Abstract

Un trajet de décharge de gaz entre les électrodes produit des points de lumière brillants aux orifices des tubes capillaires dans une région de la lampe à proximité de la fenêtre.An improved gas discharge lamp having (i) a cylindrical quartz shell with (ii) a magnesium fluoride window in the form of a circular flat disc essentially transparent to short wavelength light at one end of the shell cylindrical, (iii) two tungsten or molybdenum electrodes, each surrounded by a capillary tube and (iv) a partition in the envelope and between the electrodes surrounded by tubes, said partition defining in combination with the envelope a passage around each of the electrodes and its enveloping tube. A gas discharge path between the electrodes produces bright spots of light at the orifices of the capillary tubes in a region of the lamp near the window.
