<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"Detachable wire shelving mud attached and driven by bolts."
Detachable wire spoked wheels of known types consist of a relatively elongated hub, a rim / and wire spokes arranged between the hub and the rim / so as to be able to withstand both driving and braking forces and side impact. These known wheels are generally fixed to the axle of the vehicle by clamping the hub between a stop, fitted on the axle and on which the hub rests towards one end and xxxxx an axial nut placed at the end of the axle and pushing on the other end of the hub.
This method of tightening the hub contributes to increasing the fatigue of this component to which the drive and freight forces are already transmitted.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
as well as xx the lateral choices: in fact, the hub is clamped between the axle stop and the nut and this compression work tends to cause the hub to deform and bend between the two support points extremes.
The removable wheel which is the subject of the present invention is formed of a part of large diameter or pulley .prresenting a flange directed towards the axis of the wheel and of a part of small diameter. forming a sleeve and having a flange extending away from the axis of the wheel, these two flanges pressing against each other and being attached together by means of

bolts or fingers for fixing and driving on the permanent hub permanently mounted on the axle.
These two flanges can moreover be combined into a single plate so that the pulley, the sleeve and the plate constituting the hub form a single part. question

This arrangement also makes it possible to obtain a more compact construction, to reduce the bulkiness of the ends of the axles of the vehicle, to ensure a better seal for the whole of the wheel and to make the median plane of the tire pass more near the rocket attachment point, which reduces the risk of

In order to better understand the invention, the accompanying drawing shows a known type of removable wheel with metal spokes and by way of example / two for- .; execution measures of the wheel being invented:

EMI3.2
permanent 2 permanently fixed to the axle 3 of the vehicle / so as to allow the installation or removal of the wheel, a rim 4 is front to support the tire 5 / and a wire shelving system metal arranged between the rim 4 and the hub 1.
Wheels of this type 183, no longer in use, feature a racking system known as triple spoke, in which two sets of spokes 6 and 7 serve substantially to support the forces from driving or braking. , while the third series of spokes 8 is strongly inclined from the rim 4 outwards, xxxxx the direction of the axis / in order to absorb the side impacts which are exerted more violently by the outside inside. Generally speaking, wheels of this type
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
are fixed to the permanent hub 2 by means of an axial nut 9 which acts at the outer end of the hub 1.
This nut 9 causes the part of the hub 1 between the nut 9 and the bearing surface 10 of the hub 1 to work on the hub 2 by compression; when the tightening of this nut is very energetic, this compression tends to cause the deformation of this part of the hub between points 9 and 10, all the more so as this part of the hub most often exhibits curvatures which contribute to initiate this deformation.
In the embodiment of the wheel according to the invention shown in FIG. 2, the hub of the wheel comprises a part of large diameter or pouffe, 11, having a flange 12 directed towards the axis of the wheel, and a part of small diameter forming a sleeve, 13, and having a flange 14 deviates from the axis of the wheel. These flanges 13 and 14 press against each other and are attached together on the permanent hub 2, by means of bolts 15 or fixing and driving fingers. These bolts 15 are preferably distributed along a circumference coneentric to the axis of the wheel.
This means of fixing the wheel replaces the method of fixing by the nut 0 of FIG. 1. The other parts of the wheel are the same as in fig? 1, or a rim 4, a tire 5, two sets of spokes 6 and 7 to support the driving and braking forces, and attached to the rim 4 and to the pulley 11, and a series of spokes 8 attached to rim 4 and sleeve 13.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The sleeve 13 can be lengthened so as to shift as far as possible out of the plane of the rim 4 the attachment points of the spokes 8 on the sleeve 13, in order to more effectively absorb side impacts. The permanent hub 2 may have an annular bearing surface 16 against which the flanges 12 and 14. This fastening system by bolts 15 has the effect of completely eliminating the tendency to deformation exerted by the nut 9 of the wheel shown in FIG. 1. The bolts 15 can be tightened as strongly as one wishes, this tightening will have no other effect than to apply the wheel more firmly against the seat 16 of the hub 2, but no part of the wheel will be compromised. by this tightening.
In order to allow easy assembly and disassembly of the wheel by simply removing the nuts 17 from the bolts 15, these bolts 15 are permanently fixed to the bearing surface 16 by means of the shoulders 18 and the nuts 19. The bolts thus remain in place at all times and do not risk being lost. ' The locations of the bolts 15 should be chosen taking into account the position of the spokes 8 in order to allow easy passage between these spokes if necessary for tightening the nuts 17.
As shown in fig. 2, the part of large idle pulley diameter 11 may have a larger diameter than the brake drum 20, so that this pulley 11 can come into place all around the brake drum; it follows that the rim 4 will be no tablemen t closer to the longitudi-
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
end of the vehicle and that the track of the vehicle can therefore be significantly reduced. This arrangement of the pulley 11 around the brake drum makes it possible to obtain a more compact construction and ensures better sealing against mud and dust.
To complete the wheel from an aesthetic point of view and with a view to sealing, we. can fit a plug 21 on the outer end of the sleeve 13.
In the embodiment of fig 3; the flanges 12 and 14 of the pin 2 are merged into a single plate 22 integral with the pulley 11 and the sleeve 13: the hub of the wheel is therefore formed in a single piece in this example. In addition, the pulley 11 serves not only as a fixing member for the spokes 6 and 7, but also xxxxxxxt as a brake drum.
The invention is obviously not limited to the examples described above and any modifications based on the principles set forth come within the scope of this invention.
