Le mouvement inverse a pour effet d'étein- dre la lampe. red oa in celluloid and of conformation such as to represent an arrow or a hand on each side of the box, oa that this box itself is conformed as described. The signal arm is generally operated by means of a Bowden cable coupled to this arm and to an operating lever.
In the above-mentioned type of apparatus, it has already been proposed to use various forms of contact members, inserted in the conductive circuit of the vehicle lighting, so that the lamp comes on when the arm is in the indicating position, and so that the circuit is interrupted when the arm is moved to the position where it does not signal, this constituting means of automated control of the lighting.
The present invention consists of the establishment of improved contact members, for the aforementioned asage, and of the establishment inside the signal arm, of a colored box, of celluloid or of a celluloid. equivalent material, arranged to be held securely inside the arm, and to enclose the electric lamp at one of its ends, so that the entire light effect can be concentrated inside of the box, so as to clearly indicate the arrow or other indication provided on each side of the arm, the box being easily removable when it is desired to change the lamp.
The invention will be fully described below, with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which:

internal organs;
Figure 2 is a side elevation; cigar 3 is a front elevation of the. arm, with half of the box in place; Figure 4 is a side elevation thereof;
Figures 5 and 6 are partial elevations, front and side, respectively showing a variant of the arrangement of switch member shown in Figures 1 to @;
Figure 7 is a longitudinal section of the celluloid box;
Fig. 8 is a cross section, at its widest part, and
Fig. 9 is a sectional plan.
According to the invention, the signaling arm consists of a box made of two parts a and b, fixed to each other so as to form a hollow box, by means of screws c. each part of the box is provided with an opening) d, generally in the shape of an arrow, although it can be made in the shape of a human hand. Inside the box is arranged an electric lamp which fits into a suitable socket f to which the conductors of the car lighting circuit terminate. There is also provided, inside the box, a box g, preferably made of colored celluloid, generally red, although it can be made of another suitable material, partially transparent.
This box is open at one of its ends h, so that when one half of the casing constituting the arm is removed, the box can be easily placed in pl-ce, and be easily removed when it is desired to change. the lamp.

When the signal arm is in the normal position, shown in figure 1,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
the free end of the arm n is suspended so as to be completely free from the tube q, against it is seen in three confinas in figure 1, so that no current can reach the lamp, but when - that the signal arm is raised to the position shown in dotted lines, which is the one in which the direction signal is in the indicating position, the arm of the switch comes into contact with the tube, as is shown in dotted lines, and the lamp lights up. when the movement takes place in the opposite direction, the lamp goes out.
In the form of the invention shown in Figures 3 and 4, in which similar members bear reference characters similar to those of Figures 1 and 2, one of the conductors of the lamp is connected to a metal wire or other terminal , carried by the insulating disc p, while the 2 pivot is mounted or a metal bagae r is suspended from the terminal, surrounding the tube q of the signaling arm.
The other terminal s of the lamp is in contact with the signaling arm, when the latter is in the vertical position shown in FIG. 3, the bagae being suspended so as to be perfectly free from the tube q, but when the signal arm is brought to the indicating position, the ring comes into contact with the tube and thus lights the lamp. The contact position is shown in dotted lines. The reverse movement has the effect of turning off the lamp. In Figures 1 and 3, part of the insulator b is removed to clearly show the switch members, but it is understood that in both cases the movable part of the interrupt-

FIGS. 5 and 6 show a part of the fixed envelope t with open sides, inside which the signaling arm is enclosed when it is in the position where it is not signaling.
In these figures, another form of switch device is shown, consisting of a contact strip a made of copper or brass, disposed concentrically to the tube, this strip being folded laterally towards the outside and left free at one end, binds so as to be elastic, while the other end is fixed to the signal arm by a screw g. Jn average or. insulating disc p is located between the strip and the arm. -One of the conductors of the is fixed ¯¯ to the strip, while the other is tightened by a screw w on the casing t.
When the signal arm is in the vertical position, the tape is not in contact with the screw w and the lamp is off. On the other hand, when the signal arm is in the indicator position, the strip engages the screw and lights the lamp.
