<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
stortbak 1 rusten.
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

DISPENSING SYSTEM OF RINSING WATER FROM A DUMPER
The present invention relates to a dosing system of rinsing water from a cistern provided with a discharge opening, a closing cap and an operating mechanism of the closing cap.
More specifically, it relates to an improvement in the flushing arrangement of a toilet or w. c. to reduce water consumption. It is designed to reduce the amount of rinse water used and to adapt it as required. It is indeed known that flushing devices of toilets and w. c.consume a significant amount of water.
Such rinsing devices are often used in their full capacity where a much smaller amount of rinsing water would suffice.
It has been calculated that one can save up to 100 hectoliters of water per person per year, by avoiding water wastage when flushing water.
Belgian patent no. 877,662 discloses a cistern saving system that comprises means by which one can choose from at least two different flushing volumes.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
However, such a system is not satisfactory because the pull-out mechanism is usually operated involuntarily without first turning the pull knob to a specific position that allows you to choose between two different flush volumes. Once the pull button has been operated, it is usually too late to quickly adjust the amount of water.
The current flushing systems usually consist of two parts: - an upper part which is pulled up by means of a pull button and which immediately falls down as soon as the pull button is released, and - a lower part which is pulled up by means of the above mentioned upper part and it floats as long as water is present in the cistern.
The top part consists of a tubular pull rod at the top with a fixed pull button. The pull rod serves as a guide for the top section. The lower part includes a sliding internal tie rod and a sealing cap attached to the lower end of the tie rod. The drawbar is connected to the drawbar by a stop. The closure cap is usually formed from a bell-shaped gum seal, the smooth edges of which rest on the bottom of the cistern.
A variant consists of the pull rod falling down through the sealing cap with its floating body.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The technical problem is to develop accessories that can be fitted to any existing dosing device to limit the water consumption of cisterns to actual needs without selecting a specific amount of rinse water in advance. For this purpose, a dosing device as proposed in the first paragraph of this memorandum is equipped with means that interrupt the rinse as soon as the pull button is released.
According to a first embodiment of the invention, the above-mentioned means have a ballast which increases the weight of the sealing cap. The ballast is placed on the tie-rod of the cap to counteract the unsinkability of the cap and accelerate the hermetic sealing of the discharge opening once the cap is pulled up and released.
By applying the ballast, the floating power of the lower part of the flushing system with the sealing cap is canceled and the whole formed by the pull rod and sealing cap behaves as a fixed rod from the sealing cap to the pull knob.
This innovation is especially interesting because it can be built into any existing system.
These features and other features and peculiarities of the invention will be further explained hereinafter in the description of a specific embodiment of the invention,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
which is given merely as an illustrative and non-limiting example, with reference to the attached drawings, in which: - figure 1 is a transverse section of the cistern equipped with a dosing device according to the invention, in closed position of the discharge opening; Figure 2 is the same section as in Figure 1 shown in a rinsing position. figure 3 shows a similar view as above of a second embodiment of a dosing device according to the invention.
In these figures, like reference characters indicate like or like parts.
In figure 1 is a classic cistern 1 for a w. c. shown. The bottom 2 of the cistern 1 comprises a discharge opening 3 and a sealing cap 4. The operating mechanism 5 of the dosing device is usually an extraction mechanism consisting of a pulling knob 6, a pulling rod 7, a guide 9 for the pulling rod 7, a stop 11 and the sealing cap 4.
The closing cap 4 can be pulled up by means of the pull rod 7 and pull knob 6. In a special embodiment, the closing cap 4 is a bell-shaped rubber seal, the smooth edges of which on the bottom 2 of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
rest cistern 1. Due to the hydrostatic pressure of the water, the sealing cap provides a watertight closure of the discharge opening 3, as shown in figure 1.
When the sealing cap is pulled out using the pull knob 6 and the pull rod 7, in a classic cistern 1, the bell-shaped sealing cap 4 tends to float in the water as the rinse water drains via the discharge path. Due to the air present in the top part of the clock, the sealing cap is currently lighter than water. The closure cap remains floating in the water, as long as water is present in the cistern 1 so that the entire volume of the cistern 1 is completely emptied (figure 2).
The equipment consists in providing the dosing device with means which close the discharge opening 3 as soon as the pull button 6 is released.
In a first embodiment, the peel-off stop is a bell-shaped gum seal. The weight of the closure cap 4 is increased by means of a ballast 8, which is placed on the pull rod 7 of the closure cap 4, in order to counter the unsinkability of the closure cap 4.
As a result, the closing cap 4 drops down and covers the discharge opening 3 as soon as the pull button 6 is released. The flushing water flow rate can be determined with each flushing depending on the duration of the time interval during which the pull knob is operated.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
In a second embodiment, the drawbar of the dosing system is provided with a piston 12 which moves up and down along a cylindrical chamber 14. The top portion of the chamber is narrow and exerts a certain friction on the piston 12. The bottom portion of the chamber 14 widens and prevents friction. The piston 12 is weighted by a ballast 8 which forms one piece with the piston 12. When the pull rod is operated, the sealing cap is pulled up and the piston 12 is lifted. When the pull rod 7 is released, the piston slowly descends by gravity to the location of the widening. From the place where the cylindrical chamber 14 widens, the piston 12 no longer experiences friction. The piston 12 falls down freely and also lowers the closing cap 4 with the pull rod 7.
The duration during which the piston and thus also the closing cap 4 is held up can be determined by providing an opening 13 through the piston or by providing a clearance between the piston and the chamber (figure 3).
