<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

SHELL IN HOMOGENEOUS MATERIAL TO BE PLACED ON CAR SEAT,
SLIGHTLY BOMBED IN THE HOLLOW FOR COMFORT, INCLUDING
STIFFNESS OFFERS REACTIONS OF STRENGTHS SUITABLE FOR AVOIDING BACK PAIN The shell of the invention could be assimilated to a bottom of a rigid chair. The inventive character lies in a new application of a known means: a chair bottom used not as a constituent element of a chair, but as an applied on an upholstered seat to stiffen the surface.
Doctors recommend that people who suffer from the back sleep on "hard", mattresses that sink are to be avoided, as not giving a clear reaction to a change of position and balance.
The object of the invention is to extend this concept to car seats, by remedying their molesse. This is all the more unfavorable as changes in weight or balance occur constantly due to the imperfections of the road.
Allowing the users of a car to sit on a hard surface, while preserving their comfort and retaining the interior arrangements of their vehicle, such is the object of the shell of the invention. This is made of a homogeneous material, in one piece.
A necessary condition for obtaining comfort is that the shell has a slightly domed hollow shape. This condition is sufficient for a flexible covering to be superfluous, with the advantage that the corresponding risk of damping force reactions and the back pain that may result is eliminated. The absence of covering, that is to say the homogeneous nature of the constituent material, presents
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
several advantages: an additional price avoided, no worry of cleaning or replacement, and the possibility of a smooth surface: if the surface is smooth, it follows that the user who seeks his place on the seat is helped by the possibility of turning and sliding, while the shell remains stationary because of the weight it supports.
We know of other wall lights for car seats, in particular those which are designed exclusively for the same purpose, that of facilitating, for the user, its installation in the vehicle and its exit, but obtain it by another way.
They have a padded turntable, centered in the center of a surface that rests on the seat. The user sits, being oriented outward first, then turns while sitting on the tray until facing forward.
To exit, it turns beforehand, in the other direction.
The shell of the invention can be produced in various rigid materials, provided that it exhibits the abovementioned hollow bulge: wood, laminated wood, plasticized wood, metal, metal alloys, plastics. The latter are available in many colors, which allows a choice based on harmonization with the tone of the upholstery of the car seats. Transparent materials are, in this respect, automatically in harmony.
It is particularly advantageous to use sheets of thermoplastic material such as polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, since these can be hot formed, which makes it possible to avoid the expensive tooling which would require injection or l stamping. However, these last 2 techniques can be justified when large series allow the depreciation of the tools.
It is advantageous, for the same reasons, to use hardener resins of the family of polyesters to be coated,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
with impregnation of reinforcing fibers. The coating is made on a form or mold in the absence of mechanical stress. The mold, light, is therefore not expensive. Before coating the resin, it is recommended to fill its useful surface with a special liquid which, when dried, becomes a kind of skin. This is favorable for demolding, and protects the surface of the mold.
