lines, the projecting end 7 of the tab is bent in the position shown in dotted lines; at the same time, the link is strained.
The hole 10 provided in the lever 9 is blocked on the end
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
7 and, when this lever is pushed back into the position shown in dotted lines, a sufficient part of the end 7 is pulled through the hole 6 to absorb all the loose part of the link 4 and ensure a tight connection.
FIG. 7 shows a variant of the formation of the stop ends of the link 4. In this case, the ends 7 and 8 can be bent one upwards and the other downwards, after insertion in the pipe hit wheat. These curved ends could be made to allow the use of the lever 9, as previously described.
If it is necessary to remove a tie from the assembled pipe, the lever 9 can be attached to the end 7 of the tie (as shown in dotted lines in Figure 5) and be straightened into the position shown in solid lines in this figure. The link is then free and can be released through the hole 5 provided in the lower plate 2; it can be used again when you want to reassemble the pipe
We can vary the shape of the link 4 as shown, In order to offer a minimum resistance to the passage of water through the pipe, this link can be conformed to the hollow of the corrugation (as shown) if the sheet metal wavy is employed;
it can also be made to conform to the diameter of the pipe used,
It will be seen from the above that the link can be placed from outside the pipe; nuts or threaded members are not necessary; the reoourbage operation tightens the link; any part of the link gives the same result; the link is easily removed and its protruding ends,
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
either one or both can be bent up or down and this can be done on the job. The link can be interior as well as exterior, and may or may not conform to the circle of the pipe;
moreover, it is not limited to this conduit shape and its lower end is not necessarily shaped into a stop by simple reoourbage, because any stop with a suitable head can be provided for this purpose.
