Abstract

A coaxial filter cigarette (10) having a rod part (12) with an inner core (14) of a material, in particular tobacco material, which smoulders in a substantially residue-free manner, a wrapper (16) for the inner core, an outer shell (18) of a tobacco and/or a non-tobacco material which coaxially surrounds the inner core and its wrapper, and a wrapper (20) for the outer shell, and having a filter part (13) with a filter core (22), an air-impermeable wrapper (24) for the filter core, a filter shell (26) and a wrapper (28) for the filter shell has one zone for the primary heat source, which is located within the inner core (14) of the rod part, and one zone in which the essential proportion of the aerosol passing into the smoker's mouth is generated and which is located in the outer shell (18) of the rod part; the filter part (13) distinctly reduces the combustion gases originating from the inner core of the rod part, and substantially reduces the smoke particles originating from the inner core, whereas the aerosol generated in the outer shell of the rod part is influenced only slightly, if at all. <IMAGE>
