Les Fig. 3, 4 et 5 sont des vues de profils de di- verses autres applications;
La Fig. 6 est une coupe partielle et à plus grande échelle correspondant à la Fig. 4;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"SAFETY HANGING DEVICE FOR PINS
OF TIES, BADGES AND THE LIKE ".
The drawback of tie pins, badges or the like is known which, being fixed to the fabric which carries them by means of a point, are frequently lost because said point slips out of the fabric under the influence of various causes. Stop systems have already been devised to overcome this drawback. The most common consists of a removable sleeve which is placed at the free end of the point after it has been hooked.
Besides its heaviness, this system is mainly criticized for the ease of losing or damaging the removable sleeve, which may necessitate its replacement and which appreciably reduces the safety expected from it.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The present invention provides a safety fastening device for jewelry such as tie pins, badges and the like, integral with said objects and characterized essentially in that it comprises an auxiliary tip opposing the tip. main fixing. The jewels, when they are hung, are thus held, in one direction, by the main pin and in the other direction, by the auxiliary point which and directly opposes the exit of the first.
The auxiliary point can be rigidly fixed to the back of the jewel or to a suitable frame; in this case it can be constituted by a simple sharp hook, integral or not of the main pin. Bile can also be mobile and actuated by means of a spring, so as to allow an easier release, during the removal of the jewel.
In order to make the invention clearly understood, a few embodiments thereof have been shown in the accompanying outline, by way of example.
Fig. 1 is a rear view of a tie pin provided with such a safety device.
Fig. 2 is a side view corresponding to FIG. 1.
Figs. 3, 4 and 5 are profile views of various other applications;
Fig. 6 is a partial section and on a larger scale corresponding to FIG. 4;
Fig. 7 is a partial section and on a larger scale corrugating to FIG. 5.
In Figs. 1 and 2, 1 is the badge or jewel to hang, 2 the fixing pin mounted on the back of the bi-toy. According to the invention, a sharp hook 3 is also fixed to the back of the jewel, the point directed in the opposite direction
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
that of the pin 2. In this case, the hook 3 forms a single piece with the pin 2; it is oriented a little obliquely with respect to the direction of this pin, in order to facilitate the use which is done as follows: First, we engage pin 2 fully in the fabric and then pull it out a little so as to engage in its turn in the fabric the point of the hook 3. The removal is carried out by the reverse operation.
Fig. 3 shows a similar assembly but in which the pin 2 is articulated to the jewel 1 by means of a pivot 4; the hook 3 constitutes an independent part suitably fixed to the jewel. The articulation of the pin 2 gives even greater convenience of use to the system which is the subject of the invention, in that it allows a hooking and a easier release of the auxiliary tip 3.
In the example shown in FIG. 4, the pin 2 is rigidly fixed to the part 1, but the hook 3 is movable.
It comprises (Fig. 5) a stop head 5 on which rests a spring 6, placed in a guide 7. By means of suitable traction, the hook 3 can be brought into position 3 '; in this position, it can be turned outwards, which eliminated the risk of accidental catching on the fabric * In this device, the operation of the pin 2 and of the hook 3 are independent of one of the other.
In Fig. 5, the pin 2 is still rigidly fixed to the jewel 1; the safety member here consists of a tip 8, movable in a guide 11 and carrying a stop piece 9 on which a spring 10 acts (Fig 7). The point 8 is terminated at its lower part by an operating head 12. As in the previous case, the operation of the pin 2 and that of the point 8 are carried out by two distinct operations.
