"Dispositif de signalisation électrique pour
EMI1.1
v,ttur.St'>uJ.9[1.9.'..
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Electrical signaling device for
EMI1.1
v, ttur.St '> uJ.9 [1.9.' ..
The present invention relates to an electrical signaling device for motor cars operating independently of the will of the driver before the latter does so. kills the maneuver, this in accordance with the requirements of the highway code.
The characteristic of the invention consists in controlling, by means of suitable contacts placed on the brake pedal, on the handbrake lever and on the steering wheel, the lighting of the following inscriptions placed on an indicator and luminous plate arranged at the same time. the rear of the car: "CAUTION" "STOP". On each side of these inscriptions is also an arrow on the right and one on the left intended to indicate the direction that the vehicle will take.
The invention is shown by way of example in the accompanying drawing in which the single figure shows the device employed and the electrical connections for controlling the flashing of the two arrows indicating that the car is going to turn to the right or to the right. left.
The device consists of an indicator plate and

light 1 placed at the rear of the car divided into lighting compartments for the various signals. This plate bears the following inscriptions "WARNING" "STOP" as well as the two arrows mentioned 2 and 3.
The plate may be fitted with a bell 4 which operates whenever one of the above inscriptions is illuminated. ree.
The illumination of the inscriptions or arrows is as follows:
When the driver wants to slow down the vehicle, he brakes with the handbrake or presses the foot brake lightly, or disengages slightly. These three components are fitted with an electrical contact connected to a lamp intended to illuminate the "ATTENTION" inscription. This contact therefore operates as soon as one of these three components is actuated; however, when the vehicle is stopped, no inscription is illuminated, as the handbrake is placed in the full braking position.
To bring the vehicle to a stop, the driver disengages and brakes first lightly with the foot brake, which causes the inscription "ATTENTION" to light up, then disengaging and braking more fully, the inscription " STOP "lights up immediately *
Arrows 2 and 3 placed on either side of the preceding inscriptions are illuminated by means of lamella contacts 5 and 6 fixed to the steering wheel 7. On all cars and preferably on those fitted with a geared steering, l 'a toothed pinion 9 will be mounted on the steering rod 8 actuating the toothed wheel 10 on the axis of which is fixed a contact rod II resting on the lamella 12 connected by means of the conductors 13 and 14 to terminals 15 and 16 of lamella contacts 5 and 6.
Contact rod II is connected by wire 17 to the negative pole of the battery. When pressing on one of the lamella contacts 5 or 6 while tightening it with the hand, one of the lamps 18 lighting up one or the other arrow is caused. To prevent the ex-

When these lamps go out during the maneuver, the contact lever II driven by the rotation of the toothed wheel 10 rubs against the auxiliary contacts 19 or 20 depending on the direction the driver wishes to follow.
These contacts connected to the lamps 18 by means of the wires 21 cause the lighting of said lamps and the illumination of arrows 2 or 3 depending on whether the steering wheel is turned to the left or to the right *
The driver taking position on the steering wheel and activating the ignition placed on it, lights the lamp relating to the arrow indicating the direction the car is going to take then, turning the steering wheel, the contact lever of the The toothed wheel cuts the current on the steering wheel contacts and continues to supply current to the lamp illuminating the arrow.
The driver can therefore turn his steering wheel several times and touch the contact strips without causing them to function. is lying.
The invention also provides for the control of the signals by means of a contact device fixed to the clutch pedal.
This control is effected by means of a sliding part, the two curved ends of which protrude beyond the surface of the pedal on each side. This part is influenced by a spring which keeps it in the middle position. By acting with the foot either to the right or to the left, one causes the displacement of this sliding part which, by means of suitable contacts, causes the lighting of the signal lamps.
It is understood that the components described can be varied at will without changing the very principle of the invention in any way.
