<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

In fireplaces, with natural draft, of boilers for central heating, combustion is very poor, due to the continual variations: of the temperature in the hearth and of the quantity of air drawn by the natural draft.
The variations in temperature are due to loads that are too far apart and too large.
Once charged, the temperature in the hearth drops from 300 to 4000 within a few minutes.
The quantity of air drawn by the boiler varies, because the resistance of the hood itself varies according to the size of the latter. This quantity of air also depends on the temperature of the gases, the temperature of which the difference from the ambient temperature creates the draft.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
ge, ot, this temperature drops considerably during loadings, that is to say at times when the combustible layer, being the important plas, would require the maximum draft.
The result is that the combustion is poor and, as a result of the air insafflation, very often, 3 to 4% of CO is found in the evacuated famées, which causes a loss of calories and, moreover, is harmful. .
Various manufacturers of central heating boilers have tried to remedy this drawback and the aforementioned shortcomings by modifying the chaadjère, that is to say by lowering the gas outlet relative to the fuel tank.
The production of 00 was thus reduced, but it still occurred during part of the time when the boiler is running.
Other builders have tried to make the fuel layer constant by means of an inclined plane in which the coal gradually descends as it burns.
Manufacturers of blown fireplaces have tried to apply a lean system to central heating boilers, but the results have always been negative, as the blast pressure required to pass through the layer of 50 cm or more is exaggerated and causes gunshots in creating a crater in the layer of fuel, and as a result of this great pressure, considerable entrainments of ash and dust formed in the chimney.
To obviate these drawbacks of blown fireplaces, the present invention is designed in such a way that it allows a rapid ignition of a fresh charge while avoiding the aforementioned shots and training.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The invention is shown by way of example in the accompanying drawings:
Fig. 1 is a vertical section, taken through a cast iron boiler, showing the arrangement of the nozzles, trough, and bars mounted therein.
We see at. angel's boat the natural draw bar.
Fig. 2 is a horizontal coape of the same boiler showing the hearth from which the blown bars have been removed and the natural draft berreaux to the for, - toar of the blown hearth ,.
Fig. 3 is a section through a tube boiler la ira and indexes the arrangement (the coal forming a fuel reserve.
Fig. 4. shows the plan view of the same tubalsire chaadiere.
Figs. 5, 6 and 7 show in cross section and in plan the arrangement of different combinations of location for the blown edges and the natural draft bars.
The hearth consists of two completely separate parts which form a combination!
1 - the low pressure blown hearth, consisting of the injector I. ane nozzle 2, the angel 3, and the blown bars 4,
2 - and the natural draft fireplace comprising: baraesax 5, the air box 6, the operation of the appliance is as follows: the outside air is drawn in by means of the injectors I qai deliver compressed air oa vapear.
This drive mode is replaced where there is compressed air or. the valear are lacking, per year ventilatear
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
which brings the air under pressure and which is adjusted so that this creates in the aage 3, a pressure of about 2 to 3 mm.
As will be indicated lower, soas the grid exists a variable pressure and this thanks to the particular shape of the bars whose arrangement has been described in the French patents of the invention n 584,030 of July 26, 1924, for: II Boiler hearths and towers "and n 586,681 of September 29, 1924, for: n Improvements made to the construction of boiler hearths n.
The pressure is very low at the entrance of the angel and then increases towards the bottom, as it is said in the aforementioned patents .. the fuel layer 7, at the bottom of the trough is so considerable that the pressure, which is 4 to 8 mm, is insufficient to overcome the resistance of the fuel and the rear part of the fireplace acts as a fuel reserve. this tank not being crossed by air.
As a result, this tank is subjected to heating at its surface only, unlike what happens in a natural draft candle where the air passes through the layer of fuel and, therefore, facilitates the distillation of gas. the latter, by producing in CO as it is said above, hydrocarbons, which prohibits the use of industrial coals in the central heating chaadières.
On the front part of the fireplace, the thickness of the carbon is low.
Ignition takes place immediately after charging and combustion takes place slowly, at the low pressure indicated above, with a high percentage of CO2.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
As the fuel tank formed by the layer 7 of carbon is only heated to undermine f hereally as stated, the small quantity of CO produced is burned thanks to the presence of the excess air coming from the front hearth. .
The same phenomenon occurs on the natural draft grid. the fuel layer being very faulty owing to the location of the fuel tank which is almost always located in its middle of the candle. and under the influence of the natural draft, which only has to overcome the resistance of the smallest part of the grid, the other part being blown, the combastion takes place in a regular and continuous manner.
After a new charge, the resistance of the fuel layer is too strong, the air which enters by the troughs and the blown bars passes through the bars with natural draft, after the oxygen is collected. in this air is transformed into CO2 and after having contributed to the release of calories resulting from the combustion.
From there it follows that the combustion takes place during a few minâtes in zones close to the bars with natural draft as indicated by the arrows (fig. 6 and 7).
The areas gradually increase in importance whenever. they reach the gas evacuation oarneaaxes, from this moment, the draft is reestablished and combustion takes place normally.
There occurs. to note that the. na- tarel pull bars can be placed indifferently either at the end of the age or on the sides or aa boat and on the sides at the same time, or in the middle, interposed between the blown bars mounted on the angels.
The location and the number depend on the size of the focus, on the position of the

management and that of the famine evacuation survey, and the arrangements shown in Figures 5, 6 and 7 are by way of example only.
