Description

The invention is described in the following statement- For many sawmill operators and owners chainsaw and small motor driven sawmills can provide a cost effective method for the primary sawmilling of timber. However due to the problems generally associated with chain sawmills and in particular vertically mounted machines, existing sawmills can be poor perfonners especially when being used by the more inexperienced operator A major problem associated with the vertical chainsaw mi'll is inaccurately sawn boards due to the chainsaw cutting bar wandering during the cutting operation. As a general rule the longer the cutting bar the more flex at the tip and the risk of inaccuracy is increased. Even a well a maintained cutting chain will wander due to various uncontrollable influences throughout the milling operation.
The solution to this problem is largely eliminated by the installation of a bar tip, track and guide system to the sawmill. The invention is an improvement that reduces errors in accuracy and increases efficiency when gauging cuts. The main aim of the invention is to eliminate lateral deflection of the cutting bar during the cuffing operation- The invention consists of two spacers, guides or slides mounted to a chainsaw cuffing har in the proximity of the cutting hr tip. The spacers, guides or slides (a) are mounted on either side of the cuffing bar by means of a through bolt The cuffing bar tip is inserted between two rails to a depth whereby guide components and are below the top of the track rails The through bolt is countersunk in the sides of the spacer, guide or slides so as to not rub on the track rails The spacers, slides or guides contact the track rails and are supported the length of the cut by the track rails The track rails do not move with the chainsaw cuffing action.
