Technical field of the invention

The present invention relates to an oral spray comprising dry plant extracts, bud macerates, vitamins and essential oils.

This oral spray is used to treat or relieve symptoms related to stress, anxiety and nervousness. This spray also stimulates relaxation.

Background of the state of the art

For many years, the pharmaceutical industry has been looking for compositions in the form of oral sprays, generally of synthetic origin containing alcohol, preservatives or sugar, making it possible to treat or relieve symptoms linked to stress and to nervousness.

Such synthetic compositions cause undesirable side effects.

The document entitled “Air spray with Essential Oils”, publicly accessible on

MINTEL, March 11, 2021, from the company Laboratoire Puressentiel under the heading “Rest & Relax” refers to a spray to “provide relaxation, rest and soothe everyday stress”.

The document entitled “Good evening Herb & Fruit Tea”, publicly available on

MINTEL, January 1, 2015, from the company “Merkur Warenhandels”, refers to a tea “to forget everyday stress”.

The document entitled “Management of stress at the pharmacy during the COVID-19 period” from Justine Auga-Bascou, publicly available on March 23, 2022 on the internet

The American patent application published under number US 2005/053558 A1, from Arthur Zuckerman, on March 10, 2005, describes a toothpaste for a sleep application.

Object of the invention

The present invention aims to solve these problems. To this end, the inventors began research to develop an oral spray to treat said health problems, based on ingredients of purely natural origin, preferably without alcohol, without preservatives and without sugar.

Brief description of the invention

The invention relates to a water-based oral spray, comprising: - dry plant extracts, - bud macerates, - vitamins, and - essential oils.

The spray does not contain alcohol.

Preferably, the spray does not contain sugars or preservatives.

The invention, as well as its preferred modes of application, are described in the appended dependent claims.

Other preferred embodiments and advantages of the invention are described in the following description.

Detailed description of the invention

The present invention relates to a water-based oral spray containing four types of ingredients: a) dry plant extracts; b) bud macerates; c) vitamins; d) essential oils.

More in particular, the oral spray according to the invention is characterized in that: a) the dry plant extracts comprise: - a dry extract of Rhodiola roots, and/or

3 BE2022/0052 - a dry extract of Poppy petals, and/or - a dry extract of Ginseng roots, b) the bud macerates include: - a macerate of Blackcurrant buds, and/or - a macerate of buds of oak, c) the vitamins include: - vitamin B3, and/or - vitamin B12, d) the essential oils include: - an essential oil of Marjoram with shells, and/or - an essential oil of citrus fruits chosen from mandarin , grapefruit, orange and/or lemon.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the oral spray comprises each of the ingredients cited above.

According to a more preferred embodiment of the invention, the oral spray according to the invention further comprises one or more of the following ingredients: - a sweetening agent; - an acidifying agent.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the oral spray comprises: - steviol glycoside as a sweetening or sweetening agent, and/or - concentrated lemon juice as an acidifying agent.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the oral spray comprises the following ingredients in the quantities indicated. - from 60 to 95%, preferably between 70 and 95%, water; - from 0.1 to 10%, preferably. between 0.1 to 0.5%, the dry extract of Rhodiola; - from 0.1 to 10%, preferably. between 0.5 to 2%, the dry extract of Poppy; - from 0.1 to 10%, preferably. between 0.1 to 0.5%, the dry extract of Ginseng; - from 0.1 to 5%, preferably. between 0.2 to 0.5%, blackcurrant bud macerate, - from 0.1 to 5%, pref. between 0.2 to 0.5%, oak bud macerate,

4 BE2022/0052 - from 0.01 to 5%, preferably between 0.1 to 0.5%, vitamin B3; - from 0.01 to 5%, preferably between 0.01 to 0.2%, vitamin B12; - from 0.01 to 5%, preferably between 0.01 to 0.2%, shell marjoram essential oil; - from 0.01 to 5%, preferably between 0.1 to 0.5%, green mandarin essential oil; - from 0.01 to 5%, preferably between 0.1 to 0.5%, sweet orange essential oil; - from 0.01 to 5%, preferably between 0.01 to 0.2%, lemon essential oil; - from 0.01 to 5%, preferably between 0.1 to 0.5%, grapefruit essential oil.

Then, according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, in the oral spray: - the plant extracts represent between 1 and 10%, preferably between 1 and 5% by weight of the spray; and/or - the bud macerates represent between 0.1 and 5%, preferably between 0.5 and 1% by weight of the spray; and/or - the vitamins represent between 0.01 and 1%, preferably between 0.1 and 0.5% by weight of the spray; and/or - essential oils represent between 0.01 and 2%, preferably between 0.1 and 1% by weight of the spray.

According to an even more preferred mode of the invention, the oral spray comprises: - concentrated lemon juice as an acidifying agent; - steviol glycoside as a sweetening agent or sweetener.

Incorporating the oral spray into a bottle for spraying

In order to be used as a spray, the aqueous solution which is the basis of the oral spray according to the invention, is included in a bottle, preferably made of glass, provided with a pump, comprising a push button, a nozzle and (preferably) a hood.

The bottle has a simple pump with a tube dipping into the aqueous solution and the user sprays the aqueous solution into the mouth via a spray.

The pump allows the aqueous solution to rise via the dip tube and releases the solution in the form of a spray.

The aqueous solution of the spray according to the invention can be included in a bottle with a push button.

Preferably such a bottle is made of glass, and its capacity is between 15 and 30 ml, more preferably 20 ml. 5 Such a bottle can be fitted with a pump.

Use of the oral spray:

The oral spray according to the invention can be used to treat or relieve symptoms linked to stress, anxiety and/or nervousness.

The oral spray according to the invention can also be used to stimulate relaxation.

For this purpose, it is recommended to use between two and five, preferably three mouth sprays between two and five, preferably three times a day.

According to a more preferred embodiment of the invention, the oral sprays comprise a daily dose of between 1 and 3 ml of the oral spray.

Detailed description of some ingredients of the oral spray according to the invention:

Poppy dry extract

The poppy (Papaver rhoeas) is a herbaceous plant that belongs to the Papaveraceae family.

Poppy helps you fall asleep and helps fight various sleep disorders in a natural way. Poppy extract is able to act against stress, anxiety, nervousness, agitation.

Rhodiola dry extract:

Rhodiola (Rosea L.) is an adaptogenic plant that improves the body's resistance against nervousness and stress.

Ginseng dry extract:

Ginseng is a perennial plant that belongs to the genus Panax of the family

6 BE2022/0052 of Araliaceae. The root of ginseng is renowned for its pharmaceutical properties and a dry extract is used as such in the aqueous solution according to the invention.

Blackcurrant and Oak bud macerate:

The aqueous solution of the oral spray according to the invention also comprises two macerates.

Such a macerate is the result of a process which consists of macerating plants to extract the active ingredients. The technique consists of “infusing” a part of a fresh or dry plant (flowers, leaves, seeds, roots, etc.) in a water/ethano! organic/glycerin mixture at room temperature for a given time (on average one month) .

During this maceration, the active ingredients of the plant are therefore diffused into the mixture of solvents to provide it with complementary properties.

This maceration process is applied on the one hand to blackcurrant buds, and on the other hand to oak buds.

The results of these two processes are then incorporated into the aqueous solution of the oral spray according to the invention.

Vitamin B3:

Vitamin B3 (CeHsNO2) is a water-soluble vitamin which corresponds to two molecules: niacin (nicotinic acid) and its amide, nicotinamide, sometimes called niacinamide. It is also called vitamin PP for preventive pellagra because a deficiency in this vitamin is responsible for pellagra.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12, also called cobalamin, is a water-soluble vitamin, essential for the normal functioning of the brain (it participates in the synthesis of neurotransmitters, of the nervous system (it is essential for maintaining the integrity of the nervous system and particularly of the sheath of myelin which protects the nerves and optimizes their functioning) and the formation of blood. It exists in several forms belonging to the cobalamin family. Cobalamins have a chemical structure close to heme but the central iron atom is replaced by a cobalt atom, hence their name.

Essential oil :

For the purposes of the present invention, essential oil means: a volatile essence extracted from aromatic plants or organs of this plant by distillation by steam distillation.

Marjoram essential oil with shells:

Marjoram (Origanum majorana) is an annual or biennial plant measuring sixty centimeters, from the Lamiaceae family and native to the eastern Mediterranean basin.

Very renowned for its calming properties, Marjoram essential oil is used to relieve stress and anxiety and regulate sleep disorders. The botanical name is Origanum majorana. The part of the plant extracted: aerial parts. It is obtained by complete distillation by steam distillation.

Mandarin essential oil (green):

Green Mandarin is used for relaxation and relaxation. Soothing, it relieves the mind and facilitates sleep. The botanical name is Citrus reticulata Blanco. Part of the plant extracted: Pericarps of the fruit (zest) still green. It is obtained by cold expression then centrifugation.

Steviol glycosides:

Steviol glycosides are the chemical compounds responsible for the sweet taste of the leaves of the South American plant Stevia rebaudiana and the main ingredients of many sweeteners marketed under the generic name stevia and several trade names.

Spray according to claim 1, not containing sugars or preservatives. 3. Spray according to any one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that: a) the dry plant extracts comprise: - a dry extract of Rhodiola roots, and/or - a dry extract of Poppy petals, and /or - a dry extract of Ginseng roots b) the bud macerates include: - a macerate of Blackcurrant buds, and/or - a macerate of oak buds c) the vitamins include: - vitamin B3, and/or - vitamin B12 d) essential oils include: - an essential oil of Marjoram with shells, and/or - an essential oil of citrus fruits chosen from mandarin, grapefruit, orange and/or lemon. 4. Spray according to claim 3, characterized in that it comprises each of the ingredients listed in said claim. 5. Spray according to claim 3 or 4, characterized in that it further comprises one or more of the following ingredients: - a sweetening agent; - an acidifying agent. 6. Spray according to any one of claims 3 to 5, characterized in that it comprises the following ingredients in the following quantities: - from 60 to 95%, preferably. between 70 and 95%, water, - from 0.1 to 10%, preferably. between 0.1 to 0.5%, the dry extract of Rhodiola; - from 0.1 to 10%, preferably. between 0.5 to 2%, dry poppy extract, - from 0.1 to 10%, preferably. between 0.1 to 0.5%, the dry extract of Ginseng; - from 0.1 to 5%, preferably. between 0.2 to 0.5%, blackcurrant bud macerate, - from 0.1 to 5%, pref. between 0.2 to 0.5%, oak bud macerate, - from 0.01 to 5%, pref. between 0.1 to 0.5%, vitamin B3; - from 0.01 to 5%, preferably. between 0.01 to 0.2%, vitamin B12; - from 0.01 to 5%, preferably. between 0.01 to 0.2%, shell marjoram essential oil; - from 0.01 to 5%, preferably between 0.1 to 0.5%, green mandarin essential oil; - from 0.01 to 5%, preferably between 0.1 to 0.5%, |’ sweet orange essential oil; - from 0.01 to 5%, preferably. between 0.01 to 0.2%, lemon essential oil; - from 0.01 to 5%, preferably. between 0.1 to 0.5%, grapefruit essential oil. 7. Spray according to any one of the preceding claims characterized in that: - the plant extracts represent between! and 10%, preferably between 1 and 5% by weight of the spray; and/or - the bud macerates represent between 0.1 and 5%, preferably between 0.5 and 1% by weight of the spray; and/or - the vitamins represent between 0.01 and 1%, preferably between 0.1 and 0.5% by weight of the spray; and/or - essential oils represent between 0.01 and 2%, preferably between 0.1 and 1% by weight of the spray. 8. Spray according to claim 7, characterized in that it comprises: - concentrated lemon juice as an acidifying agent; - steviol glycoside as a sweetening agent or sweetener. 9. Spray according to any one of claims 1 to 8 for its use to treat or relieve symptoms linked to stress and nervousness and/or to stimulate relaxation. 10. Spray according to claim 9, for its use to treat or relieve symptoms linked to stress and nervousness and/or to stimulate relaxation, comprising between two and five, preferably three, mouth sprays between two and five, of preferably three times a day. 11. Spray according to any one of claims 9 or 10, for its use to treat or relieve symptoms linked to stress and nervousness and/or to stimulate relaxation, comprising oral sprays comprising a daily dose between 1 and 3 ml of the oral spray.
