Description
RiPOD is built from an adapted robust shipping container which is divided into 5 compartments, entry ,exit, main room, ensuite and service compartment. Due to a shipping containers robust design it will enable the RiPOD to be easily transported by land, rail or sea. The RiPOD's design has an entry and exit via two glass doors located opposite the original shipping doors which have now become the service compartment doors. A manufactured easily fold down access ramp will be provided to the entry and exit for disable access. To completely protect the entry of the RiPOD an awning will be installed above the entry which will close like a door by swinging down over the vertically folded ramp and glass doors locking the end of the shipping container.
The first two compartments are the entry and exit with their negative pressure of -15Pa. These separate compartments start 130mm in from the where the end panel was removed. In this position an aluminium commercial frame is installed with two glass doors that open out. These doors are fitted with pressure seals, door closers and magnetic locks which are controlled by the PMS (Pod Management System). Another frame and doors same specifications as the front doors are installed a further 1.5m into the shipping container. An internal glass division positioned centrally between the first set of doors and second set of doors creates the entry and exit approximately lm wide x 1.5m deep. Part of the PMS is an intercom with a signal light and FOB reader which is located externally on the door frame which is in the middle of the entry and exit doors. Internally there are 3 FOB readers, one inside the entry, one inside the main room and on inside the exit compartment. The PMS does not allow the doors to open via the FOB reader unless the compartments are at the safe negative pressure set. A set of remote controlled blinds are installed on the inside of the front entry and exit doors for privacy. The negative pressure compartments are designed to reduce the risk of cross contamination between the inside third compartment called the Main Room and the outside environment. The ceiling height in the entry and exit will be a minimum of 2100mm high. These lowered ceiling spaces will accommodate HEPA filters which are part of the PAFS (Pods Air Filtration System). The PAFS controls fresh air supply and the air pressure within the entry ,exit, main room and ensuite compartments. The entry, exit and main room have CCTV cameras to monitor who enters and leaves the RiPOD. The entrance ramp and awning door will be manufactured using aluminium checker plate panel and steel framing. The awning door will be hinged at the top and be lifted and lowered manually with the aid of gas struts. The ramp is hinged at the lower bottom sides of the opening of the shipping container and will manually operated by hand. After closing the ramp first, the awning door will be manually lowered into the closed position, covering the folded ramp. The awning door which when fully closed will enclose end of the shipping container protecting the glass doors and provide bracing and protection in transit.
The third compartment which is called the main room with its negative pressure of -30Pa, is insulated and lined with antibacterial treated finished panels . The room has a floor size of approximately 2.8m long x 2.1m wide can have a hospital bed for patient and or work area benches installed for a research facility. Additionally an I beam will be installed across the shipping container ceiling located above the Patient / work area, this forms part of the PILS (Pod Internal Lifting System) which can be used to move patients and lift equipment when necessary. In the main room there are power points, data points and lighting in various positions for the requirements of medical equipment like the ventilators, monitors, testing equipment and illumination requirements. The room also has a TV, intercom and nurse/ staff alert including the external signal light located between the middle doors on the external face of the entry/ exit doors. The internal Intercom is positioned so visitors, medical staff and laboratory staff can communicate verbally and visually through the glass doors with those inside the RiPOD. The interior flooring is a prefabricated floor system with a commercial vinyl finish coved to 100mm skirting against the walls for ease of cleaning.

The Main Room air pressure is controlled by the PAFS at -30Pa and is air conditioned to a set temperature by the PAFS. The air-conditioner fan coil unit is located in the ceiling of the ensuite and the supply air flow vent is located above the ensuite door. This fan coil unit is fed by the internal air supply that has been neutralised by the PAFS (Pod Air Filtration System ) located in the service compartment. The PAFS has a removable HEPA filter which can be serviced easily as required. The PAFS internal air exhaust vent for the internal air exchange is located 150mm above the finished floor height at the lower right hand side of the rear main room, which is the service compartment wall. The air is then divided into two different outlets and treated for viruses then re-directed into the internal air-conditioning or outside through the negative pressure control unit via a vent located towards the top of the main left hand shipping container service compartment door.
The forth compartment is an ensuite which is approx lm deep x 1.5 m wide, it has a negative air pressure of -30Pa with and exhaust system, the ensuite is located between the main Room wall and wall of the Service Compartment. Due to the space restrictions the ensuite will be sufficient for fit for purpose requirements with a toilet, shower and hand basin which will include hand rails, towel rail, soap dispensers and shower curtain. The ensuite door is heavily frosted safety glass with an aluminium frame. The door lock handle is D shape and does not lock. This lock can be changed for storage and refrigeration as a testing facility. The ensuite floor is a one piece stainless tray covered with a wet area commercial vinyl flooring for hospitals and laboratory facility with a sealed drainage system that deals with toxic grey water which pumps into the toilet macerator.
The service compartment is allocated behind the existing shipping container doors by installing a steel manufactured wall about 400mm within the end of the shipping container. A toilet cistern and sewerage pumping system (macerator) are located towards the bottom right hand side. The macerator transfers the grey and black waste through a 40mm waste pipe that exits the shipping container 150mm above the shipping floor on the right hand side. A lockable external sewerage male cam lock system is provided in the recessed compartment on the side of the shipping container. A hose with a female cam lock can be attached to this and connected to an existing sewerage system and or mobile tank system before the system can be used. To the left of the toilet cistern is an internal water filtration system which is fed by the main water supply which is located 200mm above the sewerage outlet connection on the side of the container. An instantaneous hot-water system supplies temper water to the shower and hand basin. Located above the toilet cistern is UPS power management system and power main switch that can be externally plugged into any external power supply female plug. This connection is located at the top right hand side of the shipping container which is located lm above the potable water supply. The service compartment has the following items: Two (2) 12volt House batteries, service lights, 4G-5G Modem, PMS (Pod Management System ), GPS system, antenna for 3g/4G, PAFS (Pod Air Filtration System), oxygen supply and Air-conditioner compressor. The PMS allows the RiPOD to be managed by Owner / Operator via Web Cloud services which can check patient vital signs, record CCTV, check and adjust room temperature, check and adjust air pressures, give remote access and manage access control of medical staff also providing a location services to each RiPOD via GPS.
Rescue Pod Pty Ltd has designed RiPOD with the goal to promote healing for the patient, safety for medical and research staff whilst reducing virus exposure to everyone. RiPOD uses anti bacterial materials to reduce surface bacteria and viruses. PAFS eliminates 99.9999% of all respiratory viruses using an UV filter system. The RiPOD's PMS maintains comfort, security and confidence in a modern medical grade facility that is remotely accessible, traceable and controllable for optimum performance.
