o IMPROVED STAIRCASE STRINGERS 0 For many years staircases have been made with full length strings with the treads and risers trenched into the string face, this means that staircases of different heights need to be manufactured special, this makes it uneconomical to distribute a staircase through a retailer. This invention has been specially devised in order to make it possible to distribute staircases through retailers.
The stringer is made up of a single pattern with one tread and riser trenched into one face, therefore making it possible to mass produce and package simply. All height adjustments are made on site.
Each string pattern has a 45 degree angle cut at the tread end and a square cut at the rise end. On site the rise end is cut at a degree angle to the correct rise required, The string patterns are now placed end to end on a long timber to form the full string.

Fig. 1 shows the single string pattern with the angle cut to the tread end and the square cut on the rise end.
Fig. 2 Is the single string pattern with the correct on site rise cut at degrees.
Fig. 3 this shows the patterns fixed end to end to form a complete staircase stringer.

Claims (4)
- 2. A string pattern as claimed in 1 wherein the triangular shape has a 45 degree cut off the tread end of the triangle and a square cut off the rise end of the said triangular shape.
- 3. A string pattern according to any claims 1 and 2 wherein the pattern triangles are made of medium density fibre board.
