<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Device for preheating and / or annealing metallic products obtained by continuous casting and, in particular, wires of large cross section I1 exist devices for preheating and / or annealing metallic products obtained by continuous casting and, in particular, wires, which are already known and whose contact and deflection rollers are driven from a common transmission point, for example, passing through mechanical gear ratios arranged in space, so that once the rotation relationship of the rollers contact and referral has been chosen, it is final and cannot be changed.
When the wire passing through the apparatus is heated, there is nevertheless an elongation of the wire from one roll to another, which can be quite different depending on the temperature level and the properties of the material. In the case of a copper wire, the aim is generally to reach, for annealing, a final temperature of approximately 500-550 ° C. and the increase in temperature occurring in the various heating zones as well as the elongation of the The resulting threads are compensated, at least approximately, by the design of the transmission.
A change in the required final temperature or the choice of a
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
other material for the wire give rise, however, to another elongation of the wire, so that the peripheral speed of the wire and, of the contact or return rollers no longer correspond. The wire is then either stretched in an unacceptable manner and often stresses to the point of causing it to break, or moves on the contact and return rollers with a more or less marked slip, which gives rise to an increase in the ripple of the wire and therefore an accentuation of the formation
EMI2.1
sparks.
This gives rise to a significant deterioration in the surface condition of the wire as well as to increased wear of the contact rollers and can also cause unacceptable difficulties due to sparks.
This is why the present invention has as an essential objective to propose a device of the type mentioned above, in which the wire is heated or annealed while being arranged as much as possible, with the least possible bending stress and without sliding in passing over the contact and return rollers. On the other hand, the construction of the device must allow easy adaptation to the most different applications and simplify the problems of control and maintenance.
This result is achieved by means of a device of this kind, having the characteristics mentioned.

The coupling product continues to process, hereinafter abbreviated as "wire" is designated by D. 11 enters the device in From and leaves it in Da. the wire first passes over the contact roller KR1 and leaves it after a half-turn, to then arrive on the return roller UR2. Then, the wire arrives at the contact roller KR3, then at the contact rolls KR4 and KRS. The wire D then passes over the extraction roller AR6 and finally arrives at the outlet of the wire Da.
Contact rollers KR1, KR3 and KR5 are arranged with a backward tilt on the chassis
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
of support 10, with their upper edges and their drive shafts such that they form, with the radius of the rollers perpendicular to the drive shaft concerned and with the vertical V, an angle DU 1 equal to approximately 10.
On the other hand, the contact roller KR4, the return roller UR2 as well as the extraction roller AR6 are arranged with an inclination of their upper edges towards the front-deviating from the vertical V and equal to the angle o (2. The size of the angles 0 (1 and 01 .. 2 depends essentially on the diameter and the width of the rollers.
Figure 2 shows all of the contact rollers, deflection and extraction aligned one after the other and according to the most favorable arrangement. A three-phase current transformer is designated by 7 and these different phases by R, S, T. Phase R is connected to the contact roller KR3 and phase T to the contact roller KR4, while phase S is connected to two rollers contact, namely the contact rollers KR1 and KR5. In this way, the annealing zones Gl, G2 and G3 are obtained in a manner known per se.
Figures 3 to 6 show the mechanical construction of the device of the present invention. The different contact rollers KR1, KR3, KR4 and KRS are mounted just like the extraction roller AR6 and the return roller UR2 - in block with their drive members 8 and the roller bearings 9 on the support frames 10 or 10a, which may have surfaces 11 and 12 having an appropriate inclination. The inclined surfaces 11 and 12 form, with the horizontal and the vertical V, angles α 1 and α 2, respectively, of approximately 10, as can be seen in Figures 5 and 6.
The transmission of electrical current from the transformer to the various contact rollers is ensured by the bus bars 13.
In principle, it would be possible to carry out the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
desired oblique arrangement of the rollers using only one form of support frame, provided that each support frame is mounted with a rotation of 1800. This would, however, to a large extent hinder the access possibilities on the side where the we control the machine.
To nevertheless allow access to the side of the machine where the control is located; while allowing to adjust or adapt the inclination of inclined surfaces
11 and 12, it is essential, in the context of the present invention, that the support frames 10 and 10a are made, at least, in two parts 23 and 24 and that these are connected to a pivot by an articulation 25 on their side facing the rollers KR1, UR2, KR3, KR4, KR5 and KR6 and are held in the desired position on the side of the support frame opposite the roller by at least one support element 26. The number of support elements 26 depends on the stresses expected.
The object of the present invention can be applied to the production of shiny yarns. In this case, it suffices simply (see FIG. 9) that the contact rollers KR4 and KR5 arranged obliquely, as well as the extraction roller AR6 are mounted in boxes which can be opened, while a protective gas is introduced. in the zone under gas protection by a pipe 15 penetrating into the bolt case 16 with protective gas, to then exit via the line 17. The case 18 serves as a cooling tank. This is connected by a pipe 19 to the bowl of the cooling tank 20, which contains the extraction roller AR6. Then, the finished wire D leaves the device according to the present invention.
The object of the present invention is of particular interest since the individual transmissions of the contact roller and the extraction roller allow extremely precise adjustment of
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
the tension existing in the wire and that the block construction makes it possible to mount the heating or annealing device either in left execution, or in right execution, that is to say that the wire can pass through the device
EMI6.1
either from the right side of the device to its left side, or vice versa. On the other hand, the treatment undergone by the wire spares it, owing to the fact that contact and return rollers of relatively large diameters are used and that they are arranged so that the wire is always bent only in the same direction.
Due to the fact that the wire passes in a straight line on the contact and deflection rollers arranged obliquely, no bending of the wire is necessary, so that the driving power required is relatively low. On the other hand, all the rollers are at the same height, so that no other control aids are required.
Finally, the device of the present invention is very easy to maintain, thanks to its open construction.
