<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Fig.l en est une élévation latérale,
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The object of the present invention is a stool, the upper part of which has a rod by which it is rotatable on the. lower part opposite which it can be brought to various heights by rotation.
This stool differs from other known stools in that it comprises a coil spring disposed on the lower part and in which the rod is engaged coaxially, this rod having at least one projection engaged between the turns of the spring and by which the the upper part rests on the spring, which carries it, the whole arranged in such a way that, when the upper part is rotated it rises, or lowers, relative to the lower part, under the action of the projection constrained to follow the curve formed by the coil spring.
An embodiment of the stool according to the invention is shown, schematically and by way of example, in the accompanying drawing in which:
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 1 is a side elevation,
Fig. 2 a plan view in section passing through line 1-1 of FIG. 1.
In this embodiment, the lower part is in the form of a tripod with wooden legs 1 joined by two metal spacers each comprising three cylindrical rods 2 arranged in a star and joined in the center of the star by a ring 3. Between these two rings 3 is arranged the coil spring @ 6 made of steel, engaged in the ring of the lower spacer by one of its curved ends 7 which holds it in position preventing it from rotating, and applied by its other end. - tee against the upper ring by its own tension.
The upper part of the stool comprises a wooden disc 4: is fixed to a smooth cylindrical rod 5 of rotation engaged coaxially in the spring and passing through the two rings 3 which guide it while playing the role of rotation pads. This rod 5 is crossed by a pin 8, the two ends of which project on either side of the rod and are engaged between the turns of the spring. This pin is inclined on the axis of the rod at an angle corresponding to the pitch of the spring, and the pitch of the spring, the diameter of the wire forming the spring and the diameter of the pin 8 are such that the two ends of the latter each rest on the spring which thus carries the rotating upper part of the stool.
It is easy to understand that by rotating this upper part, it will lower or rise, according to the direction of this rotation, relative to the lower part, and cela under the action of the ankle 8 constrained by follow the curve formed by the coil spring.
Two fingers 9 and 10, each fixed in one of the rings 3, serve as stoppers for the ankle 8 which they prevent from

get stuck between the spring and the rings, while limiting the plate 4 in its movements of rotation and displacement in the direction of its axis; can thus vary the height of the stool at will between these limits.
The stool described has the great advantage of being elastic, elasticity proportional to the number of turns located below the ankle 8 notched; a person placed on the seat thus has a comfortable seat that is not tiring, which is particularly noticeable during a prolonged position on the seat; the handling of the stool is very easy, and the wear of the friction members, rod 5, protrusions 8, spring 6 and rings 3, is practically zero, just a small amount of lubricant to ensure the game is perfect.
The stool according to the invention may differ from the embodiment described, for example: the number and shape of its various organs; could have more than three feet, these can present another aspect; the spring could be fixed differently and have a number of turns other than that shown; protrusions could be other, etc.
