<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"Refrigerant container."
The invention relates to a refrigerating container for food comprising a cover covering the entire container and at least one refrigerating element.
Refrigerant containers known for keeping food fresh generally have an internal template in which the food to be kept cool and one or more refrigerating elements are arranged. A cover covers the entire internal template of the container. The internal template is large enough to carry a large amount of food. When the user wishes to remove one of the refrigerated foods, he removes the lid, removes the desired food (s) and puts the lid back on.
A disadvantage of known containers is that, during the time that the lid is removed, a substantial amount of ambient air enters the internal template of the container, which increases the temperature inside the container and therefore that of the food which therein are maintained. In addition, the refrigerating elements are arranged randomly so that certain foods which are near one of the refrigerating elements are better kept cool than others that are more distant.
Another disadvantage of known containers is that they are not suitable for transporting a
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
small amount of food or small food, especially cans or small bottles containing a drink.
The object of the invention is to provide a cooling container which is better suited for keeping cans or small bottles containing a drink cool.
For this purpose, the container according to the invention is characterized in that its internal template comprises at least two compartments and a predetermined location for the cooling element, the location being predetermined so that the cooling element is in direct contact with the compartments which it serves, and each compartment being designed and dimensioned so as to conform substantially to the shape of at least one can or small bottle containing a drink.
By providing compartments dimensioned so as to substantially match the shape of at least one can or small bottle containing a drink as well as said location for the predetermined cooling element, a limited volume of air is present in the compartments and a better distribution cold from the cooling element to the cans or bottles is produced. Thus, the container is more suitable for keeping cans or small bottles cool.
According to a first preferred embodiment of the container according to the invention, each compartment is provided with an individual cover. When removing a can or bottle, the ambient air only enters the compartment from which a can is removed. By this limited entry of ambient air into the container, the heating of the container is limited.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
This therefore keeps the cans or bottles cool longer.
According to a second preferred embodiment of the container according to the invention, each of said individual lids is provided with a closure means arranged to open a drink can. This allows you to open a drink can and drink the contents without having to remove the can from the container. In addition, a minimal amount of ambient air enters the container.
According to a third preferred embodiment, the container according to the invention comprises a cavity at said location for the cooling element.
In this way, the cooling element remains well housed in its predetermined location.
According to a fourth preferred embodiment of the container according to the invention, the internal template comprises at least two modules arranged to be connected. This makes it possible to form a set of modular containers.
The invention will now be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is a plan view of a container according to the invention, in which cans containing a drink are arranged, FIG. 2 is a vertical section along line II-II of Figure 1, and Figure 3 is a plan view of a preferred embodiment of the container according to the invention, comprising several modules.
FIG. 1 illustrates an internal template 1 of a container according to the invention. This template includes a
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
first and second compartment 2 and 3, respectively, which each substantially match the shape of a can or small bottle containing a drink.
The internal template 1 further comprises a location 4 in which a cooling element is housed. To guarantee a better distribution of the cold, the location 4 is determined so that the cooling element is in direct contact with the compartments that it serves.
As illustrated in FIG. 1, the compartments are configured so that they each comprise a substantially cylindrical wall, formed by the internal template and the cooling element in contact with the internal template. The diameter is barely greater than that of a can or small bottle. Preferably, the distance between the can or small bottle and the walls is less than 1 cm.
Consequently, when a can or small bottle of drink is placed in a compartment, it is well wrapped in its compartment and a limited volume of air is present in the compartment between the can or small bottle and the walls. To keep drinks cool, it suffices that the cooling element draws heat from the air volume present in the container, in particular in the compartment. Since this volume of air is limited, the refrigerating element will not suffer great loss of cold. Therefore, the can or small bottle will be kept cool longer.
If the temperature of the can or small bottle is higher than the air surrounding it, the heat of the can or small bottle is taken up by the air between the can or
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
small bottle, which in turn is taken up by the cooling element.
Given the reduced air volume in the compartments, a limited amount of ambient air will enter the compartments, when the container is opened, and will allow the cooling element to take up this little heat without it being subjected to a great loss of cold.
Given the configuration in compartments, the heat exchange takes place compartment by compartment, so that there is little heat transfer from one compartment to another.
To keep the cooling element in place, the container includes a cavity 7, as illustrated in FIG. 2, at said location for the cooling element.
A cover 5 (partially shown) covers the entire container. The container is provided with handles, designed to transport the container directly or by means of a strap (not shown), fixed to these handles.
To further limit the entry of ambient air into the container during withdrawal of a drink, the container includes individual lids 8 and 9, each covering a single compartment.
To allow a can to be opened by drinking its contents without having to remove the can from the container according to the invention, the individual lids each comprise a closure means 10, for example in the form of a tongue, intended to open a can of drink.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
FIG. 3 illustrates a preferred embodiment of the container according to the invention, which makes it possible to connect several container modules and thus form an assembly, the containers are each provided with rails 11 and sliding elements 12, the sliding elements 12 being intended to take hold in a rail 11 of an adjacent container.
The dimensions of the internal compartments could match, in an alternative embodiment, the shape of several superimposed cans.
The internal template may include, if necessary, more than two compartments. The container can be fitted with a single lid. The location for the cooling element can be delimited by guide rails instead of providing a cavity.
The container can comprise modules, arranged to be fitted vertically. If necessary, these modules can have different heights, to allow the container compartments to be adapted to be sized for 50 cl cans instead of 33 cl cans.
