Abstract
Warm dehulling of soya beans comprises: (a) heating the beans by contact or in a hot gas stream; (b) double milling; (c) loosening the shells by cascading the beans through a baffle tower; and (d) separating them by aspiration. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a plant for warm dehulling of soya beans comprising a steamer (1) and/or fluidised bed (2), a break roller installation (3), baffle tower (6) and hull separator (7); and (2) a hull separator comprising a cylindrical tower through which beans fall, with a gas inlet at its base and baffle plates arranged to form a cascade.
