<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Met het inzicht de kenmerken volgens de uitvinding beter aan te tonen, zijn hierna als voorbeelden zonder enig beperkend karakter enkele voorkeurdragende uitvoeringsvormen beschreven, met verwijzing naar de bijgaande tekeningen, waarin : figuren 1 en 2 twee opeenvolgende stappen weergeven uit her vervaardigingsproces van een betonelement volgens de uitvinding ; figuur 3 het betonelement weergeeft dat na de voornoemde twee stappen wordt bekomen ; figuur 4 op een grotere schaal een doorsnede weergeeft volgens lijn IV-IV in figuur 3 ; figuur 5 het betonelement uit figuur 3. weergeeft tijdens het nabewerken ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
figuur 6 op grotere schaal een zieht weergeeft van het gedeelte dat in figuur 5 met F6 is aangeduid ; figuur 7 het voornoemde betonelement weergeeft in het eindstadium ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

Method and means for manufacturing a concrete element, and concrete element obtained thereby.
This invention relates to a method and means for manufacturing a concrete element, as well as to a concrete element obtained thereby.
More specifically, the present invention contemplates a method of finishing the surface of concrete elements, so that a more aesthetic appearance is obtained, such that figures and other images can be formed on the surface in an easy manner.
To this end, the invention relates to a method for manufacturing a concrete element, characterized in that it mainly consists of forming a concrete element from concrete, followed by finishing, on at least one side, of a part of the surface, wherein, when forming the concrete element forms a level difference on at least a part of the edge of the part to be finished, such that the part to be finished is elevated at least at this edge relative to the adjacent part.
Because the finishing operation takes place on a protruding part, a very sharp outline of the finishing surface can be obtained, regardless of which technique is used in finishing, without the need for a very precise positioning of the finishing tool.
In addition, arbitrary shapes can be given to the finished part, as this shape is no longer bound by positioning limitations
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
of the finishing tool, but only determined by the aforementioned edge.
Preferably, the concrete element is formed in such a way that the part of the surface in question to be processed is completely raised relative to the rest of this surface.
The means for implementing the aforementioned method mainly consist of, on the one hand, a mold with a countersink or recess in its wall, and on the other hand, at least one finishing machine.
The invention also relates to a concrete element manufactured according to the aforementioned method. In principle, the invention can be applied to concrete elements of any shape, such as slabs, beams or stones, but in the first place it is intended for the manufacture of concrete floor tiles.
With the insight to better demonstrate the features according to the invention, some preferred embodiments are described below as examples without any limitation, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: figures 1 and 2 show two successive steps of the manufacturing process of a concrete element according to the invention ; figure 3 represents the concrete element obtained after the aforementioned two steps; figure 4 shows on a larger scale a section according to line IV-IV in figure 3; figure 5 shows the concrete element from figure 3. during finishing;
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
figure 6 shows on a larger scale a view of the part indicated by F6 in figure 5; figure 7 represents the aforementioned concrete element in the final stage;
figure 8 represents a part of a concrete element, corresponding to figure 6, but for another embodiment; figure 9 represents another concrete element according to the invention.
The method according to the invention consists in that, as is shown successively in figures 1 to 7, first a concrete element 1 is formed from concrete 2, followed by finishing part 4 of the surface on at least one side 3, wherein, at forming the concrete element 1, a level difference H is formed on at least a part of the edge 5 of the part 4 to be post-processed, such that the part 4 to be post-processed is elevated at least at this edge 5 relative to the adjacent section 6.
Preferably, as shown in Figures 1 to 7, the part 4 of the surface to be processed is completely raised relative to the other part 6, such that the concrete element 1 has, as it were, a projection 7.
The forming of the concrete element 1 with the projection 7 preferably takes place in a production process. As shown in figure 1, this can be achieved by placing an amount of concrete 2 in a mold 8, which is provided with a recess 9, preferably in the bottom 10 of mold 8, and then the concrete 2 in the mold 8, for example by means of a pressing element 11 as shown in figure 2. Preferably
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
use is made of vibrated concrete, whereby the device is therefore provided with an appropriate vibrating mechanism 12.
Preferably, a projection 7 is provided in the form of an even elevation, such that, as shown in Figure 3, the top of the projection 7, in other words the surface of the aforementioned portion 4 is parallel to the remaining surface of the side 3.
As shown in detail in Figure 4, an upright side edge or substantially upright side edge is preferably formed on the projection 7. The level difference H over which the protrusion 7 elevates is preferably at least 0.5 mm and more preferably its value is between 0.5 and 3 mm, especially in the case of floor tiles.
Various techniques can be used for post-processing. In the example of figure 5, the surface of the part 4 is ground flat by means of a grinding stone 13.
According to the invention, any other finishing technique can also be used, such as hammering, for example point hammering, also called "bush hammer", blasting, etc. The aforementioned examples of post-processing take place after the concrete has hardened.
According to the invention, however, finishing operations can also be applied while the concrete is not yet fully cured, such as applying depressions.
It is clear from figures 5 and 6 that now fairly simple shapes and figures on the surface of the concrete element 1
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
can be realized by a finishing operation, these shapes and figures are very precisely aligned, but without the need for a precise adjustment of the tool, in this case the grinding stone 13, of the finishing machine. After all, in many cases the boundary of the aforementioned shape and figures is no longer determined by the location of the tool, but by the location where the raised part 4 is located.
During finishing, the surface of the part 6 can be used as a reference plane. As shown in figure 5, the concrete element 1 can be pressed for this purpose with the part 6 against stops 14 arranged thereto, for instance by means of pressing means 15.
Figure 5 shows a narrow sharpening stone 13, but it is clear that a sharpening stone can also be used which extends over the full width of the part 4.
Figure 7 shows the final product obtained.
Figure 8 shows in detail how the presence of the above-mentioned edge 5 provides a nice boundary of the finished part 4 of the surface of the concrete element 1 in the case that cavitations 16 are applied in the surface, for example by hammering or shine.
As shown in Figure 9, the aforementioned rim 5 and the portion 6 can also be formed by a local recess. In this way the advantages of the invention remain, namely a precise limitation. of section 4 without requiring a very precise setting of the finishing tool, while
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
it is nevertheless possible to provide sections 17 which are situated on the same level as section 4.
The invention also relates to means for realizing the aforementioned method, which, as mentioned in the introduction, consist in the combination of, on the one hand, a mold 8 with a countersink or recess 9 in its wall, and on the other hand, at least one finishing machine 18.
The invention also relates to a concrete element manufactured according to the aforementioned method. The invention is particularly suitable for the manufacture of concrete tiles.
As shown in Figure 7, the raised and post-processed portion 4 is preferably centrally located in the tile. This prevents water from collecting on the surface of the tile. Moreover, the stops 14 can then be positioned along the circumference of the concrete element 1.
However, it is clear that the invention is not limited to concrete elements 1 in which the part 6 is located on the periphery of the concrete element 1. For example, in the embodiment of Figure 7, the parts 4 and 6 can be interchanged.
The non-raised portion 6 is preferably left unworked, thereby creating a contrast.
It is clear that according to the invention a refined concrete product can be realized in a particularly economical manner.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
The present invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described as examples and shown in the figures, but such a method and means for manufacturing a concrete element, as well as the concrete element obtained thereby, can be realized in different variants without outside the scope of the invention as defined in the accompanying claims.
