<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Rotary compressor for gaseous fluids
The present invention relates to a rotary compressor for gaseous fluids, which 'has the advantages over other compressors of this type already known, that the pistons are independent of each other and freely arranged in their respective cylinder, that they do not require no lubrication and are in contact, by the effect of centrifugal force, with a movable sliding path arranged eccentrically.
According to the invention, the pistons' are made of graphite or a similar material; they are independent of each other and play freely in radial openings made in a rotating disc in an eccentric bowl, the base of the disc being in communication with the lumen of the inlet and outlet channels made in the axis of the compressor.
The eccentric sliding path with which the pistons are constantly in contact by the effect of centrifugal force, consists of a ring rotating on rollers, the latter preferably being of graphite or the like.
As for the disc carrying the pistons, it is mounted on its axis via a graphite ring or the like which can be bored to receive the base of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
pistons and carry the windows passing in front of the suction and discharge lights.
In the accompanying drawing is shown, by way of example, an embodiment of the present invention: FIG. is a cross section through the compressor; fig. 2 is a section on A-B of FIG. 1.
The compressor has an axis in the body of which are formed channels b, c for the admission and discharge of the air and which end with slots b ', c' provided on the outline of the axis a .
On the axis a, is passed with gentle friction, a rod d preferably made of graphite or the like, in order to operate a light sliding on the axis without requiring the lubrication of the contact surfaces. This ring d bears notches d 'which receive the base of corresponding pistons. On the ring d is fitted a metal disc e which is extended from the inside of the compressor by a thinned part e '. using a suitable coupling, the -disc is rotated in the direction of the arrow (see fig. 2).
In the disc ¯µ¯ are made radially openings f in the form of cylinders extending from the notches d 'and which receive the pistons ± preferably made of graphite or the like in order to avoid having to lubricate the contact surfaces. . Finally, on the axis is fixed an eccentric cup h. the degree of eccentricity of this cup with respect to the axial line of the axis ¯µ corresponds to the maximum stroke which one wishes to give to the pistons g.
In order to prevent the pistons from rubbing on the inside face of the cup h, a ring i is inserted which must constitute the sliding path for the pistons g, and between the cup h and the ring i, rollers 1 which are also preferably supplied in graphite or other suitable material.
The pressure exerted by the piston on the ring i is minimal and much less than that which the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
graphite rollers 1 and practically the wear of these rollers :, after prolonged operation, is thus hard to zero.
From the above description, it emerges that the pressure exerted by the piston on the ring! operates little or no sliding on it, which prevents the compressor from heating up, since this ring can be easily driven by the pistons.
On the other hand, on suction, the pistons are lifted only by centrifugal force, while on compression, they are brought back to the center by the eccentricity of the ring forming the sliding path for said piston.
The air intake means and its discharge in the compressed state are already sufficiently known not to be described in the present specification, especially since fig.2 clearly shows the suction and compression times.
Due to the fact that the operation of the compressor takes place without the need for either connecting the pistons or lubricating any component, or fitting them on a spring, this compressor finds its application in all cases where it is necessary to produce compressed air, and mainly to give pressure in beer kegs, for inflation of tires and all applications where compressed air cannot contain oil.
Furthermore, the starting is abrupt since the pistons do not exert resistance on the slip path.
The invention has been described purely as an indication and in no way limiting, and it goes without saying that numerous modifications can be made to its details without departing from its spirit.
