Description

* VERIFICATION OF TRANSLATION INTERNATIONAL APPLICATION NO. PCT/DE2004/001550 I, Colette Elizabeth Jagg BA(Hons) DipTST MIL MICB, of 39 Hanson Close, Beckenham, Kent BR3 1WJ, Great Britain, am the translator of the document attached and I state that the following is a true translation to the best of my knowledge and belief. Jc~id , 20 WO 2005/012060 PCT/DE2004/001550 Transport Container Description The invention relates to a manually movable transport container, comprising a chassis, a bottom which is pivotable about a horizontal axis, and an upwardly extending structure, wherein the chassis has two parallel sides and a shape which allows the transport container to be pushed into another identical transport container in a space-saving manner when the bottom and parts of the structure are in a position of non-use. Known transport containers of this type have a chassis which is made of steel and which is either Z-shaped or has a trapezoidal contour, the longer parallel side of which is missing. The chassis of these transport containers carries a bottom usually made from a wire lattice, and a structure formed from metal walls so that a space is provided for holding goods, parcels and the like in the position of use. If the bottom and parts of the structure are moved into a position of non-use, identical transport containers can be nested in a space-saving manner. The upwardly pivotable bottom rests on the chassis in the position of use. The above described transport containers have two disadvantages. The first disadvantage consists in that, when the container is heavily laden, pressure points caused by the lattice-type structure of the bottom can be formed on the goods lying directly on the bottom. The second disadvantage is that at least the thickness of the bottom projects above the chassis. As the overall heights of the aforementioned transport containers are standardised and these heights may not be exceeded, 2 valuable storage space for the goods to be transported is lost owing to the thickness of the bottom. The object of the invention is to develop further a transport container of the present type so that the two above-described disadvantages are avoided. The object is achieved in that the chassis has a base body made of plastic and the bottom is also made of plastic, wherein the base body has a receiving region in which the bottom is located in the position of use, and in that in this position the depositing surface of the bottom and portions of the base body or the chassis are arranged in one plane in order to form a common loading surface. If the bottom is made of plastic, the depositing surface intended for the goods can be formed completely flat, thereby avoiding the above mentioned pressure points on the lowermost goods. As the chassis has a base body which is likewise made of plastic, a receiving region formed as a recess can be formed in the base body and completely holds the bottom in its position of use. Consequently, the bottom does not project upwards and, with the same standard height of the transport container, the storage space provided for the goods is greater than in the initially mentioned transport containers forming part of the state of the art. As the bottom is insertable into the chassis, it also proves advantageous if the depositing surface of the bottom and the upper boundary of the base body or the chassis lie in a common horizontal plane. In this way, portions of the base body or the chassis can also be used as a depositing surface. The invention will be further described with reference to embodiments.
3 Fig. 1 shows a transport container; Fig. 2 shows an N-shaped chassis; and Fig. 3 shows in detail the chassis according to fig. 2 provided with a bottom. The manually movable transport container 1 shown in fig. 1 has the advantageous basic form known from known movable transport containers 1. Thus the transport container 1 has a chassis 2 which is fitted with casters and which carries a bottom 10 pivotable upwards through 900. The chassis 2 also carries an upwardly extending structure 15 having at least two walls 17 which are each pivotable about a vertical axis 16 and which e.g. are articulated on fixedly arranged wall portions 18. The structure 15 can have a fixed rear wall 19, a door 20 and an upper cover 21. Parts of the structure 15 and the bottom 10 can be moved in a known manner from a position of use into a position of non use so that the transport container 1 can be pushed into an identical transport container 1, likewise in a known manner, in order to save space, wherein the chassis 2 is preferably constructed as described hereinafter with reference to fig. 2. The chassis 2, shown in fig. 2 and provided for the transport container 1, has an N- or Z-shaped contour, wherein the chassis 2 is also constructed so that the chassis 2 of another identical transport container 1 can be pushed into the above-described chassis 2, as indicated by the dot-dash lines. The chassis 2 has two parallel sides 4 connected by a crosspiece 4a. The horizontal axis 5, about which the bottom 10 is movable upwards in a known manner from the horizontal position of use into the position of non-use, is shown on one of the sides 4 and is arranged 4 parallel thereto. Instead of an N- or Z-shaped contour, the chassis 2 can also have an H-shaped contour. Fig. 3 shows the chassis 2 of the transport container 1 in detail and partly in section. The chassis 2 has a plastic base body 3 with a receiving region 9 which is formed as a recess 7 and is provided with steps 8 and into which the bottom 10, likewise made of plastic, is preferably positively inserted in the position of use. The steps 8 forming the receiving region 9 are also shown in fig. 2. The steps 8 are located on the inner surfaces of the parallel sides 4, i.e. they lie opposite one another in mirror-image fashion. The horizontal axis 5, about which the bottom 10 is movable upwards from the position of use shown into the position of non-use (indicated by the dot-dash lines) and back again, is located on one of the steps 8. The underside 11 of the bottom 10 is also stepped so that the bottom 10 can be positively held in the receiving region 9. In the example, the depositing surface 12 of the bottom 10 is located in the same horizontal plane 13 as the two upper portions 6 of the chassis 2 or the base body 3, thereby forming a common loading surface 14. The base body 3 is to be understood as a component without casters. Nevertheless, at least one metallic part serving to reinforce the base body 3 can be injected into the base body 3, for example.
