Description
FIG. 1
[0001] 1. Field of the Invention
[0002] The invention relates to the technical field of biological treatment of sewage, specifically relating to a method to treat domestic and agricultural sewage by cultivating Ficus microcarpa.
[0003] 2. Description of the Related Art
[0004] The domestic and agricultural sewage from rural area are rich in substance such as
nitrogen, phosphorus and organic pollutants, prone to cause water eutrophication if not going
through nitrogen and phosphorus removal process. Especially in waterhead area and reservoir
area, the discharge of sewage in towns will pose tremendous stress on the water environment
in downstream rivers. Discharge of domestic agricultural sewage from rural area is mostly
decentralized and the present treatment infrastructure is not perfect enough. For this reason, it
is of vital importance to seek a higher efficient and lower energy-consuming sewage
treatment method.
[0005] At present, sewage treatment technology in cities include activated sludge method and biofilm process which are not suitable for sewage treatment in rural area as it has low removal rate of pollutants such as nitrogen and phosphorus while bioecological method is a relative safe and effective method in domestic and agricultural sewage treatment. The bioecological treatment method is to remove nitrogen, phosphorus and other contaminants in water via plant absorption, microbial redox, microfauna prey, etc. The method of using plants to remove pollutants such as nitrogen, phosphorus and other pollutants in the water body has broad application prospect; however, the biological treatment method is badly affected by the growth of plants, thus having large seasonal fluctuation; some factors can exert direct influence on the sewage treatment efficiency; for instance, the annual plant dies in winter while the perennial plant withers and grows slowly in autumn and winter; some plants are sun-loving while some plants are shade-loving. Therefore, given the limitations of growth of plants, suitable plants need to be developed to be applied in different environmental conditions.
[0006] The invention provides an application method to treat domestic and agricultural sewage by cultivating Ficus microcarpa.
[0007] A method to treat domestic and agricultural sewage by cultivating Ficus microcarpa. According to the method, the Ficus microcarpa is cut and transplanted in a sewage eco-treatment device for cultivation, which is combined with the dwarf plants and microorganisms in ecological purification system to remove the nitrogen, phosphorus and organic pollutants in domestic and agricultural sewage.
[0008] In this method, said cutting, transplanting and cultivating in the sewage eco-treatment device comprising following steps: (1) selecting adult Ficus microcarpa and having it cut off; (2) picking off leaves until 3-5 leaves remained, cutting and rooting until 2-5cm long root system grows out of stem node, (3) wrapping the cultivated Ficus microcarpa seedling and rhizosphere soil by hemp cord nets and fixing it on the rock or other artificial protrusion in sewage treatment device to form a plant island wherein a small space can limit the development of the root system of Ficus microcarpa so as to purify the sewage with high efficiency.
[0009] Said Ficus microcarpa is a macrophanerophytes belonging to Moraceae ficus, which likes growing in the environment with warm, high-humidity and fertile soil and possesses properties of barren-resistant, wind-resistant, pollution-resistant, trim-resistant, easy to transplant, long life and the lowest temperature for it to survive safely in winter is 5 °C, often used as an important landscape plant in the south of China. Given its features of nutrient and water favorate, and high tolerance to contaminants and trimming the pollutants in domestic and agricultural sewage can be effectively removed when Ficus microcarpa is used in sewage biological treatment device such as ecological ditches, combined with dwarf plants, microorganisms, etc.
[0010] The Ficus microcarpa sewage treatment method should be used at above 5C to keep the plant growing.
[0011] The Ficus microcarpa sewage treatment method can be in combination with other bioecological treatment measures including dwarf aquatic plant absorption, microbial redox, microfauna ingestion, oxygen exposure, and matrix adsorption to deal with the sewage cooperatively.
[0012] The method is applicable to treatment of domestic and agricultural sewage from rural area, but not limited thereto.
[0013] Compared with the prior art, the invention has following advantages:
[0014] (1) The Ficus microcarpa selected in the invention has strong absorption abilities for the pollutants such as nitrogen, phosphorus and organic pollutants, and its well-developed aerial root is suitable for amphibious environment.
[0015] (2) Once Ficus microcarpa is planted in small biological sewage treatment device, the development of the root system of Ficus microcarpa can be restricted effectively so as to achieve the objective of saving space and treating the sewage effectively.
[0016] (3) Using Ficus microcarpa to treat the sewage is applicable to regions with annual minimum temperature above 5C, so it has wide application scope and can ensure that the
treatment effectiveness in winter also reach the standard. If it's used in colder regions, insulation measures can be employed.
[0017] (4) Ficus microcarpa belongs to tall-stem plant which can be combined with dwarf aquatic plants so that they can occupy different ecological niches to utilize the space reasonably and treat the sewage cooperatively and effectively.
[0018] (5) The method is applicable to treatment of domestic and agricultural sewage from rural area, but not limited thereto.
[0019] FIG.1 is the diagram illustrating the planting of the invention.
[0020] The invention is further described in detail hereinafter with reference to the drawings.
[0021] As shown in FIG.1, the invention provides a method to treat domestic and agricultural sewage by cultivating Ficus microcarpa comprising following steps: (1) selecting adult Ficus microcarpa and having it cut off; (2) picking off leaves until 3-5 leaves remained, cutting and rooting until 2-5cm long root system grows out of stem node, (3) wrapping the cultivated Ficus microcarpa seedling and rhizosphere soil by hemp cord nets and fixing it on the rock or protrusion in ecological ditches or other ecological sewage treatment system to form a plant island to purify the sewage. Said sewage purification method, by cultivating Ficus microcarpa in sewage system island, has effectively restricted the longitudinal extension of its root system, and its combination with dwarf plants and microorganisms in ecological purification system can effectively remove the pollutants such as nitrogen, phosphorus and organic contaminants in domestic and agricultural sewage.
[0022] The invention can be applicable to ecological sewage purification device consisting of a plurality of alternately drying ponds and submerging ponds, connected by a self-flowing channel formed by utilizing the elevation difference. Said drying pond consists of bottom mud medium, plants on rockery (Ficus microcarpa, acorus tatarinowii and duckweed), animals (earthworms) and microorganisms; rockery is arranged to form a combined environment of upper-layer aerobiotic and lower-layer anaerobic; tall-stem plants (Ficus microcarpa) and dwarf plants (acorus tatarinowii + duckweed) are cultivated in the pond wherein the Ficus microcarpa has a relative developed root system and is resistant to scouring and has high utilization efficiency of carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus pollutants in sewage; the combination of tall and dwarf plants has enhanced the diversity and vegetation coverage rate of plants and improved the pollutant absorption capacity; the earthworm can ameliorate the air permeability of the bottom mud medium so as to improve the absorption of pollutants by the plant root system, enhance the oxidation (nitrification) effect of microorganisms, and improve the removal rate of ammonia nitrogen. Gravel, tiles and the like provide attachment for the microorganisms. The submerging pool is composed of bottom mud medium, plants (Hydrocotyle chinensis (Dunn) Craib), aquatic animals (loaches and the like) and microorganisms. Different ecological niches are built and bounded space is reasonably made use of, thus raising the plant diversity and vegetation coverage; in addition, a food chain is formed by combination with microorganisms, animals and the like so that an ecological system for efficiently removing pollutants is formed.
[0023] The invention and its embodiments have been described above, but the description is not limited thereto; only one embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawings, and the actual structure is not limited thereto. In general, it is to be understood by those skilled in the art that non-creative design of structural forms and embodiments that are similar to the technical solutions without departing from the spirit of the invention shall all fall within the protective scope of the invention.
