Abstract

Alcohol compositions are perfect hand and skin care merchandise. They are powerful in opposition to an extensive variety of microorganisms. They also are capable of kill microorganisms quicker than different antimicrobial merchandise. The only problem with alcohol based sanitizers is due to other constituents present in the sanitizer. A more radical approach is reducing the synthetic ingredients present in sanitizer by incorporating natural extracts whose functionality is comparable with their synthetic ingredients. The main advantage of using natural source is that they are easily available, cheap and harmless compared to chemical products. In the prepared formulation, the alcohol was used along with oil extract to get better result. In this study the herbal extract based formulations were formulated which were used to reduce germs on hand and harmless to hand and alternative to synthetic drugs. This formulation is advanced hand sanitizer which has moisturizing properties; this is highly effective against surface microbes.

A Polyherbal Gel Composition For Preventing Ill Effect Of Sanitizers.
TECHNICAL FIELD
The invention relates to polyherbal liquid alcohol based skin sanitizing compositions that are formulated for repeated long term use. The present invention relates generally to improved formulation for the care, protection of skin. The compositions include a level of skin heath components to help and improve the skin health while also maintaining an acceptable skin feel and efficiency. The invention discloses a hand sanitizer containing natural compositions along with isopropyl alcohol for preventing skin from ill effect of sanitizer on long term use.
BACKGROUND
Skin, particularly palms had to be blanketed from bacterial pathogens as they may be the maximum uncovered part of the body. Proper hand care has lengthy been mentioned as a powerful manner of lowering the unfold of germs, diseases, and different contaminants. Hand washing is the only best powerful and price powerful way for warding off transmission of infectious sickness via way of means of hand. Typically, hand care has involved the washing of hands with soap followed by rinsing the hands with water to remove the soap. However, antimicrobial products that do not require a water rinse because they evaporate off hand. Such products are therefore known to be rinse less hand sanitizers. They have become popular in recent years as another way of sanitizing hands. When such a rinseless hand sanitizer is used, the user applies the product to his/her hands and rubs the hands together so that the product eventually either evaporates or is absorbed into the skin. These antimicrobial products come in the form of lotions, liquid, gels, and foams. Antimicrobial agents that may be used in such products include alcohols, trichlorohydroxy diphenyl ether (Triclosan), parachlorometaxylenol (PCMX), and quaternaryammonium compounds. Among all usable chemicals, ethanol, isopropanol and n-propanol (in the order of increasing efficacy) are the strongest and fasten agents. The most commonly used concentrations alcohol in hand sanitizer formulation ethanol (60-90%), isopropanol (70-80%) and n-propanol (60-70%)
There are many possible advantages of using natural products as antimicrobial compounds, such as fewer adverse effects, better patient tolerance, relatively inexpensive, renewability and biodegradability. Bearing in mind this requirement; an endeavor has been made to display classical collected works for the herbs with antimicrobial properties to formulate low cost polyherbal hand sanitizer from which are known to have antimicrobial activities against disease caused by microorganism. The chemical analysis of different parts of these plants has been reported. as Citrus (Lime) juice, Azadirtia indica (neem),Coleus vettiveroids (hrivera) root powder, coriander(dhania),khus, water and ethanol extracts of Aloe barbaddenis. It was found to contain Flavonoids, phenolic compounds, and proanthocyanidins. Studies revealed that the extracts of root of neem and coriander have been found effective in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Beta-haemolytic streptococci, Escherichiacoli and Neisseria gonorrhoeae).
Thus, in the present invention we formulated a polyherbal hand sanitizer including combination of different concentration of plant extracts such as Citrus (Lime) juice, Azadirtia indica (neem),Coleus vettiveroids (hrivera) root powder, coriander(dhania),khus, water and ethanol extracts of Aloe barbaddenis as they possess different medicinal and chemical properties useful for formulating p o 1 y herbal sanitizer.

The reference hand sanitizer taken from market which includes ingredients such as carbomer, aqua deem, ethanol (60%) and fragrance showed antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus only with zone of inhibition shows 6+1mm and fails to inhibit bacterial growth for most strains of microorganisms when compared to that for the formulated hand sanitizer in this project. This proves that the formulated polyherbal hand sanitizer is preferable and effective. Hand sanitizer having 20-25% plant extracts and 60% isopropanol alcohol was found to be more effective with its zone of inhibition shows 23.332.08mm, when compared to 60%isopropanol alcohol which has 14+1mm zone of inhibition. This shows that polyherbal extract is more effective than isopropanol which has antimicrobial properties.
Our formulation novelty lies in synergistic effects of various herbs used in preparation, for instance they are rich source of linolenic acid, which provide the anti oxidant effect along with skin smoothening benefit.
The alcohols have excellent, rapid (within seconds) germicidal activity against vegetative bacteria, fungi, and many viruses and antibacterial activity is based on protein denaturation of microorganisms. Alcohol sanitizers are highly effective against mycobacteria (the bacteria most resistant to the disinfection process) and multidrug-resistant pathogens. Alcohol rubs are about 100 times more efficient against viruses than any form of hand washing. Sanitizer proposes several advantages over non-alcoholic hand disinfectants, rubbing sanitizers onto both hands and until it completely evaporates usually requires only 15 to 30 seconds. Whereas vigorous friction, rinsing with water, and drying with a towel are not needed like hand disinfectants or soaps
