Abstract

A material with good fire-protecting properties contains a set binder, optional fillers and at least one component that is decomposed by heat with consumption of energy. The material contains at least 5 % by weight ettringit and/or aluminium phosphate or mixtures thereof and may additionally contain calcium aluminium hydrate and/or calcium sulphate dihydrate. This material is produced by adding prefabricated ettringit to the mixture, or ettringit is formed in situ during setting. Aluminium phosphate and if desired calcium aluminium hydrate and/or calcium sulphate dihydrate are added to the mixture. Calcium aluminium hydrate and calcium sulphate dihydrate may also be formed during setting. Optimum fire resistance is obtained by adding synthetic xonotlite.
